The wolf conspiracy theories are an unwelcome addition. As someone who lives in an area with high wolf population, wolves belong on the landscape. We extirpated them from the territory, and it’s a good thing to add them back into the managed ecosystem. I do agree that they need to be managed, and I participate in that annually. Yes, they have an initially outsized impact on the game populations because it’s been a century since the ungulates have been hunted by a pack animal, and yes, initially the hunting will be worse, but the health of the ecosystem improves with them on the landscape.
