So does that excuse anything that American and British slave owners did? I mean there was a demand from them for slaves and were the main beneficiaries for slavery. They also sold slaves to each other. Who captained and manned the ships of slaves into the US? Americans did. Nothing funny about slavery yet you want to make a joke about it and try to rewrite history to make the people who benefitted from it in the US not seem like they're bad people despite the way they treated, tortured and murdered slaves. The fact you said 'mate', you're either from UK, Australia or New Zealand. You should know their role in the slave trade too.

That's also how the constantly warring Japanese samurai did, they sold a lot of Japanese slaves to buy muskets to kill each other better. Date Masamune and Uesugi Kenshin were like the top 2 samurai lord slave traders of their time. No wonder samurais were hated in feudal Japan, and peasants would hunt them for bounties to sell to rival lords. When 4 Japanese boys converted to Catholicism and followed a Portuguese missionary to Rome to meet the Pope (They are called "the Tensho Embassy"), they recounted that in every port they stopped in (Southeast Asia, India, afterwards they went straight to Eastern Africa and to Europe), they were furious at Japanese for selling their own "cheaper than livestock" that they saw Japanese slaves among the black ones, and said they do not fault the Portuguese for making a profit buying Japanese cheap and reselling them abroad. When Japan's biggest warlord at the time, Toyotomi, trying to make up for wartime expenditure of his failing invasion of Korea, kidnapped 1000s of Koreans technicians, scholars, and forced them to culturize Japan for him _(For instance, the famous potter today, the 15th-generation Chin Jukan, which is Shim Sugwan read in Japanese, still observes Korean ceremonies to this day. Pottery before them in Japan, due to constant wars and killings and high taxation for samurai's wars, culture and sciences were quite behind. You can see like the Kizaemon Ido, which were Korean peasant bowls stolen by Japanese pirates, were deemed a (now national) treasure)._ Those who did not have such skill were sold to Portuguese slavers, but it is interesting to note that by this time, Portuguese missionaries in Japan actually threatened to excommunicate Toyotomi for selling of slaves. (He also chopped noses and ears off and crucified Spaniards of the San Felipe after stealing their treasure, going against his previous ruling that anyone who lands in Japan are not to be harmed, upon hearing their treasure was tantamount to 1/3 of his annual income, much needed in 1596 at the height of the failing invasion of Korea) When that failed they in 1609 would invade Okinawa (Kingdom of Ryukyu), the East Asian Singapore before Singapore, and pretty much enslave them in all but name, imposing 90% tax rates, even higher than the 60-80% tax rates in Japan proper, halving what little peasants are already allowed to have. (Compare 20% to 10%). Karate was developed as the natives' way to kill the samurai oppressors with farming tools, because samurai confiscated all swords and spears from them. Threshing flails became nunchucks, grindstone handles became tonfas, etc. Although the term was coined in the 1800s, already in the 1500s Japanese pimps trafficked "Karayuki-san (means "Miss Gone-Abroad")" Japanese sex slaves all over Southeast Asia and by the 20th century, even to some ports in Australia. 500,000 of them were estimated to have been sold in the 45 years of the late 19th century - early 20th century Meiji Era alone, the greatest place of sale was in the southwestern ports of Japan on Kyushu, numbering 300,000 of total sales. The 1974 film, "Sandakan Number 8" recounts a tale of a WW2 sex slave in one such Japanese-run overseas brothels, based on the interviews Tomoko Yamazaki had with one such woman, in her non-fiction 1973 book "The 8th House of Japanese Prostitutes in the South Sea." This is also a big reason there are "Japanese cemeteries" in Singapore and some other parts in Southeast Asia. Her fate was a lot lot better than the (underage) military sex slaves Japan kidnapped for maximum rape efficiency though. According to Molemans, 500,000 foreign girls were kidnapped/scammed since 1920s to serve in military sex slave pens to "boost morale." Before an offensive girls had to take on 80 to 90 daily rape quotas. Soldiers like Shigeru Mizuki testified he was disgusted how his fellow soldiers violated women so much that the women had to queef up balls of semen into a makeshift outhouse out in the jungles. Most were slaughtered and dumped in the jungles for the animals, or by the end of the war, to hide war crimes. Women like Jan Ruff O'Herne in the 90s came over her PTSD and told people of this only to be called "racist white grandma" by Japanese and Japanese-Australians. This isn't counting ppl who were raped and killed right away without the slavery part. Like Vivian Bullwinkel who was the sole survivor of a unit of Australian Nurses, but told to shut up by the Australian government because they wanted to suck up to Japan and unlike the profusely apologetic Germany, Japan actually is on full on revisionist mode. One of many reasons why 1 Billion Asians cheered for the American nukes liberating them from Japan killing 30 million in WW2 alone (2 of that in Vietnam, 25 of that was Capitalist China alone... Japan allied with the Chinese Communist Party to squeeze them from both sides by 1945. It's why Mao for decades thanked Fascist Japan for saving him and his communists from the brink of death by capitalists. Note, even the liberal counting of European deaths in WW2 are 20 million) (well that's not the real reason Japan surrendered ONLY to America and not USSR... they even scheduled to extend anthrax germ bombing cities in Asia to America by September of 1945 just to buy time to finish 2 Japanese nukes. Even Hitler, being a veteran of WW1, repeatedly said Germans must never use gas and germ bombs in battle, not even for defense. A country that sends 5 digits of people to suicide bomb vehicles on land air and sea for their one true living god emperor hirohito to go to Zen Buddhist Paradise (read "Zen at War") doesn't care about lives, even Nagasaki mayors Hitoshi Motoshima and Iccho Itoh got shot in their hearts for saying "It's Japan's fault my city got nuked." and the surviving one, Motoshima, said "Japan should stop using my city to play victim") 2 of 3 million Japanese soldiers committed cannibalism by the way. Stuff about this doesn't get talked about due to the race card. (Look up Yoshio Kodaira, how he recounts how him and the NAVY boys loved going around coastal towns in Capitalist China and raping girls and cutting open pregnant women and extracting fetuses... as early as 1921. The Army was even worse) Not 10 days after surrender the Japanese government installed the "Recreation and Amusement Association" and got Japanese women to service American troops for money, and also to hide their war crimes behind their girls once again. Just like the killing of the soldiers of the USS Panay in 1937 to test American military response.

Meh, raiding parties existed. They just didn't happen as often cause it was easier and less dangerous to buy prisoners than to go out and net people up. I really don't get why so many people are mad they didn't show that particular sequence of events.

Yeah I know, it ruined the otherwise totally accurate depiction of the slaves escaping from the hulls of the ship to play a prank on the ship's captain and then have a happy summer vacation
