I've been in the auto parts industry for nearly 40 years. I used to sell Fram for many years . Till a rep from Wix showed me the INTERNAL differences. Go and cut open a Fram PH8A and a Wix 1515, you'll see. Google oil filter comparison for another view.

Who ever put this together was a marketing PR firm. All they did was read the box as there was no science behind this video. I have used Fram EG for years, but would never run that filter for 10K as they are advertised for. I ran them for 279K on my Mazda 626, but changed the oil and filter every 5k. I love their sure grip coating!

ABSOLUTELY! All I use in my 2003 Toyota Matrix is Mobil 1 5W-30 through a Purolator PUREONE filter. Twenty years and 192,000 miles later, it practically runs like new.

My I have used FRAM oil filters my entire life & never had a problem. I used them on my racing engines, personal drivers & so on. I,m always amazed when I see all the so called experts trashing them. Wonder why they are the top selling oil filter & have been for years. I,m 76 years young & been a automotive machinist for much of my life. We build Drag Racing, circle track, drag boat, & tractor pull engines. Everyone of them have had FRAM filters.

I used a frame filter which was part of the reason my head drain tubes plugged at 152k as they are an inferior product that doesn't filter enough to protect your motor. Currently I use mobile1 on my current car with 325k with no signs of any issues

Surprised that the number 1 filter is the Fram Extra Guard? It is the cheapest, with no exceptional quality other than the filter media and price. This filter was designed to go about 3,000 miles with normal oil pressures and functions well in these parameters. I’ve used them for years in the 70’s and 80’s with no excessive engine wear in my 4 and 6 cylinder engines. However, going to 5,000 to 10,000 mile oil changes, I had to go to the OEM filter for 5,000 mile and Mobile 1 filter for 10,000 mile or longer. Strange video. Also, the narrator is very strange: He called the A C Delco filter “AckDelco” and Fram filter,”Frim”.

The newer Mobil1 oil filters are manufactured by Mann & Hummel, the older Mobil1 filters was made by the same supplier as the AC Delco Gold oil filters, Champ Labs

Those numbers look good on paper but you really don't want that. That means more restricted oil flow, where the bypass valve will be open more of the time, like cold starts, especially if you live in cold climates, letting more unfiltered oil pass through the engine.

There's a video of a guy who cut open his base fram PH series after 5,000 miles, it had separated the cardboard end cap from the filter element, meaning no filtration to the oil going through the separating. At 3,000 miles they are probably fine.

Fram tough guard is rated at 5k miles, extra guard si 10k miles and ultra guard is 16k or 20k miles depending on old Fram ultra or new Fram Ultra but only the Ultra guard can top other brands.

Fram? Do you smoke crack? Fram filters are the worst on the planet. Most car enthusiasts call Fram the "Orange can of death". Watch any of the hundreds of videos on KZbin where people cut open oil filters to check their quality. Fram is always the brand where the tester is horrified by how poorly made they are. I would only put a Fram oil filter on the car of my worst enemy.

If the oil I'm changing is way past due, I change the oil I put a tough guard frame run the car around for 20-30km change it again and use a k&N - the only time I will use a frame.

I always use the cheapest filter Supertech Quaker State or cheap Purilator and full synthetic oil. Your oil bypass re routs the oil and dosen't filter anything till the oil gets hot and thin enough to get thru the filter media. It is just there to catch the chunks. Want your vehicle to last, use full synthetic and change your oil every 10,000 miles.

I have been told FRAM supplies Honda with their blue oil filter 15400-PLM-A02 and Subaru 15208AA15A. They fit my 2007 Honda Civic and my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. They are pretty much identical. Inter relief seems identical, the thread is correct, o-ring is correct. The only difference I see is the Subaru has a 66MM (2.560) 14 flats. The Honda is 65MM (2.520) 14 Flats. The common cup wrench in quality aluminum 65MM. No one makes a 66 except in a stamped steel cup wrench. There garbage and tend to slip. Does both filters fall in your spec that the Honda filter will work on both cars?

Fram, the paper end caps are so much better than steel! And who needs silicone drainback valves when nitrile rubber fails under harsh temperatures? Super Tech from Walmart is so much better and costs less, not that I would use either!

I was confident in the information when the video started. I realized soon after, this video is all about marketing and hype when the 'voice' said "the number five spot is dominated by. . ." and when he said "ack delco." Capital letters are correctly pronounced as those letters. It's "A" and "C" Delco.

YES !! This is the 2nd clown I've heard say "ack-delco" on U-tube. Here's the deal: The "AC" comes from the initials of Alexander Champion, who pioneered a spark plug that was used in early General Motors cars -- and the "AC" brand of spark plugs was of poor quality, but GM stuck with them anyways. GM later adopted the Delphi Group, and they started using "ACDelco" as their go-to logo. I remember back in the '60s, AC plugs were so bad, you'd pull a plug from a GM engine, and your first comment would be: " ACK !! DELCO !! "

Firstable never use conventional or synthetic blend oils. Only full synthetic. Secondly if you want to use fram, use only ultra synthetic one. Extra guard or tough guard one of the worst filters in the market.

I run BOSCH Premium Oil Filters in the famous 95 MERC and in our Acura MDX, with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, 5-W-20; and a FILTERMAG # SS365PR on the MERC. Oil & Filter changes at 5,000 miles. The Bosch Premium has a 20-Micron rating -- and it's MADE IN USA !!
