In this video I review my P61A Harman pellet stove. Like you, I have oil heat at my home and was looking for a cheaper alternative, I found it in this pellet stove. Harman pellet stoves are hands down the best pellet stove you can buy.
Thanks for watching!

I have the P-68 and I absolutely love it. I has actually paid for itself by savings on the oil prices. I was spending over $2000 a year on oil and now I spend around $1000 a year on pellets. One of the best features that you didn't mention about the ash pan is that you can burn a whole ton of pellets before you even have to empty the pan. I have only had to replace the igniters a couple of times so I keep a couple spares on hand and they are not real difficult to replace. Worth every penny ! Best Pellet stove hands down .

Would the p43 be too big for a 12'X 10' living room? I could open the door to the rest of the cabin and try to get the excess heat to escape down the hallway. Thanks for any advice.

Hi again. I bought all my piping and the through wall thimble at the stove shop I bought my stove at. I do not have an outside air intake, the reason being, my home was built in the 1970’s. If my home were built recently, I would absolutely need an outside air intake. I installed my stove myself, was not difficult.

I bought a Harman P68 a few years ago. It is a $4,000.00 POS! I had a St. Croix for 18 years and there is no comparison between the two. The Harman is far less efficient, far more maintenance, and far, far, more poorly designed. I've had nothing but issues with it from day one. Harman is extremely disappointing as far as customer service and tech support, or lack thereof. It's the pellet stove I wanted to love.

Good video. I've had a Harman Accentra insert for 4 years. It has been excellent. It's nice because I can easily empty the ash pan with stove running. Dont spend money on OEM blowers, get a no brand one off of amazon. There is no need to buy a new Harman stove, if you can find a used one for a good price and you are handy, you can refurbish one if these stoves very easily. The only thing I will say about living with a pellet stove is that I will not live in a house without also having a woodstove. I have my Harman Accentra and then I have my Lopi Liberty woodstove. There is something to be said for being able to cut down a tree and heat your house caveman style, if needed. Yes I have a great generator but a woodstove is the best insurance you can have in a blizzard. Just my .002

Excellent info 👍. I'm considering a house in Eastern Maryland that is 2900 ft and it currently has propane heat which I know is going to be expensive. So I was looking around for a wood stove and talked to a guy that does maintenance restoration and sales of used wood stoves steered me towards the Harmon 61a telling me that it was the absolute best for my application. After watching your video I agree with him it looks perfect for what I need. Do you have a preferred pellet and will they sell and deliver by the ton? Also what state are you in if you don't mind me asking? Here in Eastern Maryland the winter is pretty mild compared to many places because I've got water on both sides of me. Thank you 👍

Hi, Thank you for the great review. Some questions... 1. I noticed you have placed the unit at a corner and it does not look like a basement. Do you find this unit to heat up just a small area or do you see heat getting dispersed evenly across your entire home with the current setup you have ? 2. You mentioned 4 tons of pellets an year that would be 8000 pounds or 200 bags of 40 pound pellets. Is this correct ? That seems like an awful lot of pellets. Is this your primary source of heat ? If that is the case, I am curious how you are centralizing the heat to even out heat all across the home.
@TheComebackKid
@TheComebackKid 2 жыл бұрын
Hi ialexei, first off thanks for watching, I appreciate it. 1. I have a 2600 sq ft home, by placing the stove in the corner, it blows the air into the center of my home and heats my entire home. 2. Correct, I go through 4 tons of pellets per year. I started going through 5 tons a year, watch my pellet stove biggest mistake video regarding how I was effectively wasting a ton of pellets per year. But, yes. My pellet stove is my primary source of heat. I run my pellet stove 24/7 from September/October through March.

I want to use one of these stoves as a primary heat source for my house. But my concern is that I have to shut it down completely and let it cool to remove ash etc but living in Minnesota it can get to 20 degrees below zero so I don’t want to shut it down too long to perform maintenance. How long do you have to shut it down to clean the ash pot etc.?

Hi Jeff. To clean my stove I shut it down as shown in the video in my stove is shut down for probably no more than 20 minutes or so usually shorter. I understand it’s cold out where you are but even with negative temperatures where I am I have never had a problem where in the 15 or 20 minutes my stove is shut down to clean it. I purchased a heatilator EcoChoice CAB 50 (50,000 btu's) eight years ago for less than $1500.oo It has a 120 lb. pellet hopper and operates off a thermostat with multiple setting choices on the stove. I can leave the house for as many as 4 days depending on the weather and weekends no matter how cold it gets! I have had to replace 2 ignitors and 1 thermo-coupler. I highly recommend any pellet stove should be plugged into a (surge protector, conditioner, battery backup unit)... about $150.oo. This helps protect sensitive electronics and, in the event of a power outage, will run the stove for 12-16 hours. I chose this stove because it has 3 blower openings which allowed me to fabricate 2 sheet metal trunklines into my furnaces trunkline so it heats rooms with closed doors. I also have coiled copper tubing around the exhaust pipe that heats my water. This next summer I'm installing my gasifier I built to capture the exhaust gases from the stove to run a generator for the shop/garage. Good luck to you with whatever brand of stove you decide to buy, I will admit they're not all created equal.
