This kind of team sure surprised me. Don't care if you decide to keep going with this idea, though I just wanna point out: The Bulbasaur line CAN'T learn Dig at all, so no other Ground moves until Earthquake. You're welcome.

Love the idea for this series! Though I would like to eventually see best teams that revolve around post-game content in a way that isn't just "grind your pokemon to level 100" or "look up an ou team" since it seems like that's what most people suggest.

The Venusaur line can’t learn Dig, so no using that until you get Earthquake. You can put that move on Combusken for that battle, however (you also get a Brick Break TM on the SS Anne so you don’t have to wait until Celadon for that move). Also, Aerial Ace is weak and fighting types take more damage from Flamethrower than that. Giving Blaziken Bulk Up (level up) or Swords Dance (egg move) to make sweeping easier is probably more useful. I feel that Snorlax’s move set could be better. Body Slam, Shadow Ball, Brick Break and Rock Slide (move tutor in Rock Tunnel) gives it a lot more coverage for a lot more battles. Kingdra doesn’t really need Hydro Pump when it already has Surf. Might as well give it Return and Skarmory Toxic since the latter is such a great wall and can use it in conjunction with Fly. For Gardevoir, Thief is a waste for the final set since the only ghost types you’ll be battling are members of the Gengar line who are already weak to psychic moves and Thunderbolt will do more neutral damage to other psychic types than Thief will do super effective damage. Going with Reflect or Light Screen for team support is more useful.

Hey mystic, I like this video idea and would love to see it for later gens as well. Also are you gonna be doing any kinda no restrictions video for HGSS (as the johto video is for GSC) and USUM? I feel like the changes between the remakes/sequels can make different teams possible. Also I have a video series idea: best team when you only have 4 Pokémon and 2 hm slaves. This is due to anything before gen 6 is usually better to have a team that way due to needing less team members for less grinding if you’re like me and just fight trainers. Plus some games (like hoenn and sinnoh) almost demanding hm slaves with how many hms they have. I dunno how many other people would wanna see that but I think it would be interesting to see how you would build a 4 Pokémon team and might be a bit of a challenge for you. Just a thought. If not then it’s fine but I figured this was an idea you could do sometime down the line if you need ideas for future videos 😉

Tbh, you can make a case fo both. I am surprised he went with Blaziken, since in Kanto, a pure Fire type is a better choice due to the way its set-up (Looking at type specialists, Blaziken is weak to four of them, while Arcanine/Ninetales are only weak to 3 of them).

Idea! A series where you use a random generator to determine your team for the game. Would just need to organize into types in the generators algorithm so you ensure you have a variety. Bonus points if you also randomly generate the move set

For kanto, a lot of gyms can be skipped but not the first 2. Gym#3 is for the convenience of HM fly outside of battle. I always skip gym#4 unless I need HM strength outside of battle for accessing Articuno. Gym#5 is required for HM surf outside of battle. This shows that with the first 5 gyms, you have access to most of the map of kanto and with gym 5 you can go catch zapdos and have a powerful pokemon on your team and you can use him to drill peck Erica's team...

Thief on gardevoir is near useless. Being “extra coverage for ghost types” is just straight up dumb, not only because a stab psychic is much more damage, but also because the only ghost type line in FrLg is also poison type, which is weak to psychic already… Psychic would deal well over TRIPLE the damage thief would deal to gengar. The ONLY time Thief would be better than Psychic, would be either if you are trying to steal an item for some reason, (?) or against other Psychic type pokemon, in which case it deals marginally more damage. Definitely not worth a move slot imo

@nickdentoom11732 жыл бұрын
Interesting video and concept. Since everything goes, i would still replace Blaziken (It doesn't fair as well compared with Pure Fire types due to the way Kanto is set-up type specialist wise) and Kingdra. Venusaur would be my starter and the moveset would be similair to yours (With the only problem being that Bulbasaur cannot learn Dig at all), so i would go with Growth until Earthquake is available. Swampert would be my next pick for it. It only has one weakness to Ground, so the only problematic type specialist is Erika (Swampert completely destroys Brock, Surge, Koga, Giovanni and Blaine). My moveset would be: Ice Punch, EQ, Waterfall and Brick Break Then for my third pick, would be a Fire type. It however, would be Arcanine. Yes, Ninetales is faster, but only slightly (10 points), but Arcanine has 50 points more BST. And while Arcanine gets walled pretty hard by the type specialists, its not nearly as bad as Blaziken (Arcanine is weak to 3, while Blaziken is weak to four and that is not taking into consideration teams, else its even worse for Blaziken). My moveset would be Flamethrower, Aerial Ace, Extreme Speed and Dig. My fourth pick would also be Snorlax, as the wall on the team. Snorlax would do really well on the team. It would be able to have Body Slam, Rest, Strenght, Shadow Ball The other 2 choices i am gonna follow yours, because i agree with them as well. Now, so far only taken into consideration type specialists, if we take teams with set specialists, Koga and Agatha also have mons that wall Blaziken (But not Arcanine) and so does Lance (All his Flying types wall Blaziken). So no... Blaziken doesn't belong here. And you can make the argument between Kingdra and Swampert, but i feel like ultimately, Swampert is better due to it resisting a type while Kingdra does not (Despite both having only 2 weaknesses, Swampert is SE against more mons due to its Ground typing compared to Kingdra as well).
@yorecf96412 жыл бұрын
Honestly, fire types in general don’t belong. They suck in Kanto since the only major battle they’re useful in is Erika.

Ahh, this reminds me of my best Hoenn team recently. I made it on the basis of being able to buy any TM I want, access any of the event-only places like Faraway Island etc, and spend time post-game to get tutor moves. Catch? For me the best 'non-competitive' team is one that has all HMs required for exploration, so whilst I had freedom using cheats, I had to try and fit the HMs in where I could, and in Gen 3 Hoenn that's not easy! But, I managed it. Here's what I had: Blaziken (Flamethrower, Sky Uppercut, Thunderpunch, Cut) - Yes, Blaziken can learn T-Punch at the Battle Frontier! Ludicolo (Waterfall, Ice Beam, Giga Drain, Rain Dance) - Get a Modest nature and the Rain Dish ability and this guy is a monster) Gardevoir (Psychic, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Flash) - Standard. Aggron (Iron Tail, Earthquake, Strength, Rock Smash) - I don't actually use this, but people will get butthurt if I tell them I use an ability modifier to swap Slaking's 'Truant' for 'Huge Power', giving me an effective base atk stat of 320. So here's a more 'fair' replacement Milotic (Ice Beam, Body Slam, Surf, Dive) - This is like my trophy. Feebas are infuriatingly hard to find, and evolving it takes work. It's a rare pokemon for a reason, and not a bad one at that. Rayquaza (Dragon Claw, Crunch, Ice Beam, Fly) I use Altaria before this. Catch it with something like Rash nature to boost those attacks a bit.

@PokéJolt502 жыл бұрын
Not a bad team at all. The best part about it for me is definitely Blaziken. I'd probably change some moves around, though, especially Venusaur and Snorlax's moves. Giving Venusaur some Poison STAB would be nice, having Snorlax learn some coverage like Zen Headbutt instead of Shadow Ball would make it better, I think Fly is a decent move to have Skarmory keep as to have another move instead of Drill Peck, and Kingdra really doesn't need Hydro Pump if it has Surf. Other than that, this is a solid team overall.
@yorecf96412 жыл бұрын
While I agree that the move sets could be better, this is a Gen 3 FRLG team. Zen Headbutt doesn’t exist and the Sludge Bomb TM is post game.
@notashinytyphlosion2 жыл бұрын
I mostly agree with this. Venusaur with Toxic IMO is much better than 75% accurate Sleep Powder. As well, I’d hold on to Razor Leaf if 5pp Giga Drain will not be enough for you. The only other thing for me is to have Kingdra learn Rain Dance instead of Surf if you wanna make use of Swift Swim’s speed boost or just reach it agility but since that is your only option for an ability in Gen 3 Rain Dance is better IMO.
@yorecf96412 жыл бұрын
@@notashinytyphlosion I’d give Skarmory Toxic honestly. Using that in conjunction with Fly works pretty well and this means Venusaur is free to run both Giga Drain and Razor Leaf if you’re concerned about Sleep Powder accuracy and/or limited Giga Drain uses. Kingdra needs to know Surf so that we can get around the region, so Hydro Pump needs to go if anything. Rain Dance will dramatically increase its power anyway so HP is unnecessary.
