My parents lived there while my father was stationed there in 1955. We lived in Froschberg, which has a soccer stadium now, I think. I took my mother back in 2001 and we took pictures on the bridge that goes over to the Soviet side of the river. My mother had a story that all women/dependents had to have a gold coin in their shoes to buy their freedom if they fell asleep on the trolley and accidentally crossed over the river to the Soviet side. The American Army was not going to start a war just to get some dumb dependent back from the Soviets, but a bribe to the locals might do it. Those were serious times, indeed.

Mike, i just stumbled this video even though it two yrs old, i would say I fell in love with your country, Austria specially Vienna. The diverse community and friendly people are awesome. The scenic place of Hofburg Palace and Stephanplatz Cathedral and Schönbrunn Palace are all amazing including Belvedere Palace, we haven't seen one like that. And i'm pretty sure the next time that we visit your country, we will make sure that we spend more than 3-days just to see Salzburg and Hallstatt or Graz and spend some time at different cities of Austria. Hey, you never know, i probably going to sing Do Re Mi of the sound of music, lol. Mike, if you can recommend a city to visit after your hometown, i'll appreciate it.---Nathan
