Because Porsche actually do manuals, with that same engine as well. A 500 hp 6 cylinder sports car is a much more fitting car to have a manual than a 1000 hp V12 hybrid or a 750 hp turbo V8 super series Mclaren.

Not every car suits a manual. The whole point of a lower power expensive porsche sports car is the driving experience. It isn't a GT or a hypercar, it should have a manual.

I love all of your finalists. I own the 718 RS and I wonder why so many opined that it’s only fault was a lack of a manual gearbox? None of these cars has a manual gearbox. They all have automatic manual transmissions. I think Porsche’s PDK is universally admired. So since they all have similar gearboxes why was the Porsche singled out for that?

Gearbox aside, nothing is beating the Porsche when it comes to bang for your buck. They say that's not the point, but to 99.9% of the population, its the most important parameter. The Lambo is awesome, but it has a bit too much "look at me" factor. Given the price, I'd rather have the Porsche, and damn near a mansion in my home state of Ohio 😂

Fair point but I think it's because Porsche (unlike most others) isn't a total lost cause since they still offer manuals on other cars (eg 911 T, GT3 and S/T). Still a bit unfair but I feel the same way - I'd buy the SRS if a manual was available but I hate PDK.

I agree, but in the case of the Spyder RS, it’s the first RS badged car thats stated goal isn’t lap times, so the usual reason Porsche doesn’t offer a manual is out the window, and in that lens, it’s a missed opportunity.

Spyder RS experience is something else, no other car brings to the table this sound and feeling with no top, a future classic when people start to know it, a lot of car guys didn’t know about it’s existence and Porsche never promoted it too much.

Considering the Lambo is so much heavier now, but yet it gives up nothing compared to the previous SVJ, and yet it's more efficient, and revs even higher, I have to applaud and say, it's a lambo that is crazily fun, but also great to live with. I'm doubtful it could keep up with the 750s around a track, but lets be honest, these are all road cars, that lambo wins it for me.

@ that’s ridiculous. The lambo is the one with AWD, the more easy to drive. It’s 1.5s slower than a GT3 around a short handling track and it’s slower than a Huracan Evo on another. The problem is it weighs 2 tons.

They are all amazing and special cars. But the Porsche RS, is the most unique open air car we have seen in years and you can beat the crap out of it every weekend at the track and it will just say give me more. I think that is what makes a car a winner. Porsche's are so tough, they expect you to abuse them, so they engineer them to take it. But you can't go wrong with any of the others, every one is a winner.

Not sure I understand the comment about the SRS not having the intake sound of the GT4RS. Same intakes, sounds is slightly different depending on roof on, bimini on and roof off. However it is a very similar sound and with the bimini on it's even better than the GT4RS. Sounded to me like the Porsche should have won...🙂

Against the Lamborghini, well, it was said this was not a bang-for-buck, but this isn’t a hypercar competition. Dollars should matter. Matt said as much in the GT comparison. Though no one explicitly said the RS’ fault was its ‘fair-weather-only’ lack of practicality, there was some words that indicated it isn’t the most livable. As a performance car? If the RS engages you so much in driving that you want a manual to complete the experience, take the extra half-MILLION dollars and either ALSO get the Bentley for the best of both worlds or spend the money to fit a manual yourself (wondering if Special Wishes would do such a thing?) Half-MILLION dollars applied the RS Spyder surely buys you your dream car and still comes cheaper than the Lambo.

Can we agree that Lambo is not gonna be anyone's daily driver? Given that it's essentially a toy, we can ask the question, "Are there better ways for a car enthusiasts to spend $750k?" Personally, for that kind of scratch I'd have the Spyder RS for a canyon carver. That'd leave me $500k or so, which would buy a membership at some place like Autobahn CC, and a dedicated track car with real safety equipment in case I ball it up. Or skip the CC membership and buy a race car I could run with SCCA, NASA, WRL, etc. along with nice tow rig and trailer. I'd still have enough left to pay entry fees for a couple of years, and have a race shop maintain the car.

I just turned down an allocation for a 718 Spyder RS because of no manual and those ghastly center locks wheels. The top is a bit absurd, but I would have gladly taken the offer with a manual and 5 bolt wheels. Maybe it isn't fair to complain about Porsche not offering a manual in this car, but I'm 100% sure I would have never been offered the allocation if it could be ordered with a manual. That is, they would have all been sold already. Think of the PDK only 991 GT3s. Although I doubt PAG is going back to a manual with this fabulous Boxster. Too bad.

The vette doesn’t have the interior, ride handling on the road, I’m not talking G’s. There is way more for a performance car than just 0-60. I’ve driven the 765 and the new Z06. I have Z06 money, but I’m saving for the 765 type car because it just flat out drives better, has a better presentation, packaged much better and is fun with the exotic factor. If you have the money to buy these cars, you don’t look the vettes way because as a total package, doesn’t compare with these cars. Performance isn’t everything. Not only that, unless you are a race car driver, you will never max out any of these cars on the freeway. They’re too fast now for the average driver.
