The redshift stem IS a game changer! The weight held me back a few months before I couldn't resist anymore. At the first ride I wished I had bought it earlier. It's not just comfy, it also makes the ride on gravel faster because it just eats the bumps

Excellent video David and a very fair summary too as usual. I can certainly agree on the two products I use from the list: Wahoo Bolt and the Redshift stem, worth every penny, reliable and very effective indeed. I have two of the stems, one on a road bike and one on a gravel bike, the difference on the Lincolnshire's rough roads and variable gravel tracks is like night and day - road buzz is eliminated entirely for me and every bump is softened. I look where I am going a lot more these days instead of looking for sketchy surface features to avoid as the stem will keep the rubber on the road and all but the worst holes become unimportant in terms of control and direction of the bike.

It's nice that Zipp are bringing the prices of their wheels down with the 303S, it really is an appealing offer. Have seen them as low as 880€ here in Germany. BUT: I know several people who have tremendous issues with them. The hubs are incredibly poor quality, bearings seize after a couple of months of use and my wheelbuilder is giving me the same feedback, stating that Zipp Rims are really badly manufactured. I'd stay away from them.
@siitan833 жыл бұрын
I dont understand how this is appealing? when you get a highend 60-65mm wheelset for this price from winspace, thats better in every way measurable.. even farsports and yoeleo are better

Great video David. You are rapidly becoming one of the few bike reviewers I trust. I’ve just fitted a set of the new GP5000S TR tyres and they went on easy, inflated without hassle and held air without sealant for a good few days. I’m waiting on a dry day before I ride them. As for the high-flow valves, does anybody actually inflate tubeless tyres with the valve core fitted? I don’t. I inflate the tyre without the valve core and seat the bead, then deflate, apply sealant (Using a 30ml medical syringe), fit valve core and inflate.

Great video and summary. I’m intrigued by the 303s wheels - what’s everyone’s opinion here? In my mind £1000 for a pair of wheels is still very expensive, even if they’re considered better ‘value’ compared to Zipp’s other offerings. Am I just a cycling cheap skate here or are they so good that they will transform a £2000-3000 bike beyond recognition? 🤔🤷🏻♂️
@cnay29833 жыл бұрын
Just get some hunts or light bicycle wheels. Probably lighter and faster for less money. Zipp is just a mamil brand
@johnflynn49233 жыл бұрын
A pair of ICAN 38mm with sapim spokes will transform a 2-3k bike just as much at half the price plus with the savings you can buy a set of Assioma power meter pedals and still have just about enough for a swift half down the local at the end of the day.

I note Conti say for the 25mm GP5000S TR there's a max internal rim width of 21mm. Any anecdotal evidence to say they're ok on a 23mm internal rim width? Currently using 23mm P Zero tubed on my 23mm internal rim width wheels.
@Digi203 жыл бұрын
when combining skinny tires with wider rims (epsecially hookless ones) you always have the risk of cutting the sidewalls with little stones or even riding on the sidewalls during aggresive cornering. if it worked for you until now you might be okay.

16:00 "low cost entry to power measurement". *Checks prince*: Yep, they cost as much as an actual power meter crankset. Yikes.
@davidarthur3 жыл бұрын
Don't think you can get a dual sided crank power meter for the same price though? But yes there are some quite cheap left side only crank arm systems that are also a valid option - but then not as easy to swap between different bikes
@fVNzO3 жыл бұрын
@@davidarthur thing is if you buy the dual pedals you end up paying the same as you would for a set of cranks, even the single pedal option is more expensive than a left side ultegra arm. So while they're perhaps convenient, I feel like it's a very niche item.
@alanpeirce72923 жыл бұрын
@@fVNzO far more accurate than a lot of crank arm based power meters. A lot of spider power meters also require a new crankset - which is also adds to the cost. The duos offer one of the cheapest and simplest means of entering into a highly accurate dual sided power meter.
@fVNzO3 жыл бұрын
@@alanpeirce7292 issue is. One sided power meter is adequate for 99% of Cyclists. While they aren't highly accurate they're very consistent which is exactly what you want. The 1% that needs accurate power reading to each leg will already be racing regularly in leagues and similar, perhaps even semi pro. At that point you're already invested in very expensive gear. I doubt these will do it for you over a lighter integrated system. These pedals are a great idea but they need to come way down in price before being considered an entry point into power reading.
