I just wanna take a minute and let you folks know how much I appreciate your case reviews. My motherboard unexpectedly died a month ago so I was left scrambling to build a new PC, and since I was still using an old _FractalDesign Define R4_ case I figured it was finally time to upgrade, and immediately knew where to look for recommendations. It's a shame it happened right before this "Best of" video's release, but even still I was able to go through your playlist and ultimately decided on picking up the Lancool 216. It's quite a step up from my last case, and it's all thanks to the work you do that I was able to find it.

Same! I've just picked up a Lancool 216... wondering if I should just return it (I've not unboxed it yet) and get a 207. Although the extra space would be nice, especially since it mostly ties (apart from GPU thermals).
@benjaminbenzing2360Ай бұрын
@@AnthonyFuller I also just got the 216 in black friday sale. The problem I had with the 207 is the unfiltered intake at the bottom rear of the case, for some reason they left that without fine mesh or filter so I was concerned about dust. I also really liked the look of the Antec Flux (non-pro), I don't think these guys tested the thermals but it comes with 5 fans and is similar size to the 207. Didn't end up getting it because the 216 can move it's front IO which is better for my setup.

@@benjaminbenzing2360 I agree, but I would've added some dust filtering there myself if I got the 207. I now remember why I actually rejected the 207 before buying the 216. It can only support up to 160mm PSUs, mine (Corsair HX1000) is 180mm.

Alta D1 owner here - Just got this case and am mid-build with it (waiting on more storage to arrive). For niche high-end workstation builds this thing is genuinely amazing and very well built, but it should be noted that one of the two reviewers on amazon (hence the 3.5 star rating) noted that they got a case that somehow got through QC without some screwholes being tapped, and one screwhole being ruined from being tapped twice on the same part. Neither the other reviewer on amazon nor I have encountered this problem so it was likely a rejected part (hence the untappped screwholes) that accidentally got put back onto the assembly line. Cases designed around niche server or workstation usecases do tend to be rather expensive. If its not your niche, yeah its way overpriced - but if it IS your niche, its a dream case and something I would fully recommend. In my case though (pun not intended), I'm building an Epyc workstation with the enormous 13"x13" asrockrack GENOAD8X-2T and enough storage to actually make use of all that IO - but the build itself comes with a pricetag high enough that an $800 case that supports all the parts is actually quite sensible.

If room space allows for it, consider moving it onto a separate standing shelf. Monitor cables work just fine for a couple meters even at 4K moderate refresh rate, and so does USB. This gives back a lot of table space, lets you keep a big case, and makes the system "quieter" too.

I was hoping they'd have reviewed the APNX C1 this year. Maybe not the cream of the crop but still a very good case and it had great sales during Amazon Prime Days this summer and 2 of the 3 colors have remained at good prices since then. Metal case, with very good mesh behind that. It comes included with 3x 140mm fans and 1x 120mm fan, all 30mm thick (86.9 cfm airflow on each of the 140mm fans). The white and black versions remained $99.00 since Prime day, and was $79 on Prime day. The chromaflair color has returned to $169.90 though since Prime day... I was happy with the black. It supports up to 11 fans (3 front, 3 side, 3 top, 1 rear, and1 aimed at the rear of the motherboard/backplate). Further I was able to juryrig two additional fans onto the bottom, on top of the psu shroud. Why? Because my state gets very hot.

I really wish you'd do more mini ITX cases.
@SupraSavАй бұрын
ITX is kind of niche. I have built quite a few custom PCs for people over the years and not one was an ITX.
@EvanOfTheDarknessАй бұрын
Mini ITX isn't a good grouping though. Do think of 20 liter cases? 15 liter? 10-8 liter? Or 5 liter ones? Do they even fit a GPU? I personally prefer sleek, console looking cases to the boxy _technically_ mITX cases that can fit a 4090, but they are not much smaller then a small ATX case, but come with all the drawbacks of mITX cases. But most cases that come out today are of the box variety.
@dycedargselderbrother5353Ай бұрын
I feel like Mini-ITX has been gradually left behind by the evolution of Raspberry Pi, Mini-STX builds as the Pi's prices increased, and now Mini PCs. Mini-ITX had more appeal back when Shuttle PC was in the conversation. With the size of modern GPUs, it seems more sensible to go no smaller than MicroATX or forego discrete graphics and get a Mini PC. IMO, of course. I know there are always people who want the most power in the smallest space and are willing to deal with challenges, but most of them are probably KZbinr tech channels.

@@dycedargselderbrother5353 Smallest isn't what it used to be either. Back in 2017 you could put an i7 and a 1080 Ti into a 7 liter case, and have THE best gaming PC in almost the smallest case. Good luck trying to squeeze a 4090 into any slim case. And single-board mini PC-s have move to fill in the space that mITX has left, It's just a shame that there is no standard there, each mini PC can only fin into it's own case.

Over the past few years, because of this channel, my case of choice for my next build has gone from the 4000D to the meshify c to the torrent then finally to the 207. After years of holding off, I finally decided to go for a new build and chose the 207. My last case was an NZXT phantom 410 and I wish new cases had some of its qualities like drive bays for a bluray burner, and the small clear window for checking post codes and a mesh slot underneath that can fit up to a 140mm fan and tons of bays for drives. I went with the 207 for the compact size, thermal performance and price. If I had looked at the North more thoroughly before making my purchase then I may have gone that route. Overall I still much prefer the aesthetics of the meshify and torrent the most. If the 207 review hadn't come out then I may have never been able to decide between those two.

Torrent still seems the best for an air cooled setup? Would much rather a solid panel on top rather than a pointless mesh/steel cover that exists only for an AIO, with holes that lets in dust and reduces positive airflow

I've had my pc in a Fractal North since Jun of 2023 and I have zero regrets. Looks amazing, and as someone who somkes in their room, its super easy to clean all 3 filters.

I wish Fractal would have made an mITX version of the North. I wanted a Torrent Nano but they became impossible to find around the time I was shopping so I went with a Terra, which I do like, but I'd prefer something with a bit more air cooling performance.

While not made by Fractal, Lian Li did just release the DAN A3 mATX case. It basically looks like an mATX North, and GamersNexus did a review on it.

Just bought the Hyte Y70 Infinite :) Been waiting forever for this to get back in stock again at Amazon (so I could use my bonus bucks). I love the Lian Li 011 look and this dials that up to eleven. I had a Corsair 4000D, which was nice to put lots of fans into, but really way too large for my desk work area. Was going to do a water cool in it, but never found the time and ambition and need MUCH less computer space taken

I'm building a system for visual effects right now and I got myself an NZXT H6 Flow, cuz I like the unique design and it provides good flow, while also being cheaper.

The only downside I see with the Fractal North XL is that it seems to be noisier than the other top performers. 45 dB is by no means loud, but I heard that the wood in the front makes the fans spin faster or at least gives it a louder tone in use.

Recently purchased the 2024 variant of the NZXT H7 Flow and it’s amazing

Your timing is impeccable, I'm literally looking for a case right now after buying some parts yesterday! I was originally going to get the ThermalTakeTower 600, after seeing it as an ad on your channel, but, while it looks really nice, I then discovered the I/O is hidden under the top case fans... Time to see what else is available.

Dude! Steve and his genius Team on Gamers Nexus NEVER cease to disappoint me! I was so frustrated 12 hours ago that NO WHERE was a good PC Case video from this years End! Great Job guys! Youre the Best :D

I switched to the Antec C8 last month, partly based on your review of it. Thanks Steve.

I decided to get the Havn420 based on your review. I'm glad it got the technical award, you can really feel the attention to detail when youre building in it. Having said that, after building in two of them, the North and XL version are definitely the better case for the vast majority of people when you consider things like size, weight, price etc.

Good timing on this! Thank you. My brother recommended this video to me as I am wanting a quiet case for my new PC build. The Antec Flux Pro is ready for me to purchase.

I'm so happy to see you guys get back into cases this year! And I'm even more happy to see that case-design and improvement hasn't stagnated over the last couple years. I personally would have loved to see more honorable mentions, particularly considering price as price seems to fluctuate quite often.

Perfect.. I am literally looking for a new case at the moment.. Could not decide with all the different offerings.. This video along with the review videos for both cases will make it easier to decide.. It's either the Antec Flux or the Lian Li 207.. Thanks. Keep up the great work. 😊

Agree on the North. Put together a black and gold/bronze build using one and it was the most enjoyable assembly I've ever done. Came out great. Hell I was even able to squeeze the ASRock Taichi X670E in there even though the case isn't made for E-ATX.

Last year when building my first PC I went through a lot of videos (tons of them were in this channel) to understand what to buy and what to avoid. I finally decided what case to get based on the review you guys made of the Lian Li Lancool 216. Keep up the great work!

If it’s not on GN’s best case list, I don’t even consider it! You guys set the standard for case reviews.

I want the North XL but it only has 2 HDD spots and I need 3 minimum and the way the hdd cage mounts at an angle I don't think other cages will work

I built a new 12900kf system with the Fractal Pop XL (the first new build that I've done in 4 years). Not only is this case amazing with detachable trays for my hard drive and sata ssd's. It is one of the few cases left that has a optical drive slot (bottom front behind the door panel). There's actually a little tray behind that door, but it can be removed and it fits an optical drive perfectly. My current system is a 12700kf, but in its small case sometimes the video card shuts down because of heat. The Fractal XL is very well ventilated. It only cost about $120 from New Egg.
@osinstallsАй бұрын
That sounds nice. I have similar machines from the sales last year, 12900KF 4090 in Corsair 7000D Airflow (upgrading to that case got the rather large PSU off my desk). Also has detachable trays. My 12700KF spare is in a Antec NX410 ATX case paired with 3060 12gb but could swap that out again later. My old 9600K (GTX1070) has an ITX board is also in a spare NX410. Fractal XL looks very nice though.

I want to love the Lancool 207, because the thermal performance at that price seems unbeatable; but I learned years ago that I just don't have it in me to deal with a cramped space for cable management.
