My 10 year old uses that choke allot 3:45 .... He trains 3 -4 times a week in JiuJitsu... Also the omoplata at 10:06 is his favorite move to use... Hence why he loves to pull guard.

It’s not really about cutting off the breathing way more important is cutting blood flow to the brain. That’s why most of these work. Not about suffocating your opponent but more restricted blood flow to the brain

7:17 there are many ways to get out of a choke but when you’re fighting you get fatigued and blows to head make it harder to think quick on your feet. Most rear naked chokes are actually a little hard to use because of the gloves they get in the way

The submission from 2:15 is called a Von Flue choke. From top side control, you trap the opponent’s cross-side arm in a position as if they had you in a guillotine. The guillotine does not choke you from that angle, but it pushes the opponent’s shoulder into their neck. Then, you drop your shoulder into the other side of their neck so that the blood flow is cut off on both sides. I love this submission. You should definitely do BJJ. It’s a lot of fun. But, whatever you do, don’t try a guillotine from bottom side control or they’ll hit you with this lol.

1:47. Calf slicer. It's not attacking the knee. It's compressing the calf muscle. 2:13. That is a Von Flue choke, named for Jason Von Flue. 99/100 when you see it, it's because someone has no idea what they are doing and either put their hand in that position for no reason, or because they hold onto a guillotine when their guard is passed. But Ovince St. Preux is the only person I've ever seen that has actively baited someone into a position where he can catch the arm and THEN make the position. You're basically pinning their shoulder to their own neck, then dropping all your weight onto their neck with your other shoulder. He's an absolute master at it, he appears 3 times in this video with it and I believe he's hit a 4th. 4:30. Double armbar. Again. Amateur, because you aren't making the right angle attacking both like this. Although I never noticed Otsuka squeezing his thighs together before. So because Bourke has a bowling ball for a head, a stock pot for a neck and leg of lamb for arms, you wouldn't need the traditional angle because he can't really respond and move like most. So not as bad as I thought for all those years. 7:32. Banana split. Pulls the groin muscles in different directions. 7:45. Pillory choke. This is either a bail out on a defended triangle choke, or most often when your leg is trapped in their half guard. You throw a leg over the head to create an attach point. Same arm is threaded underneath, with the hand grabbing your own instep/shin, with your opponents neck in the crook of your elbow. Connect your hands, straighten your leg, squeeze.
