This was mainly for the people who keep asking me what I'm using lately. I still 💖 the steam controller but it was discontinued 3 years ago at this point. I've been branching out and trying other controllers and remappers.

Have you tried the 8bitdo Ultimate Controller? It seems to have gyro, analogue triggers and back buttons. Only downside I can see is the shape (hand grips don't look comfortable) but I've never tried one myself so I don't know how it performs. I'm UK so it doesn't seem that I can easily purchase the Vader 2.

I don't have the Ultimate but I have other 8bitdo controllers and the limitation is that you can't have analog triggers plus gyro. It's either Xbox mode or Switch mode. Plus they aren't fully supported in ReWasd.

The only thing that’s keeping me from trying it out is the inner back buttons. Designs like that are often not comfortable for my hands. I’d say the most comfortable 4 paddle placement for me was the Elite 2. But that thing breaks if you breath on it.

For those that don't know the dual sense edge has a shorter battery life than the normal PS5 controller. I keep seeing videos where people complain about the battery life on the PS5 controller and not the dual Sense Edge one so all those people should definitely pick up a dual sense edge.

I'd love one too, but I'm not sure if it would help much. As RambleCan says, the issues are with Steam INPUT, not the controller. The new version could have many great features and improvements, but if the software is just as buggy, or likely more buggy, it'll still be frustrating to work with.

Wow, just search about those controllers + rewasd. I bought a Vader 2 last month, loved the controller, and them it stopped working by the second day. I took my money back and bought a Steam controller finally. I lovd using the steam controller, I've been using for New world and Sniper elite 4 a lot, but anything outside steam is a pain, and steam input is terrible for now. I'll probably buy a Apex 2 in the next days to play other things! One other thing: this controller has awesome ergonomics if you use the triggers a lot, but R1 and L1 was kinda out of range, I had the back buttons mapped as R1 and L1 because it was easier tu use with frequency

I don't know what kind of issue you had with the Apex 2 but personally I've never experienced any type of dead zone in the controller. It feels as if it responds immediately. Of course, that's only if you're testing the controller with the FlyDigi Space Station. ReWasd could potentially fuck with the dead zone settings, especially if you're assigning the default configuration for an Xbox controller, which comes with very specific dead zone configurations.
@RambleCan
@RambleCan Жыл бұрын
This was in reWASD but it's on a config with the same deadzone settings when using the Vader 2 or Apex 2. The Apex 2 would need a higher deadzone than the Vader 2 and that was my experience as well as another person using that same config (Star Citizen) with the Apex 2.
@ItsBoyRed

ReWASD could be the greatest if they wanted to listen to feedback, i have 3 main issues with it, and each one of them is a dealbreaker for me. 1. Forced poll rates, they forcefully limit it at low values, for the Dualsense its 125hz, when its 550hz on steam. this makes the gyro feel floaty and gives a noticble inputlag. 2. Weird acceleration on gyro, that cannot be turned off. 3. No linux support Each of these points has been brought up multiple times to the Devs, and they are firm that they have no interest at all in any of these points, sadly. I like their advanced settings, their snappy software, the ability to save your configs easily as a file, instead of steams glitchy cloud solution. It's also amazing that the config is chosen in the software, and not by what game/program it detected to be running, causing issues with weird launchers or overlays... looking at you steam..

Thank you for pushing gamepad design in the correct direction. For many years, I’ve been saying that I can design a better gamepad than what’s being made by Sony or Microsoft. I can also design better ones than these. If Sony or Microsoft wants me to design a “Masterpad” for them, let me know. I can bring console gaming into the future. I can actually do the same for keyboard and mouse. Although, I must give props to Sony on the adaptive triggers. I didn’t see that as an option. I can improve those too, still.

I feel like every new controller that comes out looks interesting to me until I find out there's no dual-stage triggers. It's weird how not one single (chinese cloning) company has tried to fill the void the steam controller left. You'd think there would be at least one clone on the market. Or are we just crazy and the thing was never any good? I've got 4 of em, one dead with a broken L-button for spare parts, two and three in use, nr. four still in the packaging. You can have different sensitivities on the gyro by default with trigger squeezing (trigger dampening in gyro settings). For other adjustments put a modeshift on the gyro and select the button / touch you want to activate it and in that modeshift you can have a different sensitivity. You could also apply an Action Layer to change the sensitivity but that route would require a load and unload binding to toggle between the Layer and Default.
