gotta disagree maybe for multiple enemies it is but for bosses ive found the best tank is something with personal grudge like king joker lol for me gem slimes main usefulness is as a scouting bot a team full of them with wisdom booster 2 3 and 4 makes getting s/x rank monsters so much easier in mole hole lol

Used to be the best monster in the OG games. Insanly tanky. Strong spells and also got access to heals.

Yeah, got nerfed a bit though, since Metal Body ups the MP cost of spells as a side effect. You'll need to devote one of its talent slots for a high level MP or Wisdom Boost talent if you want a Metal Slime King as your healer.

OR use MP cost by half reduction as its 3rd talent but for the Gem slimes I'd rather give it that skill that makes ALL AOE attacks hit it NOT just the Breath skills + Auto Regen at least 50 HP a turn + the 2x Str boosting spell though that spell is single target it will make a lv 100 Uber killing machine even more broken.

Thank you for the info! Any chance you could make a guide about Mole Hole itself? I have a hard time finding the Metal Slime in there, and in general, a hard time scouting any monsters there (whether or not I have in roster at the time)

I put Altruist and two Wisdom on mine. Wanted to go for Altruist+Guard Sp but you can only find it through egg monsters and it's such a pain to farm them

For any learn the 1 skill that FORCES all AOE attacks to Hit the Gem Slime/Metal King user and as long as THEY get hit by a AOE skill/spell only to have it do 0 to 1 point in damage you really won't need to use any HP restore spells/skills at all.

Once it learns Selflessness to have all attacks hit it the only thing it needs is HP regen skills or at least Regen at least 50 + HP EVERY turn and it can't really die.

for a 3rd talent tree I recommend either the Boom line of spells or the spell that doubles your attack power so that the Gem Slime can double a lv 100 Uber killing Machines Str if its not at 999 Str already.

Place where you can scout any monster that you’ve had on your team. Once you synthesize a monster you can go scout it there instead of synthesizing it all over again. Sadly its dlc ($10)

I actually prefer the Metal King Slime as the best tank in game IF their still immune to ALL attack spells BUT if you can fight Gem Slimes NORMALLY and NOT via the Mole Hole DLC their also the BEST Gold farming monsters in game.

Yeah, they still do. But from what I remember, Gem Slime still has all the same immunities as their more silvery counterparts. It's just that Gem Slime is significantly much harder to synthesize, hence its status as a bragging rights monster.

@@yakumaemelyne7443 Still feels weird that that sorta thing kinda works. I always figured that you had to use regular attacks (or Hatchet Man) because nothing else would work on Metal Skin. Maybe I'm misremembering if Metal Slime immunities differ between the main series and the Monsters spinoff...

They do normally in the main games the metal slimes are immune to ALL attack magic and the Sleep spell really only works on the weakest ones so on the 3DS remake of DQ7 you either need critical hit or miss skills or 600+ Str to be able to KILL the Metal King ones in 1 hit 550+ Str to do MORE then 1 damage. DQ3 requires Puff IE Bedragon to kill them since they have 4000+ defense so not even 999 Str will do more then 1 damage to those IF at all if you lack that spell since its a Black Mage/Sage lv 38 one then the only way to kill them outside of Critical hits is using those Poison Dagger weapons the ones that always do 1 damage to the Metal slimes and never miss. But for the monsters games the medal slimes are still immune to most spells UNLESS you have a Trait/talent that gets rid of its damage immunity so the only way Kaboom will NOT do 0 damage to the Metal King Slimes in this monsters game is if you have a trait that gets rid of the immunity sure WITHOUT the Immunity the final boom spell only hits the Metal King ones for 50 HP by they only have like 20 max HP to begin with. The Platinum Jewel Slimes have 200 HP but I don't think those exist in this Monsters game at all.

Yes, but it takes some setup. Spells cost double for metal slimes. Easiest fix is giving it MP Booster IV. That'll give you around six casts of a ka-zle spell. Best setup I've found so far is adding in Anti-Magic Avoider to that. The final ability in that talent gives you an MP regen that seems to give around 10% of your max MP back. The downside is you get zero Ultra Crafty traits so it's useless against other metals.

@@Eichsterd123 haven't checked exact numbers of the same rank but in the wild i got +10k for defeating a metal slime and in mole hole it was a fraction of that and small amount that wouldn't make it worth grinding.

Gigaslash/Gash/Cross are the best attack moves in game but they just cost TOO much MP at least 80+ to be useful in bosses so you must have the MP cost by half in order to really spam them.
