@@dynasty9120 The idea of "don't nerf only buff" started going around a few years ago and it's really dumb in practice. It started with a misunderstood core-A-gaming video where he says buffing is generally better than nerfing

@@Switcheroo4542 ahh yes, only buffing would result in everyone being broken af. and only center the entire meta around that character's broken thing (like yun and genei jin) in the hypothetical case of third strike getting an update, I would buff twelve, fix some jank that defines low tiers, and nerf yun genei jin by maybe giving it a bigger meter bar, so the opponent gets more often into this "ticking bomb" moment of trying to kill Yun before he actives. that's just me tho

There will always be tiers. Also, there will always be people who shed tears about the tiers. However, those who shed tears this late in the game's life are usually spectators who barely play the game, if at all. Those consistent Keeper-jin combos into resets are among the most beautiful things I've ever seen in 3s. If only yall knew the execution required, you too would be awestruck. Shout outs to Keeper Ken for finding it out!

@@edmondnkosi2125 the Japanese have made a tournament to specifically address this so it has character variety. It's probably the biggest tournaments for 3s in the last 10 years. That format is called coop cup

And don't forget, when 3rd strike was re-released, Capcom asked the community if they wanted a faithful recreation or a balance update. When they did that, a bunch of people who probably never played the freaking game said, "rerelease it as is, 3rd strike was perfect" and now the most current online version of the game is the same one we see here. Could've been different. Could've done a super gentle re balance by just increasing our decreasing the length of each super meter to properly express how strong they are, but nope. The community said this exact version of the game is better than one with updated balance would be

Yeah, imma go ahead and say hell no to that. It's easy to ask for a balance patch, but to effectively patch a near perfect fighting game, to where it can actively be played for the next 10-15 years is almost impossible. Do you think the Japanese gods are just going to stop going to their local arcades and play the game on console? Some American players and most of Japan would probably end up playing two different games, then we would never be able to have a real tournament, we'd split up the scene in a horrible way. I doubt Tominaga, Rikimaru, TM, RX, and countless other top japanese players would just accept a patched version of the game at this point, especially since they would be unlikely to play it on a versus city cab at their local game centers. No other fighting game has ever gotten this close to perfection, IMO. It is hand down the most satisfying fighting game to put your time in, your skill and effort pays off in this game so much more than any other fighting game. If any old game needs a patch, its USF4 since all you saw at the end of that games life was elena, and pro players said it made the game boring. 3s is never boring for the player.

Please remember that the great players who made it to the Top 6 are not just relying on the strength of their character. This game is a classic that has been played for 25 years, and there are so many specialists of various characters still playing in Japan that we can no longer talk only about the strength of the characters. If you think you can win easily if you use Yun and Chun-Li, come to Japan to play 3S. You will be destroyed by characters you don't know and you will surely want to refuse to play against Kuni and Tominaga.

players are good as hell at this game? yes is this level of play is boring as hell to watch? totally is there something to do about it? not really will the game be stopped being played? it never stopped baby What this event made me appreciate is that even if top level is abused by the results of the devs mistakes (you can argue that chun and genei jin are not mistakes, but at the end of the day no sane developer would want their fighting game tournament top 8 to look like this), the game is fun as hell and unless you are a competitive yun/chun player, the game doesn't look, feels and plays like this top 8, and thats why people are still playing it on fightcade right now, and thats why people still go to arcades to play it with other people, and thats why me and my friends will still practice and grind it. fuck yun fuck chun fuck genei jin and much love to the unique feeling of beating those even against the odds.

The worst Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike tournament ever. With a few exceptions, the rest of the pro players didn't leave Yun and Chun-li behind. I can't believe what I'm going to say, but the Garou: Mark of The Wolves tournament was MUCH better than the SF3 tournament: more variety of characters, and better moments in the fights. They should upload the best moments of Garou MOTW.

If you take away the top 3, the new top 3 will be makoto, dudley, urien. They will dominate the rest of the cast just as yun chun ken do. Then people will complain about makoto 1 grab stun, and urien unblockable setups into another unblockable setup. There will always be tiers, and there will always be people who shed tears about top tiers.

The frightening thing is that the players remaining in the TOP 6 are very strong with other characters. For example, BOSS's KEN and MAKOTO are known to be top-class strong, and YAKKUN 's NECRO is so strong that we will regret challenging him to a match.
