UMass rejected the offer in order to keep the basketball teams in the Atlantic 10 conference, which was much better at the time. It backfired massively for football as they couldn’t find a new conference to move to until this year when the MAC accepted them back in, this time as a full member. TLDR: they prioritized basketball over football and it didn’t work out

Depending on the game difficulty they both have their own challenges. For teams at the bottom building them up to get to the top is a challenge but losses are to be expected. For the teams at the top maintaining it is the challenge and every loss is impactful. Baylor losing a few games is no big deal but a Bama losing more than 1 is a big deal.

I like to start as a coordinator at a 1* or 2* school for a couple seasons (win a conference championship and a quality bowl). Then, be a coordinator for a 4* or 5* school until I find a HC job at one of the bottom feeder schools in the B1G or SEC (Vandy, Maryland, etc)
