On the update/correction front for the Pro 3 Ultra, you stated it was all plastic but it actually has a metal bezel. Also you stated all but the Fossil had silicone bands. Got the Watch4 Classic LTE in Black. Most people struggle to recognise that it's a device at all and I like how I have a very well built smart device which syncs well and works well with my phone(S20) but also flies right under the radar. true! certain smartwatches tend to get outdated super fast within 2 to 3 years. so choose wisely, if charging daily is not your cup of tea , you will eventually hate your new flashy smartwatch in a matter of months. smart watches that require daily or every alternate day charging will make one feels like they have two devices , i.e. the phone and smart watch that need constant attention to ensure they dont end up running out of juice. better invest in a watch with battery lasting for at least 5 days or even longer to save you from the battery anxiety.

I've had my TicWatch Pro 3 since about February, I don't have to consciously take time out to charge it. No matter what watch I get I'm not taking it in the bath or shower, soap and hot water, just don't like the idea of it. So as a result I put the TicWatch on charge for 10 minutes each morning when I shower or 20-30 mins on the weekend if I have a bath, as a result I don't have to take it off purely to charge it, it just gets done when I would naturally take my watch off anyway. The above might sound a bit odd of a justification or mentality, I guess my point is, I doubt the other watches in this line up would be able to do this to anywhere near the same degree.
@Eric_D_63 жыл бұрын
I'm leaning towards the TicWatch at this point, the battery is the biggest issue with my current, ancient smartwatch and I do sometimes go off the grid for a week at a time where it would be nice to still have some tracking and the time. I think I'll wait a few days to see if the rumors about the pixel watch coming out are true or not then probably end up ordering the TicWatch if it either doesn't get announced or isn't as appealing to me.

It's crazy how much fitness accuracy changes from all the YTubers who review this watch. These reviews can be good, but without getting the actual watch you'll never know how accurate they are to you. That is an option and wish reviewers would talk about it.

I just did a bunch of research on this myself (including a bunch of your videos!) after pestering one of my friends repeatedly about her Apple Watch, and I more or less landed where you did. I was initially more drawn to the fossil 6 because of its appearance and advertised rapid-charging. But saw the disadvantages of no OS3 and a higher price tag (very high in Canada). Once I looked into it more, I saw that the galaxy watches have a better price point in Canada (unless I get LTE and top-end everything), have OS3, and there are a number of third-party accessories available that make it just about as fashionable as the fossil. Moreover, I already have a galaxy phone and tablet, so my current "ecosystem" is pretty compatible with a galaxy watch. I did look into Ticwatches, but it seemed like the worst of all worlds for me - no OS3, not as compatible with my current devices, and not as fashionable. But yes, cheaper price and better battery life! I haven't bought mine yet (just got back from travelling and need to bring the credit card down a bit...), but I also landed on the Active, as you suggested at the very end, without the hard bezel. Partially because it's cheaper, partially because I like the rose-gold and that doesn't seem to be available with a hard bezel, and partially because I have a tiny girlish wrist and don't want to end up with a giant watch on it. My goal is to fool my mother into thinking it's a regular analog watch before I show her all the bells and whistles. I debated about springing for LTE (I like the idea of calling and texting from my wrist like a Star Trek character), but honestly, I'm rarely far from my phone, so Bluetooth for those functions is probably fine. I do intend to set up Google pay to pay from my wrist, which seems convenient (this was one of the things that perked my interest in my friend's apple watch). Finally, for anyone who's read this far, I wanted to point out two features on the galaxy watch in particular that I'm drawn to: the "kidnapping" alert and the "hard fall" alert. The former allows you to press the buttons in a specific sequence to send your location to 911. The latter will activate if you have, well, a hard fall. If you don't dismiss the alert it will then send your location to 911. As a lady who often hikes and takes solo trips, as well as dates online, those two features will likely help me to feel much safer.

I Have the Tic Watch Pro 3 GPS, had this for around 6 months. Great Watch. I wanted to try the Samsung Watch 4 Classic LTE. I got it today. My first impression is that the battery life is seriously lacking. The 1st day I had it, it didn't even last a whole day, whereas with the Tic Watch I never worry about battery life. Since I have my TWP3GPS set up and I get all the notifications correctly, and on the SW4CLTE it's not really set up at all, I'm still liking the TWP3GPS. I think I'm going to return the SW4CLTE. I'm not digging it and the battery life sucks. I may buy the Tic Watch 3 Pro Ultra. It has a couple of things I like that aren't on the TW3PGPS. It has the colored essential mode, which has got to be better than the black essential mode on the TW3PGPS. It also has a compass, and it's got that standard MIL-STD-810G which means it's more durable than my TW3PGPS. The only thing I really wanted was having the LTE, but its not available on the TW3PGPS or the Tic Watch Ultra.

Hi Mike, I realize this video is several months old but very well done, and an excellent review of each of these brands and models. Of course, Ticwatch has the Ultra version out now, essentially the same as the original Pro GPS but uses the 4100 co-processor for the second display, saving battery. I came here to learn more about Fossil Gen 6; I admit I'm interested, but I've decided no more watches until Google and the watch manufacturers are clear on their upgrade paths to Wear OS 3. Until then, the Ticwatch is working well for me. Yes, their apps are wonky and Wear OS 2 Voice to Text is broken, but the rest of Google Assistant works for the most part. This is a huge issue for me as it's one of the primary reasons I have a smartwatch. 2) The fanciest sensors like the ECG requires a Samsung phone Given those issues I tried the Fossil Gen6. I love the look of the device and the 3-button functionality, but the battery life was absolutely awful. Even after a week I didn't even get a full day of use without it running very low on battery, and I didn't even use GPS or anything super crazy. Price is not too high but you get lighter watch with biggest screen area. Its 44,5 mm screen actually without bezels same size as 46 mm with bezels.. Far as I understoid they are eventually all actually same size 40 mm is actually exactly same size as 42 mm, only the bezels make the difference there too.

A question for anyone who reads this comment. I am struggling to decide between the TWP3 Ultra and the Galaxy Watch 4. I see that most reviewers do not talk in depth of the lack of features of the GW4 on non-samsung devices. I do not own a Samsung phone, hence I wanted the TWP3 Ultra, but support from Mobvoi is what worries me (I have read some horror stories on Reddit and comments sections) just in case that something happens with my watch. Just to point it out, I do not really need the BP and ECG features since I own a BP monitor at home. I just want an overall, well-rounded, smartwatch that will last a few years. To summarize, do you think that the GW4 is still worth on non-samsung devices (Considering everything that I mentioned before)? UPDATE: I ended up buying the GW4, I own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, works pretty much excellent, I have nothing to complain about. I usually charge my watch after waking up, and doing my morning daily routine before going out, that easily gets me through the day and night for sleep tracking. ECG and BP are the only two big features missing (and don't really need), fall detection is another one that is missing, but I have never tried to configure it. Overall, I am really satisfied with my purchase. Do I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY!

I ended up going for a hybrid watch based on Mike's review of the Garmin Vivomove range. Hybrids are great because you get the analytics of a smart watch, but the design of a classic watch. Battery life is much better as well, I get 4 days+ out of my Garmin Vivomove Luxe.

I chose the samsung watch 4 over the classic as its the same spec, lighter (but still strong enough), has stronger glass than the classic and £100 cheaper. No brainer in my eyes. The stainless steal is a pointless advantage for me. I do like the fact that the rotating dial on the classic makes it look like full screen but its just too bulky and heavy in comparison.
@eliteiel97473 жыл бұрын
Ye i agree with you. I mean the classic is like 52 or 56 grams, and the normal one is 30 grams. Thats a huge difference, and for me, I am in the gym a lot, a less bulkier and lighter watch makes all the sense in the world. But I guess it is personal preference in the end.

My two biggest questions are always battery life and waterproofing. The concern I have is that the Ticwatch apparently can't be worn in the shower??? What's up with that. I get that soap is their concern, but if I have to be careful when washing my hands I am giving up that security. Have you had any concerns about this?

Using it in the shower has less to do with water and more to do with steam. Steam can affect the sealant used to make it waterproof. I don't know the details but I've heard that's the logic behind it.

Love the review. I’m stuck between galaxy watch 4 classic and the new garmin epix. The best part is the epix works with iOS and android. If you have the garmin connect app on both devices, you can disconnect Bluetooth on one phone and just connect sync the data with the other phone. What are your thoughts on the garmin vs the Samsung

Great comparison, Mike! Have had GW4 (44mm) Silver, Bluetooth version now for 45+ days. Added a Ringke Silver Bezel, so it protects the screen, makes digital bezel easier to use, & looks closer to an analog watch. & swapped the band for 3rd party Amazon ones. Minor glitches, but fixed by updates. Overall, works great (with my S21U) & I'm enjoying it a lot!

I ordered a bunch of different 20mm straps for my GW4 classic and 22mm ones for my Tic Watch Pro 3. I also got a few bezels for the GW4. Buy the bezel for the GW3 as they fit on the GW4. They are cheaper and are the same. Oh and did you forget to put the link for the leather strap for the GW4 ? I looked and didn't see it. I like how yours widens at the end like the stock rubber ones

Wonder if the choice of not supporting Wear OS 3 on QC 3100 watches is technical or to push new hardware? I mean Wear OS could use some wider audiance to really gain traction as a competitor to A Watch. Not supporting not really that old watches could push people out of smart watches or towards Apple. Sure tech fans will rush out buy QC 4100 watches or the Samsung but that means that there's an older watch to give to someone not really thought of a smart watch but if that is left behind - it'll just end up getting recycled (or worse).
@debbiepretorius58233 жыл бұрын
I think smart watches that are not so old should get the new update. I think it is wrong to sell these smart watches to people if you know very well it is not going to get the update in the future. People should complain about that.
@HifiCentret3 жыл бұрын
@CGGS_Gaming And you didn't even glance at the basic specs. Take a watch like Fossil Carlyle HR which is not really that old and still being sold. It has the exact same amount of RAM and storage as all of the TicWatches that are rumored to get the Wear OS 3 update.

I wish we could get the samsung hardware (health sensors, rotating bezel, wireless charging, and overall build) with more battery and the second screen... without it being a Samsung in any way (restrictions on use for features and stupid skins over OS3). So frustrating having options that are SO close, but just not there.

True of phones too. Samsung makes the best hardware, but you have to deal with their constant tug of war with Google.

@@shrimpgordita eh, they have a TON of thermal issues. At least, they used to. But, point taken. There doesn't seem to be anyone that produces a good Android phone that is snappy, has a color accurate screen, a decent camera, an external (not under the screen) finger print scanner, and a decent battery life. Oh, and being stable would be good too.

The Skagen Falster 6 is the Fossil gen 6 in a different aesthetic, too, so it probably also belongs in this comparo (as an alternative variant of the Fossil, with the same strengths and weaknesses). I wish Fossil had made the stainless actually clear polished stainless, not this gray variation. The smaller one can be had polished, but with an 18 mm band which I don't like as much.

I waited too long for a android watch so I eventually settled for the tic Watch pro 3. I regret it a little bit because now I want that Samsung with android mixed with Tizon.. is it worth switching if I'm a Samsung ecosystem?
@micahjohnson91843 жыл бұрын
Well you do get the all the features of the TicWatch Pro 3. I have one myself I love it although I have a pixel 4a 5g and the compatibility is quite nice with stock Android. I've actually had the Galaxy watch 4 on pre order and tried it for a bit but gave it to my mom for compatibility reasons. So If you want compatibly with Samsung ecosystem, and want Tizen mixed with Wear OS. I would definitely consider the Galaxy watch 4. It's very seemless most of the apps are already on your Samsung device. I had to download everything when I was on my pixel. But when I gave it to mom, with her S21 it was practically automatic sync, no issues at all.

I have watched a couple of your reviews and it amazes me how you talk about everything else in depth and either do not mention battery life or gloss over it. Especially when it comes to the Galaxy watch 4. I am considering buying that watch and have listened to a couple of your reviews and you do not spend any time (or much time) on the battery life. Please when you review these watches spend more time on battery usage and how often charges are needed. As that is a critical factor in everyday use.

Just got the Galaxy watch 4 classic. It's the first watch to tick all of the boxes for what I wanted before upgrading from my huawei watch 1. -Wireless charging being the hugest due to having to replace the back due to contacts deteriorating. -The screens for the past few years have done that thing where they get a double bezel from the black ring around the screen and then the actual bezel of the watch. I can't stand the look of it and it makes the screen so tiny. -and lastly the ring on the bezel is a nice plus. I've literally just charged my watch and installed my fav face, still trying to get notifications fully working but I'm very happy with my upgrade from my 6yr old watch so far. (metal band coming tomorrow)

Important inaccuracies. All three brands have third market suppliers. Software, accessories, prices, varieties, etc are much better than any OEM. Bands and watch protectors can be changed, according to use, clothing and appearance. Personally I prefer plastic cases, for low weight, better radio use, etc.. My Galaxy Watch 4 gives 50 hours, because of night mode, and indoor lifestyle. Outdoor use, with LTE, will naturally shorten battery life.

FYI ,ticwatch plastic material doesnt matter much. to me the glass and bezel material are more important aspect of durablity as both are the stand out parts of watch that most likely to take the hit from bumping on hard surfaces such as cement wall or corner of table, take for example, my garmin fenix 6 has sapphire crystal , stainless steel bezel and quality plastic casing and it has lasted almost 3 years without any visible scratch. plastic is lighter than stainless steel , so much more comfortable on wrist and as a sports tracking.

I was lucky enough to buy the ticwatch 3 ultra for 195 euros a couple of days ago. I had the 3 pro but it stopped charging after 2 years. I've had a lot of smart watches throughout the years and the battery life was the deal-breaker for me since I don't want to charge my watch every single day. It's enough already doing that with my phone
