The Best Distress Squirrel Call Audio!!! Many of you have asked for just the audio so here it is!!! The call is most effective in the summer and Fall when there are young squirrels around. Adults will respond thinking a young squirrel has been caught by a predator or it is lost and calling for the adults. Use this call to bring in squirrels close if you like to watch them and also for hunters where it is legal to use electronic calls.

This is incredible. I was out hunting with my pops and we had no luck for over 3 hours. We decide to sit down at a nice spot and still nothing for 15 minutes. As a last ditch effort I decide to look up squirrel calls and I found this. Within 5 seconds a squirrel immediately popped out from some brush about 6 feet away and stared right at me. I was the last thing he saw.

Oh yea, used this sound to get hank out of my roof, my squirrel neighbor. He’s built a nest up in the rafters.. I put this on, he started skittering all over. I feel terrible & should’ve read the description first. I didn’t realize this is audio of a baby squirrel caught by a predator. I was trying to call “my” backyard squirrels down for peanuts instead of clucking my tongue. When I played this, one squirrel immediately bolted, clearly panicked, running faster than I’ve EVER seen a squirrel run. She ran from branch to branch, then leapt across a distance of at least 10 ft from a limb onto our roof (~30 feet high). Not what I wanted to do to her although I’ll remember this video should a squirrel ever get trapped somewhere.

Yes, this is a distress call. Most of the time it will bring in adult squirrels. Sometimes though it will send juvenile squirrels running.

First step when you find a baby squirrel should always be Do nothing but to try return to mom to begin with-unless obviously injured or found by a cat: then seek vet or rehabber immediately as cat saliva is toxic for squirrels which requires antibiotics and any obvious injuries will require evaluation and treatment by a qualified professional Place baby in plastic container with air flow holes with a fleece (cardboard dehydrates and bedding needs to be anything but terry cloth/towel material to prevent claw catching or breakage or injured digits) and with a sock filled with microwaved dried rice or beans (reheated and well mixed for hotspots every 2 hours) to keep baby warm because mom will not recollect a cold baby then you will need to Play KZbin video (LIKE THIS ONE) of baby calling mom while keeping an eye out for predators or males that may harm baby Bring in at nightfall and try again at dawn for at least 24-36 hours If the baby is obviously dehydrated already and you have some small animal experience you can get 0.5 mL/cc Oring syringe from any pharmacy (usually by simply asking or explaining situation) and try to give the baby warm (101-110 degree) plain pedialyte but please literally only single drops at a time because getting liquid in it’s lungs will kill it via pneumonia (the most dangerous thing that happens to them after find is incorrect feeding). Also their bathroom functions must be stimulated by rubbing with warm wet surface (like cotton ball) at every feeding-ideally trying before and after each feeding to express any waste that you can. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE ANY NUTS OR SEEDS!!! anything but the specific formula it needs can be incredibly harmful (including fatal) Should be feeding fox valley day one 2050 formula to squirrels over four weeks old… And a homemade formula for under 4 weeks… some use fox valley 3240 but many have experienced stomach issues so, like me, do not recommend it Esbalic is a temporary solution and has 34% crude protein (1 and 1/2 times the 20% squirrels need) and is much too low in fat for a healthy squirrel whom is safeguarded against MBD as it grows and then goes through puberty and breeding over the first year of life… and esbilac has been specifically called out twice for causing squirrels problems in three years… Please don’t feed squirrels puppy milk long term: unfortunately because the lack of correct calcium to phosphorus ratio in puppy milk you release them and then they develop terrible health problems months later from the poor diet Captive squirrels require a specific diet to be healthy in the long term Order fox valley day one 2050 for squirrels over four weeks old and mix in a 2 parts water to one part formula solution that you allow to rest for at least 4 hours before feeding and discard 24 hours after making Only reheat portion you need for single feeding and discard any formula that has been heated even if it’s unused Store formula in refrigerator for 24 hours or freeze and thaw as need if prefer large batches (usually ice cube trays best for portioning) Using a Miracle nipple with a 1 or 3 mL o ring syringe is the only widespread acceptable feeding method but baby must be fully hydrated (usually 24 hours via pedialyte) and warm in order to be fed… the only acceptable feeding positions are upright or with squirrels on tummy and holding miracle nipple paw areas if old enough Without experience the baby will be aspirated and die of pneumonia so get training from a wildlife vet or rehabber before ever considering feeding a baby squirrel… your help is fatal no matter how good intentioned it is if you don’t put in the effort to get the help to do it right… While waiting on fox valley make homemade formula 6 tbs goat milk (fresh fully rehydrated) 6 tbs plain flavored Greek probiotic yogurt (full fat) 4tbs heavy cream, 1 egg yolk Formula need to set up for 4-8 hours before using and be discarded daily (if not frozen in individual or daily portions-usually people do this using an ice tray) Begin by getting 0.5, 1.0 and 3.0 cc or mL syringe (ideally oring) From any local pharmacy -generally they will get them out if you explain what they’re doing-start with only giving Pedialyte plain flavored for the first 24 hours drop by drop until you get used to feeding…feeding schedule is determined by age and starts at every 2-3 hours and slowly becomes more distant between each feeding as they age If it comes out of their nose then you are aspirating them and they will likely get pneumonia… if That happens to you then you’ll need to seek out antibiotics from vet or rehabber and someone to help teach you feeding techniques Baby should be kept in a plastic container with fleece and a heating pad set to low under half of a tub with air holes (cardboard dehydrates and materials like terry cloth cause claws to and even fingers to break So badly that the squirrel can lose them) and left in that plastic with heat source until fully furred before moving to short cage to begin learning how to climb. Continue formula until squirrel self weans around 20 weeks but offer squirrel or rodent blocks from when squirrel opens eyes until it’s eating at least 2 per day before introducing any vegetables. Do not introduce any fruit until eating 2-3 blocks and 7-10 thumb sized (or one inch) pieces of high calcium vegetables and even then only at 1-2 pieces per day and after around 12-16 weeks old. Nuts are not recommended at all prior to 16-20 weeks and even then should be a rare treat considering nuts are only available annually in the wild and their high phosphorus content is fatal to squirrels if given in excess…

I used this to find a baby squirrel. The baby squirrel was hungry (ik because it keeps eating our strawberries) I found it in a bush not moving it looked scared so i picked it up and gave it water and strawberries then i let him sleep under a tree in our backyard so it was in shadows i looked for its mom but didnt find it i think it was dead so thats why the baby was alone i looked for an hour with the distress call but nothing then i went in to the sauna and when i came back the squirrel had passed away it propably was because it couldnt get milk from its mom (this all happened in a day)😢

I live in the UK where American greys are wiping out our indigenous red squirrels. We still have some reds left where I live and I'm in the local red squirrel conservation group. I'm keen too try this out to see if it works. I hope so, as we need all the help we can get to stop our reds becoming extinct. I'll let you know what happens.

In the UK our native red is only half the weight of the American Grey, so they don't stand a chance and get driven out of the woods to starve. The greys also carry a virus which kills our reds in under 14 days, while they are immune.

Most hunters here prefer the grey over the reds because of the size for the table so when there are too many reds, we don't like it. Used this for the first time while squirrel hunting with a .22 rifle. Figured "why the heck not?" UNBELIEVABLE RESULT ! Ok, I've tried this twice in two separate little woods. Nothing happened the first time, but I'm only getting one grey on the feeder with my trail camera and it's rarely there, so it probably wasn't around. The volume of the sound track isn't that loud either. In the second bit of wood I'd already had a grey at the feeder and shot it. A second, younger grey appeared but didn't sit still and then vanished. I gave it ten minutes, but it didn't show so I gave the call another go. Within 20 seconds I heard a rustle behind me and a small grey appeared running along a branch in my direction. I was sat in full camo including a camo head cover. It got to within three feet of me and stared at me, very agitated and squeaking. It was totally confused! It ran to the trunk and then out on another branch to look at me from a different angle. It was very agitated. Unfortunately, it was far too close to shoot. I use a .22 air rifle set at a 25 yard zero and I wouldn't point and shoot and risk just wounding it. In summary: 1. An immediate and frantic response from a grey in hearing range of my phone. 2. It was a young one, so it's not just adults that respond. 3. Perfect if you're using a shot gun, not sure how I'll get it to help me with my head shot sniper tactic off feeders. 4. The sound level is low, so taking a small speaker that plugs in to your phone would help. 5. The advert sound level is high, so when they kick in they cause a disturbance. Ages ago I downloaded two Apps and I've had no response to any of the calls in those Apps. This morning's response was so frantic it was amusing.

That’s awesome! Yes, they will come right up to you if given the chance. You have to keep a lookout and take a shot while they are still coming in because if you aren’t paying attention, they will be right on you before you know it!

It’s not working for me and I literally have a village of them. By that I mean one family but the younger ones have gone over to the neighbors tree and they do all come over to eat the great snacks I put out for then. Also peanuts.

Yeah this call is meant to call them in from a distance. If they are already in sight or close to you they usually get startled. Tame squirrels that are fed don’t respond as well also.
