Can the best smartphone for video compete with the best mirrorless camera? Huawei P40 Pro vs Olympus EM1 III and GoPro 9. On paper, the Olympus is actually one of the worst cameras of 2020, but it's my favourite. One of the best vlogging cameras, it just lacks customization and features. Can a smartphone be better than a real camera for vlogs?

The Huawie P40 Pro uses Sonys RYYB sensor, instead of traditional RGB, it sacrifices colour correction for better low light performance. Put a small mirror near the lens LOL WTF!

Nice video as always. I can advice you about "pro" things in video mode, check also the Sony Xperia 1 Mark II, for a smartphone there is a lot in the app for video creators. I am with P40 pro plus, and very happy with it, but since i use a camera from Sony I kind of like the company. Next year i think to get the Xperia 1 mark III. There is a pro app for the camera, that allow you to change a lot of settings.

Try more 1080P 960 FPS stuff! Would love to see that since it has better quality than the 7,680 FPS at 720P plus it’s not interpolated like in the 7,680 FPS mode. I think it can do max 1,920 FPS at 720P without interpolation so it’s real frames.

Hey. You should try the Zenfone 7 Pro. It has a flip up camera, beter image quality than P40 Pro and better dynamic range. Had them both and I am blown away by this smartphone. 4K 120fps, flip up camera so I can see myself, 8K video with very good autofocus and stabilization, no Samsung over the top colors and the night mode is almost as good as Huawei.

You can fix a lot of those annoyances with third-party apps like mcpro24fps on Android. Full control over sharpness, noise reduction, bit rate (up to 500mbbs), frame rates, bit-depth (8-bit, or 10-bit), log profiles, e.t.c. You can even shoot full sensor. So much potential.

Great video to watch! I've been interested in getting the Canon 6D mark 11 for a while and after getting the Huawei p40pro smartphone recently I've thought I don't need the Canon dslr now because I've been so impressed with Huawei p40pro so I'm not getting dslr. Huawei are better than Canon and it shows. My first Huawei phone was the excellent p20. P20 was fantastic in extremely low light. P20 was impressive and its still so good. Huawei p50pro will be awesome and dslrs are now dying as smartphone cameras are improving all the time. Huawei p40pro can do professional photography now. Long live Huawei!!!

The phone stabilization is like action-cam stabilization -- the background is rock solid, but you are bobbing around. The camera stabilization is a better compromise between stabilizing you and the background....

Huawei camera are great, I've a Mate 20 pro and my wife has the P40. The super slomo is too still, good old 120 or 240fps still usable. The real problem with any Huawei phone is that there is no Google store support... and not available in the US.

First off, I would like to say that your vids are super interesting and funny. (?) This video brings up some interesting questions. One of the major items a DSLR style camera brings is its grip. Holding a 'phone' is not even the same while not on a selfie sticky thing. But video and photo wise it does bring much to the table. I am wondering if sometime in your very busy shooting schedule you might compare the P40 to the Note 20 Ultra. I think they will be close. I enjoy your content and thank you. Cheerz.

You may have gotten a response on the mic, but just in case, the Deity v.lav might work. There is an incomplete compatibility list in their website and some older models of phones are listed there; no guarantees that the new ones will also work but there’s a chance , and it is a $50 mic (newer iPhones are OK).

You should try the Asus ZenFone 7 Pro, the 3 rear cameras flip up so they can also be used as the front cameras. It has 8k 30 and all kinds of insane specs and one of the best DXO mark scores, for what thats worth. I have a Pixel 5 and wished I would have known about the Asus phone.

You should try using mcpro24fps with your P40 - you will get 10 bit, log profile, histogram, false color, minimum sharpening and noise reduction and of course.. 24fps :) Great app!

You may want to try the Sony Xperia 1ii or 5ii, they both shoot up to 4K60 in 10bit .. although the stabilization is not that good Also, did you try the Insta One R ?! ... you could use the 1inch sensor for regular vlog and then switch to the 360 camera for crossing the street.

I'm not keen on using phones for video. They usually have variable frame rate. Same with cheap action cameras. Hard to edit, and doesn't look right anyway. If this has constant frame rate then maybe.

That's nothing what actually a P40 Pro can do. Go with the McPro24fps app and you unleash hardcore cinematography stuff, like 24 FPS recording, Log footage and HLG color profiles etc. With good skills, you can make the phone almost unrecognizable to a fully fledged cam. The only difference is that the actual cameras have higher dynamic range and thus they can represent the colors better. Many of them give you the option to record in RAW, but I think phones are not very far from that. We should expect that in next generations the phone cameras will have much better dynamic range and full-frame sensors. The lens that are offered for phones these days are also amazing, which will be improved as well. I give it 2 generations of phones when we can actually start making less difference on everyday screens between cameras and phones.
