Lake Vouliagmeni was above and beyond my expectations, that place is magical and such an easy day trip outside of Athens. And when I tell you that was THE BEST restaurant not just in Athens, Greece but probably in the top three I've ever been to I mean it. Unreal. Hi Vera!!! I was living on the island of Crete in Greece for about 5 months during my time as a FA in the past. Agree with you that Greece has something special. Never been on Athens except in the airport but for the end of this year I will go with my car from Spain to Crete (crossing France, Italy and finally Greece) and I will be in Athens for a while. Vouliagmeni is the hidden gem of Greece and the nicest area in the country! Don’t reveal the secret!

You fit in Athens, take it from a Greek person. Other places are beautiful too but Athens is amazing to live permanently. That is, if you can make a decent income (from 3000+) it becomes a paradise (without becoming “cheap” or “dirty” like other places). Weather in Athens is also beneficial for sleep (meaning if you sleep 4 hours you feel like you slept 8, but if you visit Thessaloniki for example, the second biggest city, it’s the exact opposite due to humidity).
