I bought my K6 GSXR1000 new, still have it, and still the very best all round bike I’ve ever owned. Bought the 2018 GSXR1000 as well, and it’s a bit of kit as well. Great handling bikes. 💙

@ononewheellad I bought my 06 Phantom edition new in 06 and since then have owned 5 other new bikes but have hung on to my 06. The Suzuki is so fast, handles so well and is so beautiful that I just will not sell it. Oh, and it has no irritating electronic aids either. Im still in love with it. Long live the Whale tail.

@ Good man, never sell your phantom, nice paint scheme and as we agree there’s nothing much out there that handles like them. I am fortunate enough to live near TAS Suzuki, as they were then in 2006. Took my 06 Gsxr after buying it new, to them and they set up the suspension for me, dialling in Bruce Ansteys superstock race settings as they were racing them at that time at the NW200 and TT etc. All done in 10 minutes front & back with a screwdriver and adjuster. What a difference. It’s never been touched since. Take care.

Yeah i still got mine 750 block bored to about 880 and then stroked to give 999. The torque and power is awesome. About 7kg heavier than the 600 gsxr. Hard to be beaten on the road in the hands of a good rider. Takes no prisoners, gives the rider the biggest smile going, future classic imo. Not gonna sell mine ever. Back up ignition to support fueling and spark, and they are quieter on semi synthetic oil. Rock on

My GSXS1K has the K5 motor, its a little detuned for gas mileage but man does that thing turn into a rocket at about 6k

All you need for the road , mine has new shock , front cartridge kit braided lines ,end can , kept up with a well riden bmw1000 RR last week and I wasn't really in the mood either , and on the really tight stuff was all over him , I dare say a quick shifter would have helped , I let him pass so he new I was on a K6 , 16 k bike against 4k , and I'm quick but not the fastest by a long way . And saying that on the type of roads we where on I've had an SV 650 teach me a lesson .

299 at speedo is in reality around 275-280 real gps speed.

It's not anything said above. There is a device that keeps the bike in 5th gear as that has the best fuel map of all the other gears. Means that every gear is on the best fuel/power mapping. How do i know this? I had one fitted to my k6.

The year. 2005 and 2006 is the K5/K6. From 2010 on they were called L0/L1 etc.

I had a k-6 with 105lb girlfriend on the back did Willie's for 4 miies😂. I was 172. I did a quarter mile in 8.92 seconds 148mph! Fastest I ever had it was 6th Gear 211mph! Yes I had some mods
