The amount of spin is just amazing, the only thing it's missing is changing its position thus shooting from different angles and distances, maybe heights also. But overall, great machine.

Are you talking about the deflector plate that moves the balls right to left and up and down? If yes, you might have a cable problem or a broken gear. The fix is relatively easy, so please contact your Butterfly dealer.

Personally, a trainer or partner would be the best, but thats just my opinion as Im not a certified anything, just a not-too-bad district player with several winnings only. This is because I think that robots just arent that up to par with a human. With a partner or trainer, you are required to read their hand movements and overtime, you develop a sensory image I guess even before an opponent hits the ball and you already know where it should go and the amount of spin. The robot doesnt help with this. Also, the trainers or partners might realise any mistakes while you are doing the stroke and correct you there and then. I went to clubs where they just set up these machines and the coaches come to look once in a while. They certainly are not helping the players who want to train.

It safe money in long term to help with basic movement or fixing mistakes. Like if you spot mistakes in your footwork over some combination. Won’t ever come close to human, it’s not in anyway best tools to help you grow. There’s some scenario especially for amateurs where you need to improve mechanics, for example new ball does not require you to hit backspin ball high or drop your swing low like in the past so you can put more horizontal movement (Yan An talks about this, you know the professional Chinese 1st team, while amateurs kept talking you need to lift the ball etc as if they know better)

@attilamalek6763
@attilamalek6763 7 жыл бұрын
There are many inexpensive robots on the market. They have a simple operating system that can perform one type of a spin at a time, and the amount of spin they generate is very small. Of course not everyone needs nor can afford a complex machine that can produce many different combinations that includes no spin, under spin, side spin and topspin combinations with different amount of spin. And naturally this type of machines cost more than the simple ones.

Using machines in training is debatable. On the one hand it allows the athlete to respond as they would during a match scenario (Action fidelity). However, there is low functionality; this relates to the information constraints. For example, you are responding to a machine/stimuli and not an actual athlete, therefore there is no opportunity to read bodily cues for instance.
@attilamalek6763
@attilamalek6763 6 жыл бұрын
You're 100% correct, it's debatable. The machine has many useful purpose and it's only one of the many tools needed to develop high level athletes. We definitely have great success in teaching the professional techniques with the use of the ball machine.
@jakobtamas5885
@jakobtamas5885 6 жыл бұрын
Attila Malek the machines are highly sophisticated and allow the athletes to practice an array of skills in relation with others (Random Practice) and also allow athletes to have multiple repetitions of the same skill (Blocked Practice). “Random Practice” has been shown to improve retention but is detrimental for acquisition. However, the athletes in these videos are that of expert so this training mode is appropriate. However, “Blocked Practice” (practicing/repeating the same skill) enhances acquisition but is detrimental for an athlete’s retention. Blocked practice would greatly benefit a novice, it links into the elaboration hypothesis, allows athletes to refine movements and self-correct (schema). However, in the real world, these machines are expensive. I personally am more inclined to use athletes and not machines, I feel that enhances the ecological design of the training. I also like to instal flair into my athletes, I do this by encouraging “deliberate play” and encouraging the practice of “transferable skills”. for example my sport is volleyball but as a warm up I might get my athletes to play a quick game of basketball, or badminton over the volleyball net. The striking motion is the same in volleyball and badminton, and volleyball and basketball trains vertical jump and makes players less static. Of course if the machines work for you, sure they are, then keep going and good luck!

Google me, but before you do I could tell that I not expert in table tennis still I expert in other sport fields. And nothing would beat good old partner no matter what sport we talking about. If you say no :) I might know why. Same I say Nike instead of other brands. Promotion is great.
@attilamalek6763
@attilamalek6763 6 жыл бұрын
My credentials are: USATT Certified National coach. USATT Hall of Fame Inductee, Former U.S. National Men's Singles Champion, winner of hundreds of tournaments and you may also Google me. Yes, these are promotional videos, but as I pointed out in my previous responses high level table tennis has many components and ball machine training is only one of the many. Can you become a high level player without a ball machine? In certain countries and in few places in the U.S. it's possible assuming you're in a training program 4-6 hours/day. The majority of U.S. players don't have that opportunity, and don't have a dedicated training partner either for that many hours, so again ball machine training is an excellent option. By the way my daughter who is a high level player has me as a training partner, she also plays at the local club and use her ball machine daily.
@Effectivebasketball
@Effectivebasketball 6 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think that you overthinking my above 2 cents. I never stated that machine your promoting bad in any settings. I simply stated that I consider and not just me that human partner would be best option regardless how good this machine are. (I would make a simple example in your field. Say 2 6 years old have an idea to play table tennis and both starting at the same time. One getting coach and partner who knows techniques know how to play know fundamentals and always positive encouraging, still never giving up if certain elements not been polished. Second asking parents to buy him that very nice machine to practice home having. Both of them spent same amount of time over 1 year one with machine one only with coach/partner). would you like to make a bet ? Which one going to be better ? You asking question about could you become any good without machines ? Yes and yes again and again - that horrible question your asking and you surely know it all along many worlds champions and variety of sports got there without any advance machines help. 20 years ago no one even know that machines exists. Again please do not take it wrong way, I all in for new more advance practice, with use of quite complicated machines. In my field we use one technology every practice individual it become even more important ( video ) , second there is new tracking software developed all the time that giving wide range of details about team and individuals, we have basketball shooting machines and I could say for shooting along they might be better then normal partner. Measuring arc, speed, passing and counting preserving pace. Normal partner could not do that. Even not every coach could be aware of all that metrics. So yes we should use new technology as much as it possible, but to say there is no other way ....... there is always other way. Partner always have something that machines would never give, you know what I mean...
@attilamalek6763
@attilamalek6763 6 жыл бұрын
In your example you're 100% correct, but that's not the argument. You said " How about get a partner way better option" Now, we might be talking about two different things. I'm saying that high level table tennis requires a lot more than a coach, a training partner, and a ball machine. It's not one or the other, it's multiple components. So, your statement that a partner is a way better option it's simply wrong, because without the other necessary components neither the partner nor the ball machine can get you to high level.

Let me think. So, it's the same machine, same manufacturer, but we offer a much better warranty, better and immediate customer service, and we have 100% customer satisfaction and the Amicus is better. How do you figure?

Never say never, and why do they have to beat China? Ball machines are not designed for the single purpose of beating China. They're simply one of the many tools players can use to get better.

We do have many good Chinese and European coaches in the U.S. and the number of full time training centers increased tremendously in the last 20 years and our Men's National Team is not even close to the performance of the U.S. National Team of the 80's with the Bogans and Seemillers. They were in the first division and they did not have Chinese coaches, yet they beat the best Chinese in the world. Now, I do agree that we need good coaches, but we need a lot more than that and I already listed what we need in my previous responses.
