1/72 or 1/87 is for large scenes. There are way more 1/72 figurines available though. 1/76 is for British only. 1/35 is for small scenes. 1/32 is the result of Americans and British using imperial measurements. 1/24 is for scenes involving more civilian vehicles (which are still lacking in 1/35 scale). 1/16 is for showing detail (and people with bad eyesight). 1/6 is for action figures (Action Man, Barbie, DID, TBleague, etc ...) and people with plans to rebuild their house, or buy a new, larger one. Much larger.
