Great job, Alex! And thank you for making a great sounding instrument. I'm sitting here kicking myself for spending so much money. But I will say, they all sound very nice. It really depends on what type of sound you are looking for. I used to have a suitcase back in the early '80's, and it was always so MUDDY. Thanks again for your work!

Hello Alex, first my hat off to you for putting this amount of work on doing this shoot out!! On the other hand, I believe that, by you comparing each vst, by playing back a MIDI file of a performance, is not fair comparison to some products. Why? Because they may all respond different to that particular MIDI file, some darker, some brighter. I have at least 6 of those vst's, and others not mentioned here, and I play all of them thru a Kawai VPC-1, which is one of the best controllers available, and I have to use different velocity curves to compensate for different response on each of these, as with other products and libraries. So, I invite you to do this experiment yourself, and you'll discover that, most of them can do a better job than they did here… On another note, I like your library and I will buy it, cheers!!

Hi Alex The comparison video is very well done. Your instrument is great. Huge work. I purchased it right now. BTW I repaired myself a real Mark I (1979) It's your born in 1973? Also, you could also put in the comparison list the Fracture Sound Electric key. Curious to read your opinion about it. Thanks for your devotion.

I must say that, while it is certainly not feature-rich - in fact, it is feature-none 😆 - I had this exact same instrument, that I carried around all gigs from 1973 to 1990, and this is the real deal! It sounds exactly like my old Rhodes, and no other iVST that I have even approaches it…

It seems ironic that the Rhodes V8 from Rhodes themselves doesn't sound so good (to my ears). I have been using Keyscape for a long time and I still like it a lot. Your suitcase emulation is also nice, but my favorite (which I never have tried or even heard of) is the VTines.

Interesting variation in the comments here. If there is a best, I thought it would be keyscape. Don’t have that one although I have several of the others. Edit: listening again in a different environment. I liked Steinberg and native instruments and UAD best. I own those. Interesting how I prefer different ones and different environments, shows you that none of them are necessarily the best here.

Were you using a weighted keyboard with Keyscape?

It was 1 midi performance using an unweighted keyboard controller that was then copied and pasted for all instruments. I was having a hard time getting some of the upper samples to trigger with a weighted keyboard and I wanted to show the full dynamic range of all the instruments.

I have the Scarbee and Canterbury but have to admit yours sounds the most like the recording in the first two examples. The Canterbury is disappointing. In order the best sounding is yours, Vtines, then Scarbee. The Vibrant sounds good as well especially in the low end. Keyscape and the official Rhodes are pretty terrible.

The Canterbury and Keyscape don't quite sound right in this video. Both of them have a pretty wide range of possibilities, I think they've just been set incorrectly here.

@@henryhill92 Everything is default setting minus any effects that are added by default for a fair dry comparison. We will do another video comparison with effects.

@@KKJuanjo It is just the dry default sound with no effects. However if there is something wrong with it I would say that I copied and pasted a single live midi performance. If I were to play it on keyscape alone I probably would have played it quieter overall. But throughout all performances I did a variety of very quiet to very loud playing in fact probably exaggerated the dynamics just to show off how each library responds moreso than I would probably have played everything if I was recording these for a studio recording.
