Fun fact: the Old Testament use of “feet” was certainly a euphemism for male genitalia, but the New Testament use of “feet” is exactly what it means. Feet. This argument is supported by the fact that the OT and the NT were written in different languages with different rules and slang.

That knowledge about "feet" makes that passage in Ruth make so much more sense!

That info is total BS. Feet is never used as a euphemism. Ruth literally lays down next to Boaz's actual feet. That's important because it ruins the meaning of the scripture otherwise. The point was that by uncovering his feet she was basically asking him to marry her in an incredibly straightforward way, which would have been seen as unattractive and embarrassing to Ruth. It was a show of her faith that the Lord would provide her a husband.

Just because your religion is pretend that doesn't mean that you can play pretend with other people's religion.

@@donkeydeck5263funny how you say our religion is pretend and then go on to defend yours. It's almost like... everyone's religion is very personal to themselves and that you can't call religion fake because it's real to the person. Crazy I know! Also you're so soon to shit on witchcraft when Jesus walked on water and turned water into wine..

Thanks for the comp! I actually met her the other day, and it was so cool!! She was selling some things at an outdoor market, and I bought a selenite wand that I absolutely love. It was such a fun experience to meet someone in real life that I had been learning so much from.

Sometimes the heavy hair can cause migraines. My mother was raised Pentecost she used to get headaches and when she got lice as a kid and finally cut it to get them out…..everyone wasn’t happy…at least there aren’t bugs in her hair anymore instead of brushing them out of thick curly long tender headed hair.

The point was that by uncovering his feet she was basically asking him to marry her in an incredibly straightforward way, which would have been seen as unattractive and embarrassing to Ruth. It was a show of her faith that the Lord would provide her a husband. In the other parts of the Bible that she mentioned, It was obviously talking about literal feet there as well, because of the customs that the jews had of washing feet. The thing about privates makes no sense and there's no evidence to suggest it whatsoever. IDK who told it to her but I guarantee it was no biblical scholar. It was probably formulated by an atheist who had hardly any understanding of scripture. So although she said there was no way to know whether they mean feet or "feet", I disagree. There is a way to know. The meaning is absolutely always literal feet. 100% of the time.

The use of the word feet in the Bible can be literal in some cases but in a majority of instances it is used in a turn of phrase. To cover one's feet meant to rest, to uncover is to take action, and more specifically to wash and cover one's feet meant to go to bed, often with someone, and sometimes is a euphemism for sex. The vagueness of using feet was most likely intentional, some believe some uses of covering ones feet meant to go to the bathroom, much like we use the term "powder my nose" to go to the washroom and do whatever, the action is kept vague out of politeness. actions could oftentimes be taken literally but the audience was expected to understand the saying as we understand something like "take a load off" can mean relaxing, but you might not always be carrying "a load". this context has been lost not only because of translation but also because we don't use those sayings anymore, even when Jesus had his feet washed and anointed he said his disciples misunderstood the anointers intentions - that she was preparing him for burial, but in the cultural context of the time of the Bible the reader would have also understood anointing feet was something done on very special occasions, often before marriage, done by ones wife, and she was in everyone's eyes "a sinner" and her mere touch would dirty Jesus. that's why people question why Jesus was letting her cry and put perfume on his feet.. it was an overly intimate act done by someone seen as "unworthy" (people also always mistakenly attribute this act to Mary Magdalene but that is never said in the Bible, this was just a woman that heard Jesus was in town and went to see him.. Mary Magdalenes name has basically been dragged, saying that she was a prostitute and whatnot but in reality she was believed to be the funding behind Jesus's travels and preaching, there was just a pope that disliked a woman being held at such a high regard and decided to try to recontextualize her as a prostitute, which mostly seems to have worked.) The bible is very much of its time, and many of the references I belive have been lost to time because people couldn't bare to imagine that a text that they have based their entire belief system on might be misunderstood by them. And also a dash of puritanicalism.
