Good honesty. Appreciate the non-hype usage. I am looking for an Ultralight setup. Mostly to balance with my ultralight rods. I feel this might be too heavy, but while i only fish freshwater (currently) i have to worry about superfine sand (i live in AZ) i have had 3 reels fail due to sand intrusion so i am thinking that sealed might be more important than weight....

Really like both the rod and the reel ur2.pl/2314 but I have to be honest and mention that I paired them on different rigs. Haven't hooked a huge one yet; no doubt these pieces could handle it. Separate or as the combo. This set up will make the next trip to some saltwater with me as well.

I’m not gonna say it’s not possible but I def wouldn’t recommend targeting a big species like that. Chances are you are gonna damage your gear and it’s not good for the fish.

I recently purchased the Battle 3 3000 combo from my local bass pro shops and I’m extremely pleased with it so far but I’m still kinda curious on the different sizes of the reels (2000,3000,4000, etc.), I’ve def heard that going bigger or the biggest isn’t always the best but depending on what your fishing for. Do you have any tips or advice or maybe a rule of thumb breakdown for determining what’s the right size reel for you?

all depends on what you are fishing for and how. we do mostly inshore fishing from yaks and boats for fish in the 30" and under range so 3k size work great. for surf fishing i use 6k size and 5k for tarpon fishing.

Sup bro! It’s always good to see you doing well. I’ve got the Battle III, Fierce III, and the Clash II from Penn. Traditionally I’m not a big fan of the Penn. The Battle II is reviewed well from you, but I wouldn’t touch it with your hands. Gears in it are just ... bad. Titling on KZbin are really misleading. Good Saltwater Reel? Best is a far, far stretch and I hope that people watch and do research. The Nasci is cheaper than the Battle III as is the BG in smaller sizes. This reel Is great for many guys as it is a budget reel but the Clash II is a far better reel in terms of Best of the Penn saltwater series. The Clash II is the best spinner in the Penn line up. That means Slammers, Spinfishers etc ... The Clash II is by far the best Penn has to offer.

You got alot of PENN reels man; you have alot of experience and knowledge of these great reels. I just liked the video and subscribed by the way. I can tell I am going to like your channel alot. I have 3 PENN reels right now. I bought 2 in Texas as a rod and reel combo. Those 2 are the PENN Fierce II. One is a PENN Fierce II 4000 with a 7 foot (2 piece collapsable) PENN Fierce II graphite spinning rod with 30lb power pro braid. I took that reel off (the rod is still good and in storage) and put it on my New Ugly Stik GX2 7 foot 1 piece spinning rod. The 2nd PENN Fierce II that I got as a combo; it is the PENN Fierce II 8000 size reel originally I had it spooled up with 300 yards of 80lb braid and that came with the 10 foot (2 piece collapsable spinning rod) PENN Fierce II Graphite spinning rod. I LOVED THIS SETUP… UNTIL THE ROD TIP SNAPPED! I don’t like using Graphite rods (except Ugly Stik’s because they have the flexible fiberglass tips with the strong graphite backbone) to cast from shore with because they always snap at the tip from whipping the lures out there hour after hour day after day week after week month after month. But that PENN Fierce II 8000 size reel is still good and strong, lubricated and greased up and is smooth operating. I took the 80lb power pro braid off, there was alot of line at the end that hadn’t seen the light of day; that was kind of a heart break but I couldn’t cast that 80lb braid as far on my 8 foot (2 piece) Berkley Big Game Power Series spinning rod. So I took all of that 300 yard 80lb power pro braid off and re-spooled the PENN Fierce II 8000 with an even better line that I like… 600 yards (I probably have it filled with about 400 yards) of Suffiix 832 50lb braid. NOW I CAN SMOOTHLY AND EASILY SAIL LURES FAR OUT WITH SMOOTHNESS AND EAS! I LOVE SUFFIX 832! I was a die hard Power Pro and Spiderwire guy, but Suffix 832 is my #1 favorite line now. It is thinner in diameter but holds the same break strength as power pro, it holds its roundness better and for way longer unlike power pro that gets “fluffy” after long hard usage. So yeah I have my PENN Fierce II 8000 size spinning reel spooled up with 600 yards (that’s the size you have to get it in to fill your reel up with about 495 yards for that size reel) of Suffix 832 50lb braid paired up with my trusty Berkley Big Game Power Series Spinning Rod ($25 at Walmart). The rod is fiberglass so it is real wobbly and flexible (more than graphite rods) which is what I prefer because I cast and whip lures far out into the water all day and graphite rods will eventually snap on me at the tip. Which is why for my style of fishing I need fiberglass rods. Except for Ugly Stik, they got it right with their engineering of their fishing rods; fiberglass tip so you don’t snap the tip of your rod on a hard cast and they have the stronger graphite backbone with their Howalding Process. My 3rd PENN reel is the PENN BATTLE III 8000 HS (High Speed) reel. I LOVE ❤ THIS REEL! AND THE BLACK ⚫AND RED 🔴LOOKS SO GOOD ON MY NEW UGLY STIK BIG WATER 8 foot Medium Heavy 2 piece collapsable rod. My Ugly Stik Big Water is in their New vintage color pattern the yellow🟡, black⚫ and red 🔴 I have it spooled up with… another 600 yards (I probably only have 375 yards spooled on the reel) of Suffix 832 80lb braid with a 30 inch #130 fluorocarbon leader. This is primarily my river and ocean setup. But yeah I Love ❤ my PENN reels. Especially that BATTLE III in the High Speed Red 🔴 and Black ⚫ color. I can’t wait to catch monsters on my rod and reel setup with that.
