Mysore Pak was actually originated in Mysore. There is a short story behind that, Maharaja KrishnaRaja Wodeyar, craves for some sweet and he orders his cook to prepare some. He prepares this delicacy with only besan, sugar and ghee. He names this dish as Mysore Paka (paka meaning semisolid sugar syrup which melts in the mouth)

Dada , on Matunga west side tgere is a small old restaurant called Ulhas Dugdhalaya , it is in existance many yrs back 1980 or even before Aaswad Hotel. It is located near Raja Badhe Chowk , just before Maasoli Hotel , next to Cheda & oposoite Footpath of SRL Phadke Pathology Lab. This Restaurant has dedicated Chokhadal Marathi khavayye clientale aanu yanche Kande Pohe Jagaat Bhari category madhye yetaat so also all other dishes. Ine of the early hotels who started Piyush in Mumbai. Now its Run by Mrs.Vrinda Wife of its late owner Ulhas. Do cover them.

While I agree that every bride has a sari fron Nalli, the Nalli in Matunga is not the branch of the famous Nalli at Panagal Park, Chennai. The Panagal Park Nalli has three branches in Mumbai, one on Bhulabhai Desai Rd in South Mumbai, one in Oberoi Mall, Goregaon East, and one in Thane. This is just for ur information.

I used to attend classes in Matunga. I remember eating in Ram Ashray and Mani's. I loved noodles dosa from Stall in front of Nalli's saree center. Idli/Wada/Dosa with one full glass filter coffee! I have enjoyed a lot. Next time you can try Maharashtrian food at Dadar (Misal pav and batata vada from Mama Kane/Panshikar/Prakash/Tambe uphar gruh/Aswad, Modak ice cream from Aswad, or platter from Aswad).

Most of the South Indian food in Mumbai is from the Tulunadu region (Udupi- Mangalore belt). Please try specialities of that region. I think Maharashtrians would relate to that food more.

मी 2015 मधे मुंबई ला नोकरी ला होतो.. माटुंगा ला class ला यायचो.. तेव्हा चेन्नई मधे आल्याचा feel यायचा आणि South Indian items तर quality मिळते माटुंगा मधे.. इडली, मेदु वडा, सगळेच quality.. एकदम nostalgia वाटले आज हा video पाहून... 8 वर्ष झाली.. परत कधी योग आला तर नक्की जाणार माटुंगा ला. पुण्यात राहणारा एक सातारकर 😅
