FYI: If you upgrade your two stage blower impeller with a IMPELLER KIT, you'll have a non-clogging machine which will also throw the snow greater distances.
@craigr.5941Ай бұрын
My personal "best," & "worst" : My all-time best performing and most reliable was my very first, a no-frills mid-1970's Ariens 24" Sno-Thro with Tecumseh "Snow King" engine, used/maintained myself for 26 years, until I sold it in 1994 to go to a (bigger) 8 hp. 28" John Deere machine (made by Ariens) which was a failure. Why did it fail? Here in the mid-Atlantic (eastern PA) region, our snow tends to be moist, vs. powdery. Here, the bigger bucket and bigger serrated augers are of no advantage if the discharge impeller and impeller housing are too small (12" in this case).The impeller gets overloaded because it can't move out what is being shoved into its throat fast enough. It would be a different story in a typically colder region where typical snowfalls are powdery. (Curiously, the comparable but more expensive 8 hp. 28" Ariens-branded machine had a 14" discharge impeller.) I replaced it after several years of struggling and disappointment, with what promised to be the best snowblower ever made, yet turned out to be even WORSE performing : a 26" Cub Cadet "3X". At least the John Deere could creep along in 1st. gear with 8 - 10" of medium-heavy snow. The 3X Cub Cadet came to a stand-still , hopelessly plugged from the front "propeller" auger through the discharge impeller housing. This innovative design was most likely tested and evaluated in a colder climate state, with powder-like snow, NOT the eastern USA mid-Atlantic region. I sold the C.Cadet after several very frustrating years, cautioning the buyer to always pre-treat the bucket, augers & discharge path with a Teflon-based slick spray, which helped somewhat. As of 2021 after intensive searching & research, I now have TWO machines..... one big slugger for the BIG snows (a Simplicity Signature Series 1728,) and one "little-guy" for the more common 3"-8" "nuisance" snows, a Toro 7-24 QXE (an amazing, unique machine.) So far, I've only used the Simplicity once, completely successful, and the more frequently-used Toro is performing as well as the old 70's vintage Ariens, which is saying a lot. .

While Yardmax, Craftsman and Powersmart might fit the budget for some, they are not better than Ariens, Toro or Honda. The video did not mention pricing as a factor. Not sure how the Honda and Toro could possibly be ranked at the bottom. 🥴

So a Craftsman 24 inch snowblower is better than the Ariens Deluxe 24? SMDH
@worry2much Жыл бұрын
CC stands for cubic centimeters. The majority of these snow blowers are under powered if you live in a heavy snow area. Where I live in MA anyrhing under 8 hp is useless. To get horse power divide engine size by 29. My experience with track drive wasn't that great the snow blower wanted to go over thing like snow bank rather than thru.

I had a Power Smart brand 24 inch, 2-stage snowblower and it was not only cheaply made and ill-fitting plastic parts especially the chute which was poor fitting and hard to rotate because the teeth would not align properly. Also poorly designed for draining the dirty oil as the drain plug is directly behind the cables. In addition, the handlebars are positioned straight instead of angled like most other snowblower which puts strain on your back as you use it. The only positive is that it cost less than most 2-stage snowblowers because it is made in communist China. If you are looking to purchase one to save a little money, don't, you will regret it.

I'll take an Ariens or my 35 year old Toro blower over any of those newer machines. Too much plastic and thin metal in the newer machines. They may have more user friendly features, but they're cheap and more to wear out in the long run.

@mwm200810 ай бұрын
I hate to inform you, but this is incorrect. The only items sourced by Ariens in the build of their products are erhe plastic panels along the handles. EVERYTHINGZ ELSE is sourced domestically. Additionally, if you were to tour their assembly factory in Wisconsin, you'd literally see their WIP kits with shadow boards of all the components that go into the build of a unit. It's 97% USA Made and the major critical components are 100% USA Made

I don’t want to be negative, but this video is inane. Chuty?? Not much useful info. Most anything said about one unit could be said about the others, which is almost all sales pitches and very little comparison info. Craftsman should be towards the middle or bottom of the list, Honda should be at the top. Powersmart is made in china, which isn’t bad in and of itself necessarily. It does throw snow far, but the controls are all backwards. etc.
