I got a feeling that Master Kim Sun-yung & Mr. Miyagi were old rivals. While the last fight was a physical danger to Sam, it was also an emotional danger to Tory if she ended up losing, which had a good chance of happening due to her erratic state of mind. Focus is key as Robby just showed w/ that ultra instinct in the clutch.

This episode has a special place. my Mom passed away alone in her apartment 2 weeks before this aired. I remember telling my husband weeks before "I think Tory's Mom is going to die...just to wrap up that story." Watching it vs. thinking it were two different things. I stopped all my martial arts after my Mom passed. I needed time. But I understand Tory here, wanting to fight. Grief and anger are two sides of the same coin. She wanted to be in the fight, while I needed to get the fight away from me. I will always love Cobra Kai for this moment, because it made me realize how important my Mom was to me, and how her passing will change my life. For the better.

Hear me out, I don’t think Kreese had anything to do with the death of Tory’s mother. While Kreese has been known for doing scummy things throughout the franchise, it’s always been different when it came to Tory. He was always looking out for her well being even when she never witnessed any of it like when he told Amanda what her living situation was like. He relates to her mother being sick after his mother took her own life from a “different kind of sickness” as he puts it. He was sick of the landlord abusing his power which probably reminded him of Betsy’s previous boyfriend and got him off Tory’s back. He also didn’t get her involved when it came to his escape. But, I think the biggest case of him caring was when he let her fight the way she wanted in the All Valley against Silver’s wishes. I just can’t imagine him killing Tory’s mother after all of that development.

Both Daniel and Amanda were right, to stop the fight. Tory wasn't in the right state of mind at the moment, she wasn't focused and already used cheap shots on Sam. Johnny was in the wrong of several things, first feeding into Tory's insecurity about favoring Sam over her which wasn't the case. Also, he should have gone along and talked to Daniel in private, encouraging Tory who just learned her mother died to fight in her mental state, comparing her to him, even though he was a grown man and she's a teenage girl and finally insulting Miyagi to Daniel knowing what he was going through. Daniel shouldn't have punched him but I get why he did. Can't wait for you guys' reaction to part 2.

Everybody in Miyagi-do handled Tory's situation wrong. Nobody went after her. She needed people to spend time with her. Especially the first day and night after a close family member died. The female captain's fight Daniel & Johnnie were both right & wrong. It was right to stop the fight, it was wrong to stop Tory's emotions. How they could've handled it better. Don't stop the fight permanently, just postpone it for a few hours, or a day. Talk to Tory, let her cry, offer the training bags to Tory for her first gut emotions, label the bags with the emotions she feels and people she blames. Oh, and of course individual hugs and group hug on Tory. Poor baby Tory, I wish I was really in the series at times, especially now I wanted to give Tory a hug and offer myself as someone to talk to. For I really felt her pain as my Mom died some 16 yrs ago. But it still feels like yesterday.

Tory definitely shouldn’t fight at this mental state. She really wanted to win and was loosing, If she had lost it would have made her mentally worse as too she couldn’t win for her dead mom. 2. Johnny should be the last one talking, he learned to fight off anger and ended his whole lifes career over a loss.

From a writing point of view the fight had to be stopped between Sam and Tory. If Sam had won and Tory quit to join Cobra Kai afterwards. It would’ve made her look like a sore loser. If Tory had beaten Sam then there would’ve been no reason for her to go to Cobra Kai. Robby and Miguel can have a clear winner because first of all Robby needed it. He couldn’t be 2nd choice given his history and Robby truly needed it because he doesn’t have anything else going for him. Miguel may need it for college credentials but he doesn’t necessarily need to be the #1 winner. Just being on the winning dojo should be enough.

I’m convinced that something will happen to Robby and Miguel will be forced to take over as captain. The creators have said that when two fighters are close in skill level the fighter with the right mindset will win. Miguel was thrown off by getting deferred by Stanford, while Robby was thrown off by Tory going missing. Once Tory showed up it gave him the edge. I predict now that Tory is on Cobra Kai it will throw him off his game and it will lead him to get seriously injured.

You guys are finally caught up with this show just in time for the final run just like when you jumped into Agents of SHIELD in 2018 and you caught up in time for the seventh and final season in real time. Speaking of which, remember when Daisy “relapsed” in the third season after she was freed from Hive’s control? That’s kinda what’s happening with Tory. She’s falling back into old habits by rejoining Cobra Kai even after defecting from them. I have mixed feelings about the girls’ duel. On one hand, I get that Daniel was prioritizing Tory’s mental health and he feared that her loss was gonna make her do something she was gonna regret… again. On the other hand, I always felt that Johnny might be able to relate to Tory on some level. Growing up, karate was his coping mechanism after he lost his mom. Now it was Tory’s turn. Just for the record, I didn’t hear Daniel or anyone else kicking her out of the dojo. She left on her own accord. If she had explained that her aunt Kandace was after the welfare check and custody over Brandon, they still would’ve found a way to help her. Daniel and Johnny may be at odds again, but it’s not like last time when they split halfway into the fourth season. At least this time they’re still coaching one and the same dojo.

I love the nickname Queen Cobra for Tory 😍 That has actually been listed as an AKA on the Cobra Kai fandom page for years even though they never called her that until this episode. When you look back on the show she was the leader of Cobra Kai from seasons 3-5 she used to boss Hawk around in season 3 when he was their top male fighter. In season 4 when Silver buys Cobra Kai new gear she is the only one dressed different. They all have matching black & red gear but Tory is the only one in a gray snakeskin gi.

Johnny was right. Daniel somehow is never in the right ever in this series and it’s actually kind of insane given that he’s the more morally good of the two. Everyone here in this comment section is acting like Tory was about to murder Sam as if they didn’t just make up and become friends two episodes ago and she would have likely stopped after the punch. Tory is not nearly as bad as she was before, even with her grief, she doesn’t truly want to hurt Sam. Also, Amanda and Daniel are absolutely favoring Sam over Tory, and why wouldn’t they, she’s their daughter. And btw, Tory, despite her obviously insane talent, wasn’t even on Daniel’s list for the ST because he didn’t like the way she fought, AKA the way Johnny fights, he is biased as hell. Robby winning the Captain Spot was for the wrong reason. The fact he got more fighting motivation once Tory arrived at the Miyagi-Do dojo is a huge red flag. Now that Tory rejoined Kreese's Cobra Kai, Robby won't be in the right mentality to fight. Miguel should definitely be the Captain. Also, for the Sekai Taikai I don't think it's going to be point based. I think it's who will still keep standing after taking hits. Something tells me Robby, Demetri, Devon, and possibly Hawk might get brutally injured once they face the South Korean Cobra Kai team. We'll see what happens once Part II gets released in November.

I’m so sick of Daniel, he keeps acting like miyagi was Jesus….hot head Daniel strikes again. Also Tori v Sam should’ve happened in my opinion because I don’t believe that Tori is fighting out of anger even though I do think she is fighting emotionally, I think she’s in a state of grief but she’s giving her all for her mom and she’s putting it all on the line. I think if you mirror it to Robbie’s fight when he’s at maximum ability he reverts to his miyagi style (remember he was the first new gen miyagi student) and I think it’s the same for Tori going all in means maximum effort but with cobra Kai (which is all offense), I don’t think Sam should be the punching bag for Tori’s problems but I also think we’re too far in the series for Tori to fatally injure Sam. Tori has showcased a lot of growth and she wouldn’t take it to the extreme, it’s a contact sport and the worst thing she did was a follow up kick after she scored a point.
