The sen 8 is a great shoe, I can take it out (not often) even for a MAF / easy run and it still is brilliant, This morning I did 10k @ 8.30 min/miles my heart never went over 128bpm and I am 190lbs. I shall definitely be running my 13.1 races in it this autumn /spring.

I'm going to run the Richmond, Virginia Marathon in the Vaporfly this fall. Recently did a marathon practice run in them and my legs felt relatively fine afterwards despite only using them for 5K / 10Ks up until then.

I have a pair of the Phantasms, and I agree they felt a bit not quite right initially, the mesh rubbed and I just didn't feel the energy in the blade. However I have persisted and have about 60-70km in them now and they are actually fantastic, im not sure what it is but im glad I persisted, the mesh has soften and now fits and feels great, the composite blade definitely has a sweet spot also, and once you get in the zone it really puts you in a good position and you can feel the pop. I now wouldn't hesitate picking these up on a race day

Tom: Yes i absolutely agree with you, The Phantasm CF is a fantastic shoe, they are supersmooth and fun, really sad if someone dont wanna try them out because of this video. I am not sure how Believe in the Run test these shoes (and HOW could they give an honest review to an shoe when the shoe is not the correct size they wear in the first place ?!, If a shoe dont fit me, i dont use it, i get the correct size, then try it/use it. what is the test protocol ? , for what i can tell it must be all flat running on perfect asphalt, for sure no hills up and down. Because there is where this shoe really shines, for fast steep downhill running this is the best shoe ever made, no comparison, if salomon ahead of launching this shoe said it was a special made shoe for fast donwhill running and climbing up the next one, i would say they hit the nail on the head. I`ve had no issues with the upper or the tongue whatsoever, i sized them down 1/2 size as reccomended, they fit like a glove. And, they can take a real beating and are super stable, i use them on all sorts of surfaces and conditions, alot of the other shoes would not hold up there, because they are to unstable and fragile made. I guess that is not important when testing/reviewing a shoe. I would recomend people reading the RunRepeat review of the regular Phantasm and then add that the Phantasm CF is way better than regular one (Yes i have tried them both) then you would get a more fair introduction to this phenomenal shoe. runrepeat.com/salomon-phantasm

I'll be running Chicago in about a month and will be using old reliable Nike Vaporfly Next% 2. I'll also run Houston in January, but may go with the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2, I've done a few runs in them and I like them, it's the day after soreness that kicks my butt.

Running Berlin (in just over 3 weeks!) in the Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2! Tried the original Saucony Endorphin Pro for my goal half last year after getting a pair on discount, but it just didn't agree with my feet, whereas the AAP2 was great on a 19 mile long run the other week. The larger (longer?) toebox works for me as a regular Altra/Topo wearer with a Morton's neuroma.

hehe I got a pair of pro 2 too, I like it but for racing, I would go with Vaporfly or Alphafly or even Tempo Next% before ... I guess it depends on your stride and pace, I usually run using long strides but relatively slow cadence for my speed (3:40m/km)

Great video, and all we need to know. I‘ll start in Berlin, shooting for 03:45:00 and I haven’t made the shoe decision yet. Alphafly v1 or Endorphin Pro 3. Going back on forth, will definitely take both to Berlin but I am leaning a bit more towards the Saucony.

3 marathons in 9 months, three different shoes. #bigbonedflatfootedrunner. 1. VaporrFly 2: 3:28, 157 bpm 2. Endorphin Pro 2: 3:25:35, (no chest strap) 3. Zoom Fly 4: 3:24:55, 150 bpm, toughest course but best training plan/taper The Zoom Fly 4 had the best balance, stride length, balance and heart rate. I'd still pick the Endorphin Pro 2 as I got to 22 miles faster before my body broke down, 23 miles for Zoom Fly 4. Next race is CIM in December for my 4th marathon in a year. Ordered Upstep orthotics so will be between the Alpha Fly with support, or the Endorphin Pro 3 (fingers crossed)!!

I got RC Elite v2 from running warehouse. They’re usually really quick about fulfillment, but this took a while to arrive - might be one of those ship direct items. Few extra days of wait was def worth it for me. They’re plush as heck, doesn’t feel like you have to trade in comfort for marathon performance.

I got an 8-hour road race. Did the same 12 hour version last August. Looking to do the same distance in 4 less hours. Going to pick up the novablast but will also bring the ff more v3 (might get v4) and I have a pair of altra torin luxe that are a half size too big but fits perfect with a second 6mm insole in it which brings it up to a whopping 34mm stack. The nova seems perfect for it but I might start out with a heavier shoe and switch to the nova at the 4 or 6 hour mark. 6k loops over and over and over 😂

So it really depends on your foot. I’ve made the following work with my wider midfoot: -NB supercomp trainer 2E- I mean it comes in wide and is probably the most comfortably fitting plated shoe I’ve worn. -NB RC2- I ran wineglass in this last October with no big issues -ASICS metaspeed sky 1- I love this shoe for lower distance speed. But half size up as it runs small -ASICS metaspeed edge 2- ran falmouth in this recently right out of the box and it felt great -saucony endorphin pro 3- it’s a killer shoe. There’s a good reason Thomas and Robbe put it in the top 3. If you search “wide” on the bitr website you’ll find the plated roundup I wrote that I periodically update. Or hit me up on Instagram and I try to respond to everyone!

Just got the NB SC Trainer yesterday and went for a slower 10k today, first impressions are good. No hotspots and feels very plush, but not dead like the More v3 I tried last year. Like you said I just wanted 1 shoe to sort of do everything with. They aren't 'heavy' but yeah they are quite a bit higher weight than the others on the list. I'll be running a half in them in 10 days so we'll see how they do at a little higher pace. My goal pace is around 5:00/km and I think they'll handle it well.

The novelty wore off for me after 2 or 3 runs. They feel like boats. I still enjoy them but not for long runs which I bought them for, so not sure where they fit in the rotation. Easy days I guess but they seem overkill.

I wanted to buy Saucony Endorphin Speed 3, but the price on Amazon was at that time 190 €, but the Pro 3 were only 205 €, so i decided to buy Pro 3 instead (i dont understand Amazon pricing, changing all the time). Only did 1 tempo run in them so far, but they feel great and im happy i got them. Still got 2 pairs of Speed 1 with some km left in them.

Alpha2 - I've only run once in it but I think it's better overall. I did a test run at the same HR to compare with brand new Alpha's and ran faster in the 2's. A lot of other reviewers love it, but all of you pan it. I dunno what to say about that. Kinda confused. How much do you weigh?

Have Dublin marathon in October and currently deciding on shoe, wore Puma Deviate Elites for a half marathon on Sunday past and was the final straw, really don't like the hard plastic shell upper - really bad blisters! Currently between the top 3 for me, and I'm still undecided! My head says Endorphin Pro 3 but because I love the Takumi Sen 8 so much (so much) I am thinking would the adios pro 3 be a perfect fit for me! (Help!)

I want to limit the training milage in them so they last longer, what shoes are a good cheaper alternative to train in? Currently I have Newton Distance shoes, but I'd like something that has a similar feel in the sole (drop and stack height).

I will be training for the Lisbon Half Marathon in March. Possibly the fastest half marathon in the world and is home to the world record at the half marathon distance. Unfortunately I do not have a good line of shoes to train or race in. I just finished this past weekend at 1:55. I am hoping to find a shoe to help me progress my running. Unfortunately I don't have many shops that offer any decent shoes. I am interested in the Saucony line ups because it could help me cover the many types of runs. Speed, long and race. I would enjoy a pair of speed 3s and I love the blue/yellow wave. I just subscribed to Instagram, Facebook and KZbin. Hopefully I can win a pair of shoes.
