Best pet cones and cone alternatives - review of dog and cat cones and suits

Plastic cones from the vet are great - they stop most pets pulling out stitches and causing more problems for themselves. But they’re not a one-size fits-all solution - pets of certain proportions might struggle with moving around, getting comfortable or even eating and drinking with them on.

it is cute seeing the cats and dogs able to do normal things with the cones but what would be most useful is video example of the pets attempting to groom common surgical areas, like feet (hind paws especially), lower stomach, and face.

I love a recovery suit for female cats getting spayed, not only stops her getting to the wound but also any other animals getting at it. For my male cat getting neutered a recovery suit wouldn't help so I got him a donut type collar with a draw string that he hasn't gotten off yet which is great

I had a Rottweiler that didn't like bandages and she was so rambunctious she had several dew claw injuries and cut her leg several times thinking she could get under the chain link fence. She would have the bandage off in minutes no matter how much it was taped. My solution was to put a sock on her the longer it went up her leg the least likely she would take it off. Since she had big legs i didn't have to adjust the top they just stayed on but if you need to adjust it just make a cut from the top long enough that you can tie it tight enough to stay on but not so tight that it cuts off blood supply.

I didn’t like the suit much because they can still touch the incision over the fabric over and over with friction and then the saliva penetrating the fabric would be the same as not using anything just would take longer to get into. The comfy cone is the best imop

My dog is very short and always gets leaves and sometimes twigs and seeds stuck to her fur when she goes outside. I think using a recovery suit may be best for her spaying so she wont get so much stuff on her incision.
