I love the way some of them have were made and the effort it took to make the scene look so realistic ❤

The Normandy street scene was great, but the U-Boat was superb. Thanks so much for sharing this brief glimpse into what looked a lovely day out.

Thank you, my pleasure. It indeed was a great day out. My channel is all about using retirement time to go out and see what is out there to enjoy. Thanks for watching.

That was a absolute treat, some excellent work on display, ONE of my favourite was the sub at the start.

Thank you. As a veteran submariner, that first clip had to take priority. Just glad I served my time on nuclear propulsion and not the cramped diesel variants as the model portrays.

@@stevestopdaysout837 hi Steve glad to know that you served, I completed my reserve training with the New Zealand Army when I was 18yo as my mum did not want her little boy to join the full-time regular army, I finished my three months and did not do any more, and that is one regret I have held onto for nearly fifty years, so congratulations once again.

Thank you. It was a great day out, bitten by the bug and started model making again as a result. Some more shows coming up so they are in my diary.

If I lived closer l think I would have gone for both days of the show. That way I could have spent much longer with the individual exhibitors to pick their brains. So many useful tips and tricks to also pick up. Maybe go again next year. Thanks for watching.

The problem I have with big dioramas like the Normandie one here, is that they are often too big and lack direction. Now, this is not the worst example (I have seen one with over 20 tanks and assorted vehicles, with some frontline combat at the middle, and just a couple of hundred meters away (in scale), soldiers relax and having dinner), but still, yeah, the size of this makes the action 'diluted' so to speak. It would have been better to split it all up into several smaller dioramas so that it would be easier to read what is going on. I think big dioramas is an ego thing with the builder. like 'hell yeah, I poured in tons of time and money into this' - but your time and money isn't what is interesting, the end result is. Also, dioramas without figures - or any indication that something is happening - is not a diorama, but a vignette, a way to display a model, and frankly, I think that if all you want to do is show a model, a vignette base might actually detract from it. The best examples come from many aircraft builders (like the Harrier here) that simply build the model, open hatches and panels and call it a day - a great way to show the vehicle and the inner workings of it.

If those are according by you the best then you have NEVER seen excellent ones before .🙄🙄 Those are at best , moderate builders and a lot are just bad, the museum get them for free so they do not care . 👎👎👎👎
