Best Of Vishmadev Chatterjee | Hindusthani Classical Songs | Bengali Classical

Best of Vishmadev Chatterjee, is a select compilation of some Hindusthani Classical Songs and Bengali Classical Songs of the legend. Vishmadev Chatterjee was the inhabitant of West Bengal. He was famous Bengali singer. Vishmadev Chatterjee had his initial training from Shri Nagendranath Datta. Later, Ustad Badal Khan of Sonipat adopted him as a disciple and took him away from his father to teach him music. He learnt from Ustad Badal Khan for 14 years. Many years later, Vishmadev Chatterjee was enticed by Ustad Faiyaz Khan on a Barwa composition and was asked to come to Baroda to become his gandbandh disciple. However, when he reached Baroda, not much happened by way of learning. Ustad Vishmadev Chatterjee of Bengal was a great genius who unfortunately was lost for many years to his spiritual pursuits in Pondicherry. But many of his recordings in 78 RPM are left behind. Another extraordinary thing about these 78rpm recordings of Vishmadev Chatterjee is that he is obviously playing the harmonium himself and thus rather than the usual delay in what is played by the harmonium player on these recordings it is exactly in sync with the singer.

তাঁর পায়ের কাছে বসে তাঁকে শোনবার সৌভাগ্য আমার হয়েছিল! সেজন্য শ্লাঘা অনুভব করি। কী শুনেছি বা কেমন শুনেছি তা ব্যাখ্যা করার স্পর্ধা আমার নেই। তিনি ছিলেন আমার গুরুর গুরু - ওস্তাদ! তাঁর পায়ের ধূলো মাথায় নিতে পেরেছি -- ভাগ্যের সেই দান আমরণ সঙ্গে থাকবে। আর হারমোনিয়াম ? কোলের উপরে টেনে নিয়েছেন, আর আঙুল খেলছে তিন সপ্তক জুড়ে , ঝড়ের গতিতে! মনে পড়লে আজও আপ্লুত হই !

His Classical Songs make all the listeners speechless and spellbound! Really he was one of the most popular Classical Singers that India has ever produced.All music lovers should bowdown to this genius and respect him as the 'Guru' (Lord) of Indian Classical Music.
