My V1 has superior range over my uniden R8 but ai like the R8 interface more. The V1 is range king !

The escort radar detector suction cup, have never come down by the way. The Valentine suction cups suck and that’s why I use a visor mount for my Valentine. However, I recently switched to the redline escort and love it even better because of its programability.

You are fortunate. It lost auction a couple of days ago when we drove through Colorado and the windshield temperature dropped as we hit high elevation.

@@RadarBusters…the Valentine would have dropped at the base of the mountain in the 1990s…the 2000s…the 2010s…and now I see in the 2020s as well. Great detectors but they should engineer a better OEM windshield mount setup imo.

Really from watching this video all of the units were close as far as response goes nothing really stood out. The few hundred feet difference is not big enough to make or break any of these units. Thanks for posting this video I've already own an R7 bought from your store and very happy with the price and performance.

I have a V1 Gen2 and I put my suction cups away and designed a magnetic mount for it. Much more stable now... no wobbling from suctions cups. Won't ever fall. Or you can use the sun visor clip mount too.

And that they're illustrates why I've never bought a Valentine radar detector I have other issues but I've always looked and thought how can I not have a Valentine of always have we already tractors for the last like 40 years of driving but my last few and all the ones are on now happen to be escort I know the places where the Valentine might outperform an actual radar but $200 and it still has sucky little tiny suction cups ridiculous My escort Max 360 might be gigantic and super heavy but the Lord knows it's got a big honking suction cup for the windshield only makes sense

The old Whistler Se-2 had one of the best rd mounts. It was a large suction cup that was mounted to a long metal mount that was attached UNDER the detector.

I had one...that WAS a good idea...but the magnet style Escort mounts are the best...

Sticky cup mounts these days is where its at. They have a sticky residue that helps bind it to the windshield. Not as easy to remove, but that's sort of the point

Years ago the lead repair technician said especially the M3 needed to get very warm to test for maximum sensitivity...he said from just plugged in cold to very hot it was a big difference

The underlying sensitivity to Ka band is really terrific, but the detector feels very dated and with little advanced detection capabilities like MR, Gatso, etc. We are way passed X, K, Ka, and laser today and only Uniden really appears committed to staying up with this new speed enforcement technology.

Valentine1 has to add a drop of liquid to the suction cup.

Good video..I think a test like this would have been a good time to test the rear antenna..it would be good to see who has the best rear detection and see how much less it is than the front antenna

How could the R8 and R4 do so poorly. Most of the time they are in the lead.

The distance differences aren’t as large as you may believe relative to the total distance traveled. But it’s possible since both were alerting to K-band there may be conditions that have to be met to let go of the stronger K-band and alert to the weaker Ka. It’s tough to know without how these units are designed.

I literally bought all these detectors and kept 1 which was the R8 with the new update. In my experience the R8 is the top dog!👍🏻 Keep up these great videos!

@@Hugo-py2ce I have an R3, R4, and R8. My biggest complaint long term on those is the display goes bad after a year or so. It goes dark similar to putting it in "Dim or Dimmer" modes. I can't see it during the day whatsoever. I don't want to keep replacing a detector based on failures after a while. I just bought another V1G2 although my complaint their is the alert sounds. It is irritating as I love the Uniden options in regards to sound and automute.
