Your advice about the books is absolutely golden mate. Power cuts mean no internet Political subterfuge means no internet EMP means no internet ..... FOR YEARS Books are an old fashioned fountain of knowledge that we take for granted because we can always look stuff up on the internet. Well if the grid goes down all of that wisdom is lost...possibly forever About two hours in to my last extended power cut I realised that until someone fixes the electricity Im cooking, sleeping or reading.

Another great video, thank you JR! Did a bit more food prepping today. I picked up a dozen cans of tomato sauce, 6 pounds of pasta and 40 more pounds of rice. I also ordered another two weeks worth of freeze dried food in a BOGO sale. I have been growing my own veggies and ordered more of the heirloom seeds that worked well for me. Last week I got two 100 gallon rain barrels and built a home made Berkey water filter with two buckets and some Berkey water filters. We all get there a little at a time. Keep prepping, pray for peace and God bless y'all.

So right. I may spend a little more, but it's spent on a variety of preps. My motto is, some of everything is better than having too much of one, and when SHTF hits, missing that one more important item is not there or not enough. Thank you for your posts. I'm grey-man some what, and don't say too much.

Just another Tip for your Viewers around Propane tanks; if you have an Older BBQ propane tank going empty, it’s a Great Option to Swap them out for a Newer Filled one, were you see the BlueRhino tanks at Many Locations. It a Cheaper way to get an Updated Tank being Filled, for Cheap!

I work for Books a Million and it is always a good idea to check out our bargain section. We have TONS of survival manuals, and even hand to hand manuals that are fantastic for these. Some are under $10 and I love picking them up. Also, check out the home and garden section as we have DIY books, such as those for welding, electrician reference, and even small off-grid cabin making.

I can vouch for the Jim Cobb books. They have some age on them, I got several of his books back in 2012 and 2013. Everything he wrote is still relevant today as then.

A friend has those OG Foxfire books she bought in the 70s. Old hardcovers. Good reads. Great insights to the mindset of the people in the books showing and sharing skills. A different generation, with alot of knowledge being passed on to us.

I noticed the bucket garden in the video. The one type of growing method I have had very poor results from are buckets. This is the fourth season of my garden and like you, I've spent time and effort trying different types of plants, seeds, locations, soils, and especially different planting times. For example after three years of failure, I planted corn four weeks earlier than we are suppose to here, and babied them in the beginning when it was a bit too cool, then I planted some more at the "proper" time. Only the corn planted early produced a nice crop. After the first year, I learned to plant squash very late. The climate changes really mean adapting to what happens, not what used to happen in your area. Build up your supplies to include, extra poles, shade cloths, extra water, drip hoses, frost blankets, extra neem oil, castile soap for sprays etc, This year the yield has been really good, but I've had to really learn to dance with the different and unpredictable weather.

Yeah, I have started to move away from the buckets. Plants that produce small fruit seem to do okay in them here. That’s why I have cherry tomatoes growing in them instead of beefsteaks.

My great aunt passes away several years ago. I stated at her home and she had a ton of books that were going to be thrown out. Something told me to look at them and that book wad in there. A little voice told me to take it. So glad I did. She was looking over me that day and I believe her spirit guided me that day!!

Another really good one, JR! I've been a book addict all my life, and have a pretty comprehensive and eclectic collection! Just bought a few more portable water containers, and a stand alone sealer for my mylar bags! It's starting into harvest season, and the beans, peas, tomatoes and potatoes are bursting out! Lots of work in the weeks and months to come, but that is better than the alternative. Stay well, and best wishes to you and yours, my friend!! 👍

So true, and as many helpful subjects as you can get. I have about 5TB of data downloaded from the Internet for free on many subjects to go along with the books, knowledge will be a huge asset under some scenarios. If you look hard enough huge amount is free if you put some effort into it.

I recently purchased the medical book that you talked about in the video. I have just started going through it and it has so much great information in it. Thanks for the advise on some of the other books, I will be looking for some of them. I have been expanding my garden a little bit each year and experimenting with different things to learn what works and what doesn't. I have a tiny yard but really want to try some type of fruit tree. Maybe I will try a peach or pear tree next year. I love those.

I live in an apartment in northern Michigan. So, I grow everything in tote boxes and buckets. I have blue berries in buckets, going to switch to tote boxes. I've been looking into fruit trees that will grow in containers. There are dwarf varieties that will grow in containers. Maybe considering some dwarf varieties will help you with your space limitations. That's what I'm going to do when I get that far.

Good video! Books will definitely be a valuable asset if things go bad, especially with the grid. Camp stoves are nice (propane type) but it’s a good investment to have some that burn natural materials. Now that I’m down south I may get one of those solar ovens. Anyone have any experience with them ??? Will it cook rice and beans? (Assuming, yes , but is it practical)
