I planted some in March this year, for the first time in Ghana. The one who gave it to me told me to harvest it when it is a year old, so I am waiting to harvest it in January or February. Thanks for the insight.

Very interesting video. Would I be correct in presuming that this particular yellow yam is what is also known as yellow guinea yam and is none other than Dioscorea Cayenensis? There must many different cultivars of D. Cayenensis as the Puna cultivar (Ghana) has the same morphology as white guinea yam (Dioscorea Rotundata). it is also the most highly priced yam in the markets in Ghana according to my Ghanaian friends. Are you familiar with the Puna cultivar and what is it known as in Nigeria? Cheers, Robert

Yes there are many cultivars of yellow yam. I am yet to see the puna type. Would really love to. I hope I get that gift from any Ghanian soon😊
