Chesnaught is the BEST starter in kalos. Only thing-I would replace talonflame with charizard since charizard can mega evolve. I would give it flamethrower, fly, brick break, and wing attack/acrobatics. (you can replace brick break with dragon claw if your mega evolving x, but I think brick break is better for rock types that it struggles against).

have flare blitz not flame thrower, its much better; high base power, mega charizard X with 3 physical moves tend to be physicaly orientated (EV,s etc) and the recoil isn't bothersome, as you KO a pokemon and do a bit of damage to your self.

@@someguy86 I had a moveset for both mega X and mega Y, and charizard learns flare blitz later in the game than flamethrower. Hence why I have flamethrower over flare blitz. (EDIT: Flare Blitz does ALOT of recoil, and every couple of turns if your spamming it you have to heal, which is a pain in the neck.)

@@zygardefgc Flare Bliz's recoil is okay as you KO things for some damage on your self. Its recommended by Smogon for a reason. Well I didn't realise that it was a late game move, I mainly play competitive, so I knew it learned it, and didn't think about the possibility of it learning it later in the game. EDIT: Flare Blitz would only be necessary for competitive use, so on a normal play-through, yeah I guess flame thrower is better. Having Flare Blitz on Mega Charizard X is so much better, you don't use Flare Blitz as much because the opponent is human, and will likely have a counter for it, as it is a big threat. Therefore, you won't use Flare Blitz as much, and rather using other moves (Earthquake, Dragon Claw) for pokemon that counter Flare Blitz. It isn't Charizard's only attacking move, so when you do need to use it, there is only some recoil instead of a lot. Flare blitz is a physical move, just like the rest of your movepool. Therefore, in competitive, you can EV train max attack to maximise damage, instead of running max attack AND max sp.attack, so you can save the EVS for speed. That serves Charizard as a better late game cleaner or sweeper, compensating for a bit of recoil. www.smogon.com/dex/sm/pokemon/charizard/ Flare Blitz is recommended on Mega Charizard-X. I was surprised to see Snorlax & Gardivoir on the Chesnaught team and Talonflame using Bulk Up rather than Steel Wing, but I was more surprised Aegislash wasn't on this team. Honestly, looking at Snorlax's moveset in comparison to the others on this team, Aegislash would probably be better in its place. Snorlax covers the same exact types Garchomp covers, and having used this team in a playthrough before Chesnaught is simply unable to handle Fairy type attacks from any competent fairy type, and if you're not going to do any grinding it won't be able to one shot any fairies with it, either. On the other hand, Aegislash resists Fairy and can easily handle them on its own instead of having a redundant Snorlax.

Wrong. Tms dont break at x and y, so you can change your moveset for each gym leader or rival battle. I'm cool with the picks of Gardevoir, talonflame, and Lapras, but between Snorlax and garchomp, with the moveset you gave them, they are redundant as they have basically the same coverage short of dragon claw on garchomp. You already have dragon coverage with Gardevoir so it's not entirely necessary to even have a dragon type, but between Snorlax and garchomp in how you have them set up here, just pick one of them. I'm sure there's some other hole for coverage that could be filled in by replacing one of those two.
