Great reaction, I'm English and one thing I am immensely proud of is our musicians. I could sit and write every one from Beatles to the Rollings stones and thousands of others and now I class Ren as up there he has is own lane and in that lane he has introduced us to Chinchilla, Liv Sangster, Viktus and his own band The Big Push. He is a genius lyricist. I've had builders all week at my home and I played some of Rens tracks and everyone of those builders are now fans.

I agree with you, it seems like a Hi Ren conversation. I find this one is also fun to just listen to, without having to look. Like all the changes. Love the “praise my selfish ways, I’ve lost my faith, I’ve lost my faith” chorus. It has stuck with me ever since I first heard it. I also loved it when, in his twitch session linked with this drop, he picked up his new Martin and ad libbed. Ren, giving us a little session right in our room! Yo!

SICK BOI has come full circle ⭕️ is how I see this one. I think it is his most ambitious musically and it really moves from one musical genre and style to another almost seamlessly. So many layers to this production. It’s like a table laid out with a feast you have been invited to. By the final course you are past replete. A creator creating his art with every piece on this album related, relative and relatable. I’m not making much sense. I reckon you’ve gotta listen to the whole without interruption and earphones on to gauge the fullness. I dunno really lol I’m interested to know how you feel about it after a few solitary listens. I’ve had a Ren day today starting right back at the beginning and it’s been a helluva journey. Time to ‘down the tools and go for smoko’ in Oz speak. I think the last bit of the track is a sample but I don't know enough about beats and samples etc. Loads of us have mentioned James Bond theme vibes - wouldn't THAT be good. Hey Mike, I don't know if you heard Ren busking on the streets but he hits those high notes with no problems in his live street performances so I know he pitched his voice because he wanted that sound in the particular area of the song and didn't do it because he couldn't nail it on point. Man's world/earned it sticks out for his hitting his high notes.

Blind Eyed is the highest note I’ve heard him hit…I know he can hit a high F#….not sure what note this was but I’m sure he could sing that pitch….it wouldn’t sound like that though. It was a production decision that sounded cool considering I don’t usually like auto tune. :)

@@michaelgoyettemusic Right, the only reason I mentioned is because Chris Liepe the voice guy said after listening to it, said it sounded like Ren wanted that pitch to distort his voice in that way to fit the song but it wasn't a full auto tune but a distortion. He said from the songs he heard Ren sing live those notes would be no issues for Ren to reach, so it was done with the purpose to distort. "Swan song", Ren sings in a complete high head voice for most of the song. It is an acappella trio with Romain and Gorran. Anyways thanks for getting back to me.

His hip hop persona Vs his lyrical introvert...A human story we can all relate to, even if we haven't walked Rens path. The darkness and the light, the uncertainty while still retaining humanity. Pain and coping mechanisms broken down... that's what I get from it anyhoo 😎👍🏻 I love his honesty and self depreciation, wise enough to know all his flaws, and still turn them into positives for everyone to learn from.

Ren actually was talking about using ‘Logic’ for his production but he also said when he first started really getting into music when he was 13 his intention wasn’t to become an artist but to become a producer.

Which, I feel compelled to offer in advance of anyone being defensive in the comments section, is fine by me! No WAY does an artist go through an entire career NEVER writing something that wasn't "my thing" - it doesn't topple Ren from his spot as my favourite artist (and clearly I'll still watch my favourite KZbinrs react to it, although I won't be hunting down every single reaction out there or anything). Edit: I do quite enjoy the chorus vocals on this one, just not enough to become an earworm for me (versus Murderer, which is still running on loop in my brain most days, or Power or Chalk Outlines or Sick Boi).

Yo. To my very untrained ears, the drumbeat at the hook reminds me of the first half of the S song. As an aside, I listen without headphones and your mic is a bit quiet sometimes and more difficult to hear in comparison to the song. But that may be just my own hearing level.
