The only thing I love about kastking items are the braided lines. Good abrasion resistance and tough. For the reels good performance but they don't last long. I'll still stick with Reels like Daiwa, Shimano, Penn etc

just bought what I think the perfect set up is and also preached it to my dad. looked online and the first video I see is a neer identical set up. if gone for the medium heavy ugly stick gx2 and a sharky 3 baitfeeder 5000. stuck kastking 30lb braid on it too. I'm a 37 year old Iraq vet and fished all my life, I have multitude of rods for fishing here in Scotland and my oldest favourite of had since I was 17 was a Diawa Vulcan x which broke twice after re attatching a tip guide. thourouly agree with you on your choice, you don't have to spend too much to get the ideal set up

I have a sharky 4k on my 7" daiwa sweepfire. Spooled with 20lb blue camo spiderwire. Landed a lot of fish so far. I live in Hawaii so I hook up on papio (jacks called by mainlanders) oio (bonefish) kakus (barracuda) snappers & triggerfish as well

I have 2 kastking Sharky II fishing reels one 4000 size and one 5000 size. I have them both on Ugly Stik Elite and they have worked fantastic for me for everything from trout to Big snook and Big Red's. I do have a question for anyone out there, I saw one video where a guy said after about a year of using his Sharky to real that the part of the Bell where the line comes over the little roller was starting to corrode and become kind of jagged where it might cut line? Has anyone notice this because I have not yet?

Oh sweet, thanks for the tip! A GX2 would be awesome with the Sharky II 2000! If you plan on using that combo mostly for pier fishing, I would definitely buy it as long as you can (8'0" or longer). Not sure their sizes but the longer the better when it comes to pier and surf fishing. Best of luck to you two and let me know how you do!

congrats on the newborn! one question though. are you capable of catching big reds or even say, kingfish or cobia with that 1500? I've got the same reel and I'd like to test it's limits, but I wasn't planning on targeting any big fish with it until I saw your video. thanks!

No. if you want cobia you'll need at least a 6000-10000 reel, shimano size. A good option would be the spheros

k3nk3n HD go with the 3 or 4 thousand and you should be good for some snook or tarpon

consider yourself fortunate, hate the way Amazon packages rods i've had countless rods show up broken packaged in that flimsy cardboard oppose to either PVC or heavy duty cardboard tubing. Very nice rod though looks very sturdy!!

Yeah man, I ended up catching some sick fish on (the few short times I have been out thanks to a busy life....) and hopefully as things settle down I will make a legit fishing video tearing through some inshore species in the next couple weeks. Hey man i dont now about this. I bought it last july and i took it fishing with my kayak and i splashed it into the ocean water for about 1 sec. Later i rinsed it off with freshwater. Ca. two days later it started to rust, wasnt smooth anymore and made some really annoing noises. I personally dont think this should be a saltwater reel.

Hey bro, after youre supposed to keep the reel in freshwater overnight......then the next day you must open the reel and rinse it again on low water pressure the spray some lubricant like WD40 on it and youre good to do mate!!!

Waterproof seal my azz? If they actually had a waterproof seal there would be a I.P rating . Also guess you never heard of the K king 3 minute immersion test, after three minutes a layer of grease breaks down and the stamped cheap gears begin corroding. Also ask yourself why 90% of those carrying the Kking Sharky ii dropped the price in 1/2 . Penn pursuit ii Combo 59.99 5 stars a no brainer entry level set up

Man kastking. have so many people doing promo's for them featuring the sadly outmoded Sharky reels. The spools are way too small and way to shallow to cast anything any distance that weighs less than an ounce try casting a 5 gram or 10 gram lure on an ultra light lure rod/Sharky combo and your stuffed. The Sharky has a horrible balance on any light lure rod because it's so light it provides absolutely no balance. Flurocote isn't very likely to be an entirely flourocarbon line is it ? which would maybe explain why it's so cheap if you hadn't been so preoccupied with saying blah blah blah all the time maybe you could have covered this in what you laughingly describe as your tutorial.!

The Russian roulette fishing reel. It will catch a few fish then over time the reel breaks down quickly with corroded gears due to the fake water proof claim. Note the cheap stamped gears,weak bail,weak shaft, and flimsey reel handle. You can grab the reel and shake and hear rattles all over the place meaning its not built very solid. Factory recalls K king does not want you to know about. Design wise an attempt to look like a nice reel however its not even that good for a knockoff.

the ugly stick elites are very light. and cheap in comparision to alot of higher end rods and most like alot more durable. for a beginner or someome who doesnt think you need a 200+ or alot more for a setup to catch fish.
