✨Hello everyone welcome to my video,
What’s happening?!?! This video was definitely somewhat of an experiment… You’ll pick up on it pretty quickly, but in short, a lot of this video was shot with multiple (4) cameras recording simultaneously, all of which were attached to my jeep. Unfortunately, early in the ride, I ran into some technical issues… And it took me a solid 15 minutes to “mostly” get everything back up & running. As a result, I will admit that I chose to prioritize being present in the moment over the video production.
During this 15 minute "technical issues" period, I found myself getting frustrated and even a little bit embarrassed. I say that because there were 4 other rigs transporting a total of 10 or 11 other people. It really bothered me that my technical issues were having a negative impact on other people, and it also bothered me because I found myself not enjoying the experience as much because of this.
With that, I made the decision to simplify some things in order to be present in the moment, and to reduce the adverse impact on others.
Do I have regrets? Absolutely not. In fact, I ended up with WAY more footage with this new approach/style, and this ended up being my longest video to date. Also, I had the opportunity to ride with some QUALITY people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise! Looking forward to many more shared adventures with this group! Also, no cacti were harmed in the creation of this film! ;)
Side note but I learned a TON of this trip! From a video production perspective, this new approach/style is something that I’ll incorporate into my videos going forward. However, I won’t overdo it like I did on this video. I’ll likely reserve this approach for challenging obstacles, narrow canyons, and spectacular views.
Lastly, I'd like to take a moment to show my appreciation for the Roy family. I truly value our friendship! It's amazing to have such great people to hit the trails with almost every weekend! It's even awesomer (lol) that you are introducing me to so many amazing people. And it's even further awesomer (ha) that you keep cooking such incredible food for everyone! Thank you!
Hope you enjoy the video, and it would be really great if you would join us on our journey by subscribing to the channel. Thank you, and CHEERS!
I hope you guys will love this video

I lived in Portland for years! Miss the PNW! You have some fun logging roads out in Tillamook State Forest and a TON of great trails out in central OR. I’m actually planning to head up that way sometime this summer or early fall! So glad you enjoyed the video! New one dropping today!

Copper Cache use to be a nice crawl but recent weather has smooth it out. It’s a sightseeing “ Quickie”. I love the area and enjoy doing the loop. Nice video.

Wait..."Super challenging"? "What have I done?" Really??? Everyone drove straight through that trail. Nobody got stuck, nobody even got hung up, nobody broke anything or got their rig damaged. Nobody even lost a tire bead. Not even any recoveries needed. Not ONE. The only thing "super challenging" here was coming up with a click-bait title and thumbnail, and losing a subscriber because of that. Suggestion: keep it real, keep it HONEST, and more people will respect you and want to continue on. Maybe something like "Fun Trail Day with Friends," or "A Great Time on the Copper Cache Trail." Seriously. SMDH.

Let me get this straight… You’ve had a KZbin account called @videosoffroad for 10 years with 0 content, yet you have the audacity to criticize my work? Goodbye and best of luck to you… For what it’s worth, “what have I done” or “what have I gotten myself into” crossed my mind at least 3 times as I approached some of the waterfall obstacles or when I was off-camber, which is a borderline phobia of mine. For me, this was the most challenging trail I’ve done. Hence, I feel as though I’m being pretty sincere with the choice of words. That said, I’ll take the advice into consideration as it’s never been my intent to be misleading.

@@ObscureOffroad I don't publish my videos to the world. They are all unlisted to only share with friends and family. I have no interest in being a KZbin influencer of any kind. I also do it like that as a way to help protect my personal privacy and keep from getting hacked. I've been Jeeping hardcore for about 10 years, all over Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana and California, including the Rubicon Trail and about 2 dozen other Badge of Honor trails. Nevada is on the list for this year. I've done extremely remote overlanding, deep snow wheeling, and mild-moderate rock crawling (I have a 4-Door JK Rubicon, not good at hardcore rock crawling) I've seen many kinds of stuck and broke on many kinds of vehicles in many kinds of circumstances, including needing a welder just to get off the trail to where a tow truck could reach the vehicle. It sounds to me like maybe you're just getting started. Been there. I guess it's a matter of perspective. But I will say based on the title and thumbnail I was expecting to see quite a bit more than the very tame wheeling that was in the video. Expectations do get set from that preview information.

@@ObscureOffroad Having said the above, your video wasn't a bad video at all, per se, it just felt rather click-baity and artificially self-promoting, given what was delivered vs. what many (many) other off-roading channels deliver with similar levels of promotion and hype.

I promise that you've gotten your point across. I updated the thumbnail and the title to reduce the "click-baity" perception based on your feedback, despite that not being my intent. To your point, it is all about perspective and I've only been doing this for about 7 months now, and this particular trail felt pretty extreme to me. Bear in mind that Copper Cache is rated at 7 of 10 in difficulty per Onx. I don't perceive that as particularly "tame". However, the overall loop we did included several typical dirt road sections that were fun in their own way, albeit less challenging. This channel is not and will never be anything like "24 Hell and Back". I love watching their videos, but I have ZERO interest in doing anything that extreme. For me, it's about exploring new places and having a blast doing so. For what it's worth, it sounds like you've done a ton of really fun trips! I really want to go snow wheeling and we just got like 20+ inches of snow out by Mt. Charleston... Itching to get out there with some folks that are more experienced.

@@ObscureOffroad Snow wheeling can be a lot of fun! Depends on the group, depends on the rigs, depends on the snow. Sometimes it turns into an all-day recovery-fest, which for me after about 3-4 hours of non-stop recoveries gets rather old. But it's something every wheeler should experience at least once. I hope you have a great time! 🙂
