Just make sure to leave the city after 6:30. The city is not safe. That said. The Mark Twain House is the must-see attraction. Hartford Stage Company is one of the best regional theater companies in the US. The Atheneum is a great museum, not overwhelming like museums in NYC. Hartford has seen better days. Hopefully, their civic leaders can get it together and turn things around. It used to be a great little city, but problems with crime and poor public education, drove people with the means to go, out of the city. It's really unfortunate, because Connecticut is a state that values quality public schools.

Best thing to do in Hartford? Buy a one way plane or bus ticket.

Go see the Whalers or enjoy the action at Hartford Jai Alai, oh, I forgot they are history. You could always go there to get mugged!
