cheaper to run because most of them use Mitsu Evo mechanicals easier to source for parts , easier to upgrade and most of the team shifted from old group N 4wd sedan to be more competitive

Some of these have a 1.6 Peugeot turbo engine (N5 class) but all of them have significanly lower costs than R5 cars. You can definitely hear which are the Evo powered ones though!
