Poor Incursus. All he wanted to do was cast a good finals match. Instead, it was like watching one person's target practice and the other side learning how to play the game. Sometimes you get outclassed.

a wall of metal is anything but an immovable object. Dennis built the wrong counter against the weapons he was facing. Layered sandbags, energy shields and woodspam with decent flak support is the closest you can get to an immovable object in forts

Dennis really played weird. He built an upgrade center while not rushing and he didn't upgrade his armor? And then he spent his his resources on upgrading a gatling gun while zuri only had wood armor? Normal gats eat wood, grenades are just an upgrade that allows them to deal damage to slanted metal and splash. On top of that, he didn't prefire with grenades to soften wood in splash and then kill parts of the base with the gat, but the other way around, which means zurli just has to repair. Meanwhile zurli actually seemed to have a solid plan and great pace in both games.

i comented on that under Duane van vuuren and also i came back to the game after a break of About 2 months just with some games in Campaign to test out new Features as to that i did not upgrade mines by i simply forgot and i did not know About possibility of upgrading armor About the GL in the past it felt like being very much way stronger and i stated i should have used 2 gatts instead i also did not know About him selling off armor

Some people won't like what I'll say, but I really felt that Dennis was rather incompetent here. Not only did he appear to have no plan, no strategy, but he also didn't learn from his mistakes in the previous match. It was like watching a newbie play against a veteran.

Forts isn't Total Annihilation. You can't build a deathtrap and lure your enemy's army into it.

I love when he covers these tournaments himself. Generally when he has his friends around they get off topic a lot and Incursus can't really get a word in on what's going on.

In round one, Dennis goes for a defensive strat that is immediately countered by Zurli. Yet Dennis persists on using the same useless defensive strat without going for a counter of his own. That is basically "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." How did he reach the finals?

Wow, such weak sauce from Dennis. He did the right thing at first in the second round. Negating that gatling gun. But then he just sat there taking blows while dealing nothing of significance of his own. As soon as he saw where the gatling was he should have tried for elevation to be able to fight head on with Zurli's weapon systems. Instead he opted to "defend" from below without countering anything else other than the gatling gun. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT FFS.

I enjoyed listening to Incursus’ play-by-play SO MUCH MORE than having Frazz’s bullshit attempts to be funny ruin the match. I don’t play Forts but Incursus’ explanation of each players’ strategy was so much more entertaining than listening to Frazz. I’d love to see an entire Tournament edited (from start to finish) just like this video!

i knew he would rush gattlings so i preped nukes in return in first game but kinda forgot About lasers 2nd i tried to counter rush but felt like i should have went with 2 gattlings instead of 1 gattling and 1 upgraded one well probably was amistake to Change tactics bc i thought he would try to adapt against me since all other games i went cannons and full armor (which also payed off)

@@dennis1701e you have built too many layers of armor, it makes you super vulnerable to the economic damage explosives do while providing no protection against them. sandbags are dirt cheap while being as strong as a piece of metal, I usually get a layer of tightly stacked ones in the front if i can get a chance. I also like to build a concealed gunner in front of my turbines early in order to not be entirely defenseless against missiles.

Zurli wasn't playing much better. Second match he had one of those rockets aimed below the base for the entire freaking game. Shot after expensive shot slamming into the mountain, and it never once occurred to him to adjust the frigging arc.

For the 1st round, Dennis should have built a plasma laser with the factory he had built, and hit the bottom of the other guy's base where the Gatling gun was. Would have been pretty much game ending for the other guy.

so has defensive play ever gotten anyone anywhere? i know it isn't favored in the meta, but people still talk abt it like its a roughly equal counterpart to offensive play. the only time i've seen turtling like this work out is against stupidly aggressive players, never against skilled opponents.

Don’t know how the forts spectator system works but would it be possible to also have the UI for each player? (Resource Counts & Reactor HP?)

It would be possible. But they haven't coded it to, probably deliberately, so that spectators can't peek at info and let the other team know. Should be a Tournament Mode that shows that to the host who is casting, though.

Dennis played poorly in the second match in my opinion. He almost always went for the core instead of the weapons and reacted far too late when the missiles were forcing him to focus on defense (a defense that was way worse than the first match since he didn't even try to AA. He had an height advantage and could have made his gunners unreachable by the minigun yet he focused too much on hitting the enemy's armor)

"tanya's mod" is a mod by a forts player called Tanya and she changes 100s of things about the game, including adding about 50 new weapons and changing existing weapons, changing costs and res generation, and flip flopping commander powers. Very fun :)
