I grew up in Carlsbad, beginning in May 1941. You missed the vibrant growth point of the city along Roosevelt St where The Barrio was established in the early 1900s. Still a vibrant community for tourist to walk and talk with locals of Carlsbad.

The Strawberry Fields are another must visit. Very close to Legoland.

There's a new thing on the coast: you can park at the Oyster Farm near where the power plant used to be, take a tour, and have a tasting. Also, there are quite a few breweries and even more in nearby Vista and San Marcos.

Lots of trails in Carlsbad. Bunch around Lake Calavera (with an extinct volcano) and in the canyon above and lagoon below the Omni La Costa. Good ones around Leo Carillo Ranch, also. Burn off those tacos.

You missed mentioning La Costa Tennis and Golf Club! Situated on the East side of El Camino Real and between La Costa Ave. and Aviara Parkway.!! A very upscale community.!!

Well, you clearly don't live here, that big antique mall is no longer here and hasn't been for over a year. Also the mineral water spa does not offer the spa anymore and hasn't for a long time. You can still go there to get alkaline water, but Not a massage.
