I wanted to test a dark space to see how Cubicasa would do for measurements by using a headband light. I scanned my living room and sunroom at night with only a lamp on in the living room. I often will get into basements of older homes for remodel work and being able to scan the space is really the only way. I have in the past got out paper and pencil or used MagicPlan which was a lot more work. When I got my scan back and looked at the dimensions I was surprised to find that I was only 1" off in the two rooms where I was off up to 5" on other test scans. I did find I needed to hold the camera lower a bit to allow the light over and into the corners. I am planning on using the headband light even in lighted rooms when I scan a whole house just to see the results. Anyone else have info on using a light to help brighten the space and getting better results?

I have a home to scan with a finished basement. Should I scan as a continuous scan and start on the first floor, then the second and then back down to the basement? or does sequence not matter?

Hi, You need to scan everything from the property that you would like to have displayed on the floor plan in one single scan, including floors, garage, decks, porches, detached areas, etc. You can walk outside while still scanning. Sunlight does not affect the scanning process. If it’s dark outside, we recommend that you use lights. We advise you to start from the bottom and work your way up.

What if it's not scanning? My scan stops and takes a picture immediately, so I can't scan. It's also grayed out

I noticed you seem to walk into rooms randomly down the hall, cris-crossing, etc as opposed to always working rooms from right to left. Its it a best practice to stay with a consistent direction or does it not matter?
@cubicasa4133 Жыл бұрын
The Best Practices don't specify a need to work from right to left when scanning. Prior to scanning, we do recommend users take a moment to plan a logical path through the property to ensure lights are on and doors are open. If there are multiple floors we advise starting from the bottom and working up. Here is the best scanning technique: www.cubi.casa/support/scanning/best-scanning-technique/
I scan into closets to the best I can without getting to caught up into it. I have been impressed with how Cubicasa generates my closets with little to no entry.

What if scan didn't pick up a room, do the scanning need to be redone?
@cubicasa41332 жыл бұрын
If it's just a room, you can open a Fix Request and include a sketch of where the room needs to go, windows, doors, etc.

Walk-In Closet If a walk-in closet is large enough, please scan it. Otherwise, just stand at the doorway and pan to both sides. No need to walk in. Remember, you should back out of a closet if it’s small. Normal Closet Not necessary, but up to you. You can open closet doors and show the interior of closets in your video, however this is not necessary. Our software is smart enough to know when it sees a closet door that there is a closet behind it. If the closet contains special equipment, you may decide to open the door to show us what is behind it.

Small closets don't need to be opened. I've kept a 6x3 closet closed and it still got everything. Good luck.
