Very informative, but I think you made a mistake for the thrall best armor choice, the voidforge dragon ribs is better the the redeemed legion pauldron (same damage bonus but better armor value)

You are absolutely right! My bad! Also forgot to add the silent legion heavy armor, even tho it wouldn't have made any difference. I'm trying to improve as I started just a month ago.

I made a set of armor based on the changes mentioned in the comments (using Voidforged Dragon Ribs instead of Redeemed Legion Pauldrons). I made that set but alternated between Silent Legion Medium Gauntlets and Godbreaker Grips. They were made with a T4 Shieldsmith and each piece had Bulk Plating applied for an additional 25 points of armor. Here's the results: Full set with GodBreaker Grips: 1722 Armor, 31% additional STR damage, 87.3% Damage Reduction. Full set with Redeemed Silent L: 1627 Armor, 34% additional STR damage, 86.7% Dama Reduction. Thralls have additional inherent armor that is added to the total, increasing as they gain more grit when leveling. As the total amor value for the thrall increases, the amount of damage reduction slows down further, making for only small percentage increases. Small differences in percentage of damage reduction do make for larger differences in percentage of damage received. The percentage difference of damage reduction between 87.3 and 86.7 is only .6%, but you receive about 5% more damage from the smaller value of armor than you do from the larger one. While additional 31% STR damage and 34% is roughly 10%, it's actually smaller overall once all stats are added in, making it more subjective than you'd think as to if it's better to have that extra bit of armor or extra bit of STR damage.

@@ExiledTales Thanks! I had already made a spreadsheet to calculate damage reduction. I used to have one that calculated how much armor you got from Agility, but they changed it so you get it from Grit now, and the formula is hard to figure out. One thrall with 15 Grit has 120 innate armor, another with 15 Grit has 150 innate armor. There must be some other modifier inherent in the faction or race of the thrall.

@@bobcarn The wiki says this: Grit "determines the size of your stamina pool and has a direct effect on armor". +3 stamina per point. +8 armor per point And then you have the perks Maybe it will help you modify the spreadsheet 😁

@@bobcarn Have you considered adding the Wolfmen vault helmet (Aspect of the Wolf)? It doesn't show the direct +str value, but if you inspect the thrall (a lvl0 CimBer, with the inherent 15 Str point) - you go from +45% str bonus to a +52% str bonus. It also has more armor (437 with Shieldwright vs 316, with bulked plates). I also saw that they changed the phrasing from +x% Str Dmg Bonus to +x [value] Str Bonus - not sure if that has any impact as well. Overall, I used to run the following: Aspect of the Wolf Voidforged Dragon Ribs Silent Legion Med. Gauntlets Black Knight Tasset Frost Giant's Boots I tried modifying the build with some parts shown here - the Perfect Heavy Boots, Champion's Leggings & Godbreaker Gauntlets, but that resulted only in a gain of Dmg Reduction of 3% (from 76% at 1588 AV to 78% at 1843 AV - tested on the player character without any pts in grit)

Yes, the Dragonbone Ribs is better, it was a misstake, I usualy use Redeemed Legion and while I had the info under my nose, because of the habit, I put the Redeemed chest there. But the Perfected Heavy boots are better then the Warchief Pictish boots. Also if you want more str weapon dmg use the Silent legion medium gloves instead of the Godbreaker grips ... while less armor, will give +3% more str weapon dmg. I will try to do better and pay more attention in the future!

@@ExiledTales +8% str = %8 strength weapon damage not str :D I started playing a week ago this information about thrall armor and their recipes took some time for me to gather , so for new players i tried to make clearer what items are best for increasing damage strenght weapon using thralls. I be able to beat arena champion with 2 thralls 1 has momentum 1 has tenderizer using , 19 corrupted authority and i shoot the legs of arena champion with bow using snake arrows. Note Before farming these armors i used Guardian Armor full set for thralls. (5x 5 %25 str weapon damage but also nearly 1k armor less )

@@ExiledTales I am not playing Expension cause i still need to farm Arena Champion safetly and be able to kill Rockslide. Currently i am running with 20 expertise for carrying stuff when i finish the armors i will change it to 20 Grit for max %25 damage recive perk. With Glutton for punishment, 19 authority and vitality i think i can tank both Arena Champion and Rockslide with my Cannibal Brute Thralls in full armor, if it doesnt work i will try zombie glitch and creat a cannibal brute zombie horde and test that too. I am still looking for a good weapon, with %50 corrupt will have really low stamina so spamming light attacks to stun lock Arena Champion is not an reliable option. But i really like the corruption bonuses like immunity to bleed poison desies etc. After I finish those test I would start playing expension :D

as others have pointed already out, that the void forged chest armor is better, but I also want to mention, that armor has a diminishing return attached to it, meaning that anything above 1500 armor is severely reduced in terms of dmg reduction. So instead of getting even the last single digit armor value, just get the cheapest one.

outdated info my man , frost gaint boots give 8% str dmg and aspect of the wolf helm gives +15% on one piece , why woul du not mention these, also medium silent legion is best for gloves because u already hit diminishing returns on the armour values snd they give +8% str alone

😄 it's an option and you can build there, it's not admin stuff on official servers you find elevators there too! I like to say it's a convenience thing more then lazy, you don't get corrupted and it takes roughly 1 min. Yes you can also cast slow fall then when you get out you can summon the bat 😁. This is why I like the game, you have multiple options for the same thing! Cheers!

It's allowed from the game to build there unless they changed that in the last patches. I didn't play in Exiled Lands from my last playthrough. (Edit) I don't like to cheat, use mods or exploit game braking bugs/glitches

I usualy do wear the Pictish Warchief stuff and with the redeemed legion also the perfected stuff just because is cheaper. But I have timestamps so if anyone wants to skip the rambling, can watch just the good stuff or what he/she wants!
