once you use your raid pass to battle a raid boss, you have unlimited chances to beat it until the timer runs out. if you get there when the boss first hatches you get the full hour.

Nick Rodriguez you can still play without spending money..all u need to do is spin a gym once a day and save raid passes if u dont want to buy them and there are other things to do in the game besides gym raids
@tomaszguzik90187 жыл бұрын
You actually can't save raid passes. You get one free one everyday and until you spend it you won't get more the next day. That's why the premium ones int he shop are "superior". You can at max hold of 1 day (so skip one day, get two shots at raids the next day). That's why it's pretty important to be doing at least 1 raid a day, preferably a tier 4 one but that depends on your area and if there are ppl coming to help.

I know that this is not really relevant to raids and what not, but just need to let people know this. Last night after I left work I decided to take over a nearby gym which contained only one pokemon. As I finished it and went to issue berries to up its motivation that I put in. Then I lost internet connectivity and GPS position which was weird, sitting outside with clear skies. As soon as it came back the gym was taken over by another team, with a full team. Looking around I saw a couple sitting on a bench with what looked like an antenna next to them. As I moved they moved the antenna to keep on me. Confronting them that using a cell blocker/jammer is illegal and potentially dangerous as it could interfere with implants such as pace makers and other ones that are used to regulate body functions, they could care less as long as they make sure no one else stopped them from taking over. Along with threatening me with confronting them. I already submitted their trainer names to Niantic and also other information I managed to gather to the local police as this is a potential threat to people and could prevent someone from using emergency services if there was a problem. I don't know if this something that other people have experienced or if you have seen it. This is not something that should be occurring as it could end up hurting someone.

Hey Nick, what are your thoughts on the new pokécoin collection system? This is quite a long comment, but I hope you take the time to read it. Personally, I really dislike it. I live in a small-ish town with not too much gym turnover, meaning that I tend to hold a gym for at least a day after taking it. That used to be great, as I could manually collect my coins daily. Now, I only get paid once my pokémon get kicked out. As I have everything that will ever spawn in my town (rural imbalance) already in my pokédex, eggs were my only way of getting rare pokémon and their candy. With this new system, it is nearly impossible to scrape together enough pokécoins to buy incubators regularly. If I hold 10 gyms for a week, I won’t get paid anything for seven days. Then someone goes around and kicks me out of every one of those gyms, I will receive 50 coins because of the limit. Previously, I could have collected once per day and received 700 coins over the course of that week. Since most people in my town will go on a gym run once a week instead of taking one or two gyms daily, this is almost always the case for me. This means that I would be better off making a second account and kicking myself out of one gym in my neighbourhood after having reached the daily limit on my main account, rather than going around town taking gyms. Another benefit of this would be that I wouldn’t be kicking other teams out of gyms, thereby keeping them from receiving coins. Don’t get me wrong, I think the update was great, and added a lot more depth to gyms, but the pokécoin collection system is discouraging me from taking them. I’m pretty sure that’s the opposite of what Niantic was trying to do with this update. Essentially, it is once again putting urban players in a better position because they will get kicked out and actually get paid. In order to solve this, I think they need to remove the 50 coin limit per day. Even if they made it a 50 coin limit per gym, that would be better, although far from ideal. Another option would be to re-implement the old coin system, allowing us to collect up to 100 coins daily (manually). A third option I can think of would be to have a separate collect button for each gym (easy to do since gyms are individually tracked anyways with badges), and give us 5 coins (just an example) daily per gym, with a limit of 100 coins daily. There needs to be some sort of incentive for taking multiple gyms. Honestly, this new system seems like a big cash grab on Niantic’s part, and I think they need to change it. Especially as the hype dies down again, more and more players will be in a similar position to mine.

Smaug The Great take this up
@ericp11397 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't like how the coin collection is out of our control. I used to hold 13-15 gyms in the old system. Now, you may as well just patrol the 5 nearest you as you take turns with rival teams knocking each other out just so you can collect.
@MrRoadstar957 жыл бұрын
my opinion is that the system would be great if the daily limit would be something else... like it should count how many days your pokemon defended the gym, lets say 7 days, so you will get 7 days of worth in coins and not just that damn one day limit from defending 7 days gym...

There is a solution, and that solution is talking about the issues the new system has. May not be much, but if they realize many people are upset, they will eventually try to find a fix. Just like what happened when they halved the prestige you would rise by battling at friendly gyms. You know what would really do jack shit for him? being quiet and keeping his butt cheecks wide open for Niantic's non-lubed shlong to have fun. And before you even think about it, no: quitting is not a solution either. Many people have invested hundreds of hours, distance, money on this game. Let them at least express their frustration.
@ericp11397 жыл бұрын
It's not much better in big cities. Everything is so spread out and there are so many raids going on at once that it's rare to get a group, especially when everyone only gets 1 free pass daily. The biggest group I've been a part of is with a married couple when we tried to bring down a Tyrannitar, and the 3 of us didn't even get it down to half HP. Most of the time, I just stick to level 1-2 gyms just for the reward items.

@nightknight-77687 жыл бұрын
Aaron Hutchison I feel like urban players shouldn't really complain. It's not as bad for a suburban player, compared to a rural player. And you get a free pass once a day, all you have to do is be patient and go for the raids that you want. It's not like they force you to buy passes. Premium passes only cost 100 pokécoins, which can be easily earned in the new gym system.

When discussing using Tyranitar against Raid Boss Snorlax you emphasized that its darkness resists Zen Headbutt. Also noteworthy in this regard, Tyranitar's Dark typing also resists Snorlax's other fast move, Lick (Ghost), and his Rock typing resists one of Snorlax's charge move, Hyper Beam (Normal). However Tyranitar takes super effective damage from Snorlax's other two charge moves, Earthquake (Ground) and Heavy Slam (Steel).

It appears that if you loose against a raid boss, you can re-fight that boss without using another raid pass. Today I re-fought the same raid boss 3x just using my raid pass from the day before. After the battle ended I spun the disk and got a new raid pass (since that was my first spin for the day). -- I don't know if this is new/useful to anyone but I appreciate your updates, Nick~ so I wanted to contribute my experience. ^^ Best wishes & thanks for your detailed videos!!

You blew my mind when you said Dante played Rufio. I've been watching your vids (which are fantastic, btw) for almost a year now and have seen Dante a bunch but never made the connection he was THAT Dante! Hook was a big part of my childhood and Rufio was by far the best character. He was also great in But I'm a Cheerleader.

Damn, I just watched the Entourage episode with Fukijama. I knew I'd seen your cousin somewhere other than Hook! And then after IMDB, I realized I'd seen him in LOTS of stuff. Too cool man.

Nick, I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this or not. If you fail to defeat the raid Pokémon you can still try multiple times with the same raid pass(before the raid of that boss ends). This would allow one to change up a battle line up if you fail because of a unanticipated charge move.

you're making me more excited for these raids. I have been out hiking all weekend and I'll be doing my first raid here in the next couple hours.

I'm confused by your endorsement of a donphan that knows tackle. according to your google doc, counter/earthquake does more damage and since neither counter nor tackle are super effective/not very effective against fire, why would you choose tackle over counter?

Could you check if this is true about raids. 1. Within the hour, you can use your raid pass as many times if you fail to defeat the boss or if you want to wait for more people to jump in. 2. What that also means is you don't need to buy a new raid pass. 3. If all your mons faint within the raid, you can heal, or pick a new team and jump back in. Thanks in advance. Tyranitar whooped me today...My Exeggutors could barely get off 1 solar beam.

*Personal input* (offering niche choices in case certain players do not necessarily have access to the "most ideal" recommendations Nick describes in this video) *ARCANINE* Yes, Arcanine can potentially have Wild Charge, but it's only a 1/3 chance. I would not completely discredit the help of a Water Pokemon (especially a WG/HP), especially since you can have 6 total partners anyway. If you can see that the Arcanine is packing Fire Fang and Fire Blast, a Water Pokemon is great tech. *ALAKAZAM* Alakazam's Charge move can be Psychic (Future Sight), Fairy (Dazzling Gleam), or Fighting (Focus Blast), of which the latter two can be SE on Dark. Focus Blast is doubley effective on Tyranitar. Houndoom can get away with not being weak to Fairy on virtue of being part Fire. That said, Dark attacks can be powerful but watch out for those surprises. Bug is a safer option, but outside of Scizor, Pinsir, Scyther, and Parasect, there aren't many strong Bug attackers, much less Pokemon you would want to power up. Also, certain players may not necessarily have a Tyranitar, Scizor, Houndoom, or Pinsir. The ever-common Murkrow should be able to do well as a Dark attacker. To boot, it is not weak to Focus Blast. *MACHAMP* Nick gave good options. Fairy could also be a good attack type, but good Fairy attackers are relatively few. Also beware that Machamp has access to both a Steel quick and charge move. Pidgeot and Fearow work as Flying attackers, but note that they do not resist Fighting due to being part Normal. Bug Pokemon that happen to have Psychic attack (namely Butterfree and Venomoth) work as defensive options as they double resist Fighting. I do not think Raid Machamp can have Stone Edge as that is a Legacy move. *GENGAR* Gengar has the same Ghost/Dark weaknesses as Alakazam, along with a Psychic and Ground weakness. Dark is usually your best bet since it resists Gengar's Shadow Ball charge move and both quick moves. Tyranitar in particular can also resist Gengar's Sludge Bomb charge move. Beware if Gengar's charge move is Focus Blast. You can switch to a Psychic attacker in that case. A strong Ground attacker like Rhydon is pretty phenomenal, and will resist Sludge Bomb to boot. Normal Pokemon also are good as niche attackers for being immune to Ghost attacks if you don't have the above options. Raticate can use Bite and Dig. Persian can use Feint Attack and Foul Play. Furret can use Sucker Punch and Dig. Noctowl can use Extrasensory, Psychic, and Night Shade. Blissey can use Zen Headbutt and Psychic. Tauros can use Zen Headbutt and Earthquake. Kangaskhan can use Mud-Slap, Crunch, and Earthquake. Both of Snorlax's quick moves are SE and it can Earthquake. *VAPOREON* If for whatever reason you lack Grass Pokemon, a Dragonite can resist Water attacks. Lanturn is an Electric attacker that can also resist Water. Kingdra could also be used to attack into Vaporeon. *JOLTEON* Ground Pokemon are the ideal choice. If you cannot fulfill that, Grass Pokemon are resistant to Electric. *FLAREON* Your old Water Gun and Hydro Pump is your best choice. Rock and Ground can work. Dragons can also work. *VENUSAUR* Flying and Fire attackers such as a Pidgeot or Arcanine can claw into Venusaur while resisting Grass. Psychic and Ice work as a glass-cannon types -- potently strong but lacking in survivability. A Xatu, however, can use both Psychic and Flying attacks, and it's pretty common. Barring these, a Poison or Steel Pokemon of your own (especially Skarmory and Crobat) can resist Venusaur's Grass AND Poison attacks. If it really comes down to it, Bug Pokemon resist Grass too. Butterfree and Venomoth have a high resistance to Grass and have a niche place in knowing Psychic attacks (Venomoth also resists Poison). Poison, Steel, and Bug attacks themselves are neutral hits on Venusaur. Dragonite is a good all-around attackers, but especially so when it comes to Venusaur. *CHARIZARD* Definitely aim for Rock Pokemon if you can (especially Omastar or Magcargo). They resist both Fire and Flying attacks. Meanwhile, Rock does the most damage to a Charizard. Barring those, Charizard is still weak to Water and Electric. Water Pokemon resist Charizard's Fire attacks while Electric Pokemon can resist Charizard's Wing Attack quick move. If push comes to shove, Dragonite is a good a option as ever. *BLASTOISE* Same as Vaporeon, but beware the possibility of Ice Beam. Magneton is an Electric attacker that resists Ice Beam. Electric Pokemon in general (especially Lanturn) resist Blastoise's Flash Cannon. *RHYDON* Like Nick said, Grass is a great attacking type here. Venusaur, Exeggutor, and Victreebel all resist Rock Smash quick attack, but only Exeggutor is not weak to Mud-Slap. Likewise, Exeggutor is the only one that resists Earthquake, but beware getting gored by Megahorn. As for Water attackers, Vaporeon is the safest. Other pure Water Pokemon like Blastoise, Octillery, and Kingler can also function. Starmie is bad to Megahorn, Omastar and Lanturn are bad to Earthquake, and Mantine and Gyarados are bad to Stone Edge. Other than that, all Water Pokemon are solid options. If it really comes down to it, Fighting Pokemon work too. *LAPRAS* There is no way to resist all of Lapras' attacks unless you are a Water Pokemon yourself. Fighting and Electric type attacks are definitely the way to go. Rock attacks can work, but Rock and Ground Pokemon are weak to Lapras' Water and Ice attacks, respectively. In addition to Nick's list, I would also suggest Lanturn, Magneton, Omastar, Kabutops, and Corsola. *SNORLAX* Use Fighting if you can, but beware Snorlax's Zen Headbutt. Like Nick said, Dark Pokemon resist both of Snorlax's quick attacks. Tyranitar in particular resists Snorlax's Hyper Beam, but keep in mind it is weak to Snorlax's charge moves Heavy Slam and Earthquake. *TYRANITAR* Like Nick said, Fighting is the ideal attacking type, but Water and Grass also work out (ideally Water). Grass Pokemon should watch out if Tyranitar can use Fire Blast. I actually recommend Ground Pokemon more than Grass. If you are desperate, Bug attackers like Butterfree or Parasect (or if you can, Scyther and Pinsir) also do well against Tyranitar. Steel Pokemon, especially Scizor, are also worth a mention. Bug and Steel Pokemon should beware that aforementioned Fire Blast, and Bug Pokemon especially of Stone Edge.

Nick, it's not the heat on your phone causing the lag. I think it's the new software. Really buggy and laggy during raids. I got dropped out of several raids today, and actually won two while I was OUT of them. I had to crash out of the software and restart, then rejoin the raid. Thanks to awesome teams I was (surprised to see I was) included in the win. Crazy!

Just thought I would throw out these points to further refine the video's Raid Boss checks: Donphan: Higher DPS Moveset - Counter, Earthquake Against Alakazam, I would recommend against Tyranitar and Houndoom because they are weak to Fighting, and Alakazam could have Focus Blast. Scizor, and other Bug types (yes, you can use Butterfree (Struggle Bug, Bug Buzz), Scyther (Fury Cutter, X-Scissor), Parasect (Bug Bite/Fury Cutter, X-Scissor), Pinsir (Bug Bite, X-Scissor), Ledian (Bug Bite, Bug Buzz), and maybe Yanma (Wing Attack, Silver Wind)), would be your best bet. Against Blastoise, Nick mentioned it, but in case it wasn't clear, Magneton will resist Blastoise's Ice Beam and Flash Cannon, which would make it a more viable option, Grass-types will be able to resist only Blastoise's Hydro Pump. If the Blastoise has Water Gun as a Fast attack, then Grass-types may work better, but it's better to just scout out the moveset first before assuming. Maybe lead with a Blissey, then switch accordingly? Keep in mind that this will take a bit of time, and you need to inflict as much damage as possible in order to get extra Premier Balls at the end. Against Lapras, Magneton (Spark, Zap Cannon) can work as a hard check to Lapras (with some combination of Ice type moves). Arcanine's Fire-type options will not be super effective, which Nick did not mention; instead, only Wild Charge will be super effective, albeit you need to be cautious of any Water-type attacks Lapras might have. Against Tyranitar, be wary when using Grass-types because Tyranitar could have Fire Blast. Exeggutor is also weak to Tyranitar's Bite, Crunch options, so be cautious about that also. Just in general with Raids, keep in mind that **your goal is to deal the most damage**. While I did include a few Pokemon that would resist damage, it might be your best bet to consider higher damage output above all else. Using 6 glass cannons (frail, but strong) Pokemon might be optimal, but if you want to limit Revive/Potion consumption, then use bulkier/resisting Pokemon.

Another thing that has to be taken into consideration is the terrible server lag currently associated with raids. Due to that, it's near impossible to effectively dodge many charge attacks, which leads me to bring in higher defensive mons with really good charge moves (like Blissey). I get hit hard so often that my charge bar shoots right up. Now, if I 'am' able to effectively dodge, I prefer having glass cannons for my front end and defensive mons on the back end. As far as Rank 4 raids go, I'd say Machamp is definitely the MVP (considering it's very useful for both Tyranitar and Snorlax)

Today has been a sad day. Missed a Lapras raid by 5 minutes, wasted my free pass on trying to beat a Gengar solo and got my ass handed to me on a Charizard... thought the Charizard would be easy but 4 of us failed over and over again.

Hey Nick idk if you noticed/mentioned this in a previous vid. I know that Pokestops have a ring around them if you haven't spun them since the update launched. The fist time you spin the Pokestop it give you 250xp. 5 times the regular amount for exploring new pokestops. I thought that was a cool little update. Anyway Love your uploads, always look forward to them. Keep husslin'
