Awesome demonstration vid. I use my cast iron to reheat (on low) my leftover pizza.

It is. It is. I'm slightly baffled as to why they didn't make the rim to hold the coals more prominent. To keep it from weighing more maybe? It does work so well though. (Thanks for binging on our videos. We appreciate your comments too.)

Cool video, been wondering if i need one of those. I have one of the lodge fire stands that would fit that pretty well, but like you, my lodge table would do as well. I have cooked a small pizza in my 12” Lodge dutch oven upside down using the Camp Maid equipment, and using the dutch oven right side up, using the parchment paper to get the pizza out, both came out similar to yours.

So cool that you used the 12" Dutch oven upside down. Sounds like it's pretty much the same. The Cook It All is a bit bigger, though I'm not sure how much more actual benefit that provides. Do you find the Lodge fire stand useful? We don't have one yet.

The fire stand is useful if you don’t want to get out like your cooking swing set or my mountain man grill, but you will need to almost stack fire around it controlled to regulate heat since you can’t move it up and down. It’s almost like having two fires, but so is most over the fire cooking. When I need to cook something in a pan on an open fire I prefer my 36” rebar sticks across one edge of the fire pit and just push coals or small fires under that. I can also move the pot around much more safely, and use more than one pan at a time, and be doing something else with the fire on the opposite side.

And it's rebar for the win! Thank you for the info and insights. Verrrty helpful.

Well you succeeded in making me hungry for pizza. I really enjoy your demos. Always gives me an idea what “toys” are out there before deciding to buy. Thanks for the ideas. Due to weight and size considerations I probably wouldn’t buy this but you can never tell. Things change. I like the idea of the cook table. Allows for not leaving a trace.

😊 Thanks @D & P! That's really our goal - sharing ideas 💡. It is heavy. I think Lodge's idea is that the Cook It All can replace other cast iron camp cookware to actually decrease the overall weight. So many folks already have and are happy using a set of cast iron items that they may not need this one. Because of that it may be a better fit for those new to cast iron camp cooking because of how many different ways it can be used. Especially the pizza 🍕oven configuration which is it's draw for me. Kind of unrelated: It reminds me of how my dad would carry his cast iron Dutch ovens and skillets in a burlap bag. When cooking over a campfire he was masterful at using a Dutch oven. He baked pheasant, made stews, and out of this world desserts. The more I use and learn about cast iron campfire cooking, the more I appreciate what he was able to do. In all our time together,he didn't make a Dutch oven pizza. I wonder what he would have thought about this contraption. 🤔

I have been trying to do the same, finding a garden/camping pizza solution. Do you think this has any advantage over a Dutch oven with a pizza stone in the bottom? The cook it all my have other tricks that I am not aware of yet though. The pizza looked scrumptious BTW
@wobblyotteroutdoors3 жыл бұрын
If you already have a Dutch oven with a pizza stone that fits, I think that would work just as well for cooking the pizza. Using parchment paper under the pizza makes it easier to get the pizza in and out. The advantage of the Cook it all is that it is made to work with the griddle pan on the bottom with the pot inverted as a dome. It makes it very convenient to put the pizza in and take it out. @Philip Irwin mentioned turning his Dutch oven upside down to cook pizza in the same way. 12" Dutch oven will accommodate a smaller pizza than the Cook It All. The size difference probably isn't enough to be a deal breaker though. I like the convenient design of the Cook It All for baking pizza. Sounds like I need to cook pizza in a Dutch oven for a true comparison. The Cook It All does give more versatility over a Dutch oven in that the griddle/grill lid can be used separately. Thank you for the kind words about the pizza. It was tasty and the crust was so nice.
