Genius Bro!! I just did my first EVER Smoke on my PB Classic last night. Steaks and Burgers. I was struggling to open that plate with my Tongs to Sear them after the Smoke. (They came out AMAZING BTW😊)

Mine has a bench on that side but that should still work well as if I need to set something on the bench that rod shouldn't get out of get in the way if I have to pull it in and out of whatever the case is I should be able to work around it

I think I used 3/8 but you could also use 1/8. Just don't use anything too large like 1/2 as you might have trouble getting it to fit properly.
