Thanks for posting. I've saved literally every silver coin I've gotten in change since 1976, and even bought them from other kids when they didnt know the difference or care to learn. I dont know how many I have, but i do know that it's been at least a decade since I've seen one. It happened all the time up through the 90s and I was a pizza guy and a bartender so a lot of money went through my hands and I collected all the silver back then too. About 2000 the whole thing pretty much dried up

I'm going to be totally honest here I love the 1 gram pieces. Yes they are way overpriced, but I look at it as something separate from my other silver. I started collecting the different designs, and only if the price is reasonable. But it gave me a reasonable hobby that, even though at a poor ratio, does add to the value of my overall silver.

For beginners American modern Silver Eagles are the safest way to buy a full Troy OZ of 99.99 pure Silver . You can usually buy them for $2 to $3 above Silver spot price . If you buy junk 90% Silver at spot price if you actually weigh them its not a good deal because they lose quite a bit of weight from the wear on them . Normally the people selling junk 90% Silver dont account for the weight loss . If you buy junk silver try to get them to weigh them , if they will weigh them you will get a much better deal .

Just stumbled on this vid. Been stacking for decades. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for wearing gloves. I can hardly watch a vid the whole way through when someone is palming a Panda or fingering an Eagle. Tarnish is inevitable, but most of the brain dead public won't consider a coin or round that is black. Shiny draws folks. Tarnish turns them off due to ignorance. If SHF and I need a can of Spam, I'll make better headway with shiny... In case someone is wondering, those gloves in the vid are medical glove liners for the latex gloves. Wore 'em for years. Get them at most med supply stores or swipe a pair on your next ER visit. Well, maybe leave a dime. Not a Mercury!

The reason I stack is in case of SHTF. Why pay extra for silver that is a rare coin? The farmer up the road will not care if a coin is rare if I am bartering for a bushel of corn. He will care is it's .999 pure silver that he can barter for something else. If do not have a SHTF I still own the .999 as an investment.

Zachary Flick it's good to build up your smaller silver. Less than an oz for shtf. You'll find difficulty in bartering if someone can't find change for an ounce. Junk silver fills that gap.

A world where farmers are trading corn for silver and nobody cares about the collectability of a coin? Sounds like armageddon. I'm living in the real world where coins hold a premium and go up along with silver value. 2 markets in one. The coin market. The silver market. Silver could hit the gutter but maybe a coin nut would still want the coin and vice versa.

Very good advice. My EBAY experience since 2005 is that honest dealers of all collectibles is very rare. Most the listing are full of land mines. The listers know the common mistakes made by the buyer. I'm a serial collector and research is number one. Ebay has the biggest group of liars next to lawyers. Most good deals are from people not knowing what they are listing. The rest are just traps waiting for their next victim. Look out for the troy pound scam. A troy ounce is just a little larger than an ounce but a troy pound is 12 troy oz. not 16oz like a pound.

Greg Fridholm You are exactly right! I have been collecting coins since I was 5 years old. And it is so heartbreaking to find out, your, 'treasure', has been ripped-off. I have learned the hard way myself. Unfortunately, not everyone can be trusted. Because, it is so enjoyable to share your collections with others, it seems like sharing is all part of the experience. But, you will find out that the more people that know you have anything of value like that, the more chances of coming home to discover it all missing. And now, if only you hadn't let so many others know in the first place, perhaps this tradgedy could have been avoided. By the time you are 65, you will learn. If you want to keep something. Keep it to yourself!

When I’m bored grab a box of silver and play around with it. . My favourite sound is the long ping of silver . Buy some different weight silver bullets and balance coins and bars on a finger and ping it with different ounce bullets . I listen to the beautiful ring they all make. My favourite ring comes from a 2 ounce bullet smacking a 5 ounce silver town bar. Enjoy your silver because . Life’s too short. Today I received my 2017- 10 ounce Canadian $50 coins. Awesome looking . Costly but very nice. I respect your honesty. Soon all the heavy weight is going to piss you off. Good luck in the future. 👍🏽

This is awesome. I'm a huge gun guy and I recently found someone that made and sold me .9999 silver bullets and it's gotten me very interested in precious metals. I found a monthly subscription business called Investor Crate that sends you random silver/gold depending on what package/level you choose. Other people have tried them out and say they give a pretty fair deal (obviously you are paying slightly more for sightly less, just by the nature of the business) so I ordered their starter pack just as a way to kind of dip my toes in the water. I know I'll be getting less for my money but it'll be nice to start out with a variety of items to get the feel for what I actually want to do. This video helped a lot and will definitely be a useful tool moving forward. I never would have thought about the different kinds of mints and paying more just for the packaging

Your best bet, especially if you’re on a tight budget is to just stick with 90% junk silver. You also want to focus your stack in dimes and quarters with the occasional half dollars. In my opinion, silver dollars aren’t worth it. Everyone knows 10 dimes equals $1.00, 4 quarters equals $1.00 and 2 halves equals $1.00. Smaller coins will be easier to spend and store. Also, in my experience.. I always pay a higher premium for big silver than smaller silver.. even if it’s a beat up common date peace dollar. So, to make your money stretch further and get more silver, stick with old junk silver coins, common dates. Only do bars if you have gobs of money to indulge your hobby/investment. Because there’s more than likely going to be a premium attached to it and that eats up your money. Plus, then if shit does hit the fan.. you have to melt them down into something smaller and that’s extra time you don’t have to waste. So, if you’re like me and just stack to prepare for an economic crash, stick with junk silver coins.

For the most part, I agree. Been stacking long time, Ag/Au. One item I employ is what I call a 'reverse ladder' approach to gold pandas. I buy either the ounces or the fraction, then sit on them for a long time, maybe decade or two or more. Then, when the price goes up collector-wise, I sell say, a 1988, and with the hefty profit, I buy more PM's. For a realtime example that just happened, bought some 1/10 1983 Au Pandas for $65 in '83 or '84. Just unloaded six of them for over $900 each...which was then turned around and over 350 oz Ag were had from SDBullion. Takes time, but don't overlook PM's that are collectible. Bullion rounds will never be 'collectible.' They're cheaper in the short run, however. I realise your post is 8mos old.

Im going for eagles since I like them. I'll pay 2 bucks over spot for 2 main reasons. The coin holds a premium due to it's collectability. And 2. The coin has a federally backed face value as american currency. Which makes it easy to transport.

It boils down to two things: either you're a bullion buyer or a coin collector. If a coin collector you are paying a premium for condition and rarity of type, date and mint mark. If its not legal tender than you're buying collectibles. A bullion buyer, purity .999 being the highest grade. Whichever you become, deal with reputable dealers only. And ask questions until you feel comfortable with your knowledge.

Just depends on what you can sell it for....... There is high premium silver that you can "Flip" for a profit in the secondary market. That is if your goal is to make a profit on every piece you buy. Silver stacking is a very personal thing. Most people have a different strategy. To each his own. Keep on stacking!!

Getting back into stacking lately after years of absence. I've learned a lot about the technical and fundamentals of alt coins and crypto more generally. All of those skills apply everything in applied economics. My old obsession was economic history; since the day I started my stacking odyssey in 2011. I thought there was going to be an inflationary double dip, most of the world experienced several more quarters in negative GDP around 2011-13, so I wasn't so far off. But the easy money policy in the US meant hedging against inflation became a remove concern. However, with a few of the leading indicators of recession coming back..especially inverted bond yields for 2 and 10 year treasuries. We've also had effectively negative interest since 2001/02. First it was 1%, then 0%. Turning it up to 2.5% without a rise in real wages, the suburbs and "flyover country" stagnant in many cases, massive offshoring of profits. Well it's quite a stew. Got myself some Libertads recently and wanted to see 20/20 hindsight where my mistakes were. Fully areed, fractional is a waste of money largely. I tried to have denominations of everything back in the day for fear 1 ozt. might be too valuable to barter with. The 1942-45 War nickles are 1/20 of an ozt as it works out which is cool, otherwise junk silver is the way to go for small change. A few larger bars are okay too, like 10 ozt bars. I live right in the nest of the financial fiat heart of darkness, so hedging against inflation sounds like an insane activity to everyone. Which is fine as much as I care. Once I got into studying business cycles, preparing for the long awaited MS in an affordable econ dept, I started to get the picture why we did not get huge inflation right in 2010-11. Look at Japan and its Lost Generation, many similarities, right down to successive govt. thinking they could get a price bubble reflated whenever ever it sunk...given enough time they majorly failed. The reality is, and I'd like your opinion, it won't be a zombie apocalypse if the USD or GBP or whatever local currency one has starts to show signs of serious inflation. There's time to turn some XAG into into whatever is holding value at the moment, get a plane ticket to a place with better jobs/stability currency and possessing the potential to store the rest as a nest egg to get started somewhere else if need be. Even the classic example of German hyperinflation eventually ended with the return of their uber tight monetary policy. So I foresee myself not liquidating my assets into the local currency but trying to leave them behind safely. It helps that what made me a stacker was graduating with a BA in 2009, the worst time possible, ironically 2nd or 3rd in my class. Economic history was my obsession, but with not so much economic knowledge to advance anywhere so I didn't go take on more damn loans. For the last decade's artificial "bull" market everything has been so fucked that I've been studying the econ intently and finally enjoying mathematics (beyond social science). Anyone who has stacked for like eight years now, and has that kind of abundance of caution to have to retained it, might enjoy what I'm doing now; Forex (Australia starts in 4 hours, Tokyo in 5). And on that note, my god if I thought no one was understanding of silver and contrarian investing back then . . . boy do they really not understand why an academic phd track guy, derailed by reality, is using the econ knowledge to learn to trade and invest rather than just finding the right place to go and be classified for some atomized micro-profession. That doesn't exist anymore. Volatility in currency markets is often a friend. Anyway, liked the video wanted to give some food for thought and hear what you think the future of stacking is, if there is one, and what to do with it if hyperinflation comes etc. Still not buying XAU. Forgive me writing like a fucking essay, linear algebra all day will make anyone lose a few screws.

I've been buying pandas since the 90s and it hasn't let me down since. @delbomb3131

@@marki61422 quite easily, most of them are taken off the open market 🤷‍♀️ as they age even fewer remain on the open market and the number of buyers doesn't really change thus driving the price up. Also dude 10 million of something is a drop in the bucket when talking a global market. I personally know people who buy over a thousand each year. It doesn't take to many of those people to eat up the supply.

I hate to correct you.....but......that is not junk silver. It is CONSTITUTIONAL MONEY. According to the Constitution money must be cast in gold and silver. Those are the last monies made by the United States that was real money. I think its important to spread the word about that because the general public is so ignorant about what money really is. I really enjoyed the video though and its very informative. I just got started on stacking silver but i avoided the common mistakes by understanding our history and what money is before i started lol. Keep up the good work man your doing a great service to humanity as more people begin to wake up.

Junk Silver is how it is sold at spot silver price normally with little or no premiums and its been called this for the last 40 plus years. Constitutional money is what preppers call it and in the Constitution it says "Money should be gold or silver coin" it does not call it Constitutional Money. Sorry to correct you but that just is not true. If you go into any coin shop and ask for Constitutional money they are going to pull out Colonies money and the first of USA coin and not 90% silver from the last 100 years. Again this is what preppers call it.

Interesting to watch. I hope you do not mind me saying, but your Morgan dollars have been cleaned from what I see. They have been harshly washed, however for stacking purposes that fine. I myself do not stack gold or silver, but I fully understand that now gold and silver coins or bars are a good investment. I remember in the 60s and 70s you could not give silver away, it just shows how things have changed. They say now that silver has now become rare, I assume its because they use gold and silver in computers and other electronic devices these days. A great video thanks for showing very interesting.
