Tereshkina es la Zarina de las bailarinas rusas!!! Solo perfección, control, musicalidad. Es un absoluto placer verla en todos sus roles!!!
@lburgess633 жыл бұрын
Oh, how I love those gorgeous Russian-trained bourees! That impossibly fluid motion! The ankle and foot strength it takes to move like this is /phenomenal/. But it's not a showy, make-them-gasp step, like big jumps, multiple pirouettes, or huge extensions. An audience member has to be educated enough to appreciate the subtle beauty. And that education takes a while. True embarrassing story: the very first time I saw bourees correctly performed, I was about eight years old, and on a summer sleepover with two ballet-class buddies. It was the mid- 1970s. We'd all been studying with a fantastic Russian emigree for about two years. It was well past our normal bedtime, and we were giddy with fatigue and the pure sugar rush from normally forbidden Coca-cola and candy. We were watching a rare treat: a televised black-and-white (of course) Kirov performance of "Giselle." As Act II begins - correct me if my memory is wrong! -- Marta (Giselle?) does a truly spooky back-and-forth bouree across the full width of the stage. To create the illusion of a ghost floating, nothing is supposed to appear to be in motion. All you should see is an apparition, moving mysteriously in the mist. I now realize the dancer we were watching was incredible. Sadly, I've never found this clip again,v so I can't credit her properly. But the three idiot girls watching back then Iaughed so hard, we almost threw up our popcorn and licorice. It just looked so funny to us, this person moving from wing to wing as if pulled on a string! That fall, we three started pointe.

Myrtha :-)
@lburgess632 жыл бұрын
@@olgaknyaz Yes! What a fantastic role that is. Giselle gets all the focus, but I actually much prefer Myrta. A strong woman, righteous anger. Giselle is about forgiveness, but I struggle with that. The Prince is a jerk. Why doesn't she also protect Hilarion? He's the one who really, truly loves her. What do you think?
@ThuyLe-jy2me2 жыл бұрын
@@lburgess63 let’s just say that in classical ballet, the damsel in distress (ex: Giselle, Odette, Nikiya,Raymonda etc) is mostly in the spotlight while the more sassy, spicy roles (ex: Myrtha, Gamzatti, Odile) are mostly antagonists. There are exceptions of course, think Kitri, Swanilda :)
@lburgess632 жыл бұрын
@@ThuyLe-jy2me So true. I remember that these roles were developed in the so-called Romantic Age. The ideal woman was innocent, "pure," passive, accepting. A victim, not a protagonist. How interesting would a recast be, switching male and female? Obviously it would require new choreography. I'm not suggesting men in tutus and pointe shoes, or women trying to heave men over their heads.

She really is the tops. And her skill matched with the artistry is much more than the circus artist Osipova. She can do amazing meals and turns but she doesn't have the proportions nor elegance of the true Russian ballerina, Tereshkina.
