My last couple of helmets had/have a flip down sun visor, it's a deal breaker for me with this helmet not having one. Since I wear prescription glasses the "flip down shades" are a must.

Thanks for the review! I've done a couple of videos on my research and initial reaction to this helmet. Unfortunately, I only used it once and didn't get a chance to experiment with the vents. It was a very cold day, and I assumed there'd be warmer days. I found the helmet fairly loud, with all the vents wide open, but not as cold as I was expecting. Microphone clarity was very good. I didn't test the speakers. The helmet is light and that's a plus. Sizing is a little weird, but part of that might be due to the air bladders. Overall, the jury remains out for me. It's an expensive helmet, and I agree about the sun shield and peak being absent.

Could you comment on fogging please. Does the helmet fog? Is it warm or cold? What about people that wear glasses... fogging?

Thanks man! This was from late Dec in Quebec. Conditions are even better now. Here is a link to the playlist on the videos we did in the area - kzbin.info/aero/PLEH3MPCFdYE4VBmPFEAqCu5yiVkphXleR

I found the helmet to be okay. Kinda cold and as others have stated taking the helmet on/off is a bear pinching the heck out of my ears. I’m probably going to sell it. I like my CKX mission limited way better.

Does it have a neck curtain like the oxygen?

No it doesn't.

You didn’t mention how you can NOT open the shield unless you have two powerful hands on the helmet… so u can’t just crack it for some air or open it one handed. I also couldn’t get the helmet off without ripping my ears off everytime! And no visor is lame. Returned it right away.
@stanliterman248 ай бұрын
I have no problem opening/closing them with two fingers. It might not fit everyone but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad helmet. Mine has been awesome for me!

Hit the gym bro. I have both the commander in snow and street and it opens easily. The opening of the helmet is smaller due to the fact that it is ece 22.06 approved unlike any other snow helmet in the market.

Fits small, damn near rip my ears off taking it off. Looks cool tho

Haha exactly! Gave it right back after my ears broke off. And I have small ears…

$900.00??? Isn't it getting a little crazy for a helmet. I know it's 'packed' with features but no drop down visor and $900.00.....HARD NO!
@sledaddicz8 ай бұрын
When you consider the fact that it has a $450 communicator pre installed in it, the price becomes extremely reasonable.
@dominator54988 ай бұрын
@@sledaddicz I appreciate your review but I’ll stick with my Mission and occasionally my Oxygen.
@jessebuchman67448 ай бұрын
@dominator5498 those are both great helmets. The reason I said what I said is because the advex is basically the same price as the 509 without a comm system. The advex plus the integrated comm system is $1700 CAD.

Has anyone ever taken any snowmobile helmet in the store and squeezed it where the helmet would protect your cheeks? They are all completely flimsy. Every single brand out there is utterly garbage! Take an Arai motocross helmet and try to do that. I promise you it wont flex. It seems like every snowmobile helmet is designed for "comfort" and not enough technology in protection. I have only been able to actually find one snowmobile helmet that is actually SNELL rated, and judging by the price of it, I don't know how they got the qualification. Its sad to think that we spend more money on clothing than what a true quality helmet would cost.
@stanliterman248 ай бұрын
This helmet passes the ECE 22.06 certification. Most snow helmets are DOT only.
@oshsco8 ай бұрын
@@stanliterman24 if I’m not mistaken, isn’t the ECE the Europeans version of our DOT testing?
@stanliterman248 ай бұрын
@@oshsco no, the tests required to pass each certification are different. I used to think SNELL was the best and only used Shoei helmets. Now that I understand ECE 22.06 I would definitely purchase one of these.
@stanliterman248 ай бұрын
There are a lot of politics with this so you should do your own research but this video is a quick explanation of both snell and ECE. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWfcpmRoac5meNEsi=8ndcF7v8Oj9Sr3mc hopefully this helps you understand why some helmets are softer than others. Some are junk and some are designed to be that way.

@@stanliterman24 wow! Great video, has me even more confused on what a quality helmet should have for standards! Thank you for insight.
